In this special bonus episode of Genre Exposure, picking up right where we left off, join us as we check out Yasutake Torii's Death Forest 3 from 2015, the next entry in the franchise based on an indie video game that itself was based on another prominent indie video game. Dustin eagerly dives into discovering if the third entry can continue upping the ante, or is there where it all starts falling apart? One thing is for sure: more giant floating ghost head chomping people in half is guaranteed along with series mainstay Kazuki being on hand searching for the truth. But before all that, Dustin takes a moment to highlight some upcoming J-Horror home media releases and then weighs in on the controversy surrounding Uzumaki's anime adaptation.. All that and more! Episode 097: The Movies That Scare Us

In this episode, we sit aside the movie deep dives to tackle a discussion topic in honor of the spooky season. And what better topic to discuss than the things that actually scare us. So join us as we get deep and share it all, highlighting five films that have really and truly scared us in our lives. The criteria were simple: the film had to legitimately scare us either when we first watched to the point it left some significant impact or still actually unnerves us today. And by scared, we specifically mean the type where you're still thinking about the film after. Jumpscares are fun, and we love them, but like a funhouse ride the moment is fleeting. Jason drills down on the origin of his preoccupation with child endangerment in film. Dustin unpacks his crippling fear of all things creepy crawly. But before all that, we dish on some of our October daily viewings and weigh in on Art the Clown's ascension to horror icon with Terrifier 3. And so much more! Dustin's J-Horror Journal Episode 02: Death Forest 2 (2015)

In this special bonus episode of Genre Exposure, it's the return of Dustin's J-Horror Journal! In an effort to ensure we continue having content every week in October, Dustin has taken to the mic solo to make up for the lost time of his recent illness and do what he does best: unhinged ranting about how cool J-Horror flicks are. Picking up right where we left off, join us as we check out Masataka Ichimi's Death Forest 2 from 2015, the next entry in the franchise based on an indie video game that itself was based on another prominent indie video game. This time we trade out the dimly lit forest for an abandoned school as the girls of the drama club find their interpersonal relationship issues pale compared to the unyielding threat of a giant floating ghost head that chomps people in half without mercy. Episode 096: Milk & Serial (2024)

In this episode, we return to our much beloved Found Footage subgenre to check out a recent indie darling that's been gaining a lot of attention online. So join us as we check out Milk & Serial (2024) from the mind of Curry Barker. Dustin eagerly embraces the film, drawing thematic parallels to some of his favorites in the subgenre.
