    37. The Yoga Of Parenting: Applying Ancient Teachings To Modern-Day Parenthood | w/ Sarah Ezrin, Author Of The Yoga Of Parenting

Writer, yoga educator and mother of two, Sarah Ezrin, joins Jessica on the podcast this week to discuss her book, The Yoga Of Parenting. In her book, which was released in 2023, she applies the teachings of yoga to parenting and offers practical advice for how we can stay grounded, connect with our kids and practice self-compassion throughout parenthood.

During their conversation, they discuss how Sarah came to write this book and many of the tools she employs as a mom of two toddlers to help her stay present, nourish her nervous system and care for herself so she can show up for her kids in the way she wants.

Ways to nourish our nervous systems and why this matters in parenthood

    36. The Initiation Into Motherhood: There’s No Going Back. Only Progress And Evolution

In this episode, Jessica explores the concept of initiation - a major transformation that occurs when we experience radical change. She focuses specifically on the initiation into motherhood, discussing the changes that occur in pregnancy and how these help women integrate important lessons that will serve them in motherhood.

Although our culture tends to demonize the physical changes that come with pregnancy and puts pressure on women to prove that they haven’t changed, Jessica explains that there really is no “going back” nor is that desirable because of the immense growth that occurs in motherhood.

What you’ll learn in the episode:

The basics of an initiation and what happens in the psyche during an initiatory process

Why the physical and non-physical changes experienced during pregnancy are opportunities for personal growth

How motherhood softens us to the feminine and helps us strengthen qualities like creativity, acceptance, and intuition

Through personal anecdotes and insightful reflections, Jessica illuminates the transformative power embedded within the journey of motherhood, inviting listeners to embrace it as a pathway to personal growth and empowerment.

Ceremonialist, anthropologist, mother of two and founder of Rituel, Eve Gaines, joins Jessica on the podcast this week to talk about motherhood and the lost art of ritual. In this episode, you will learn about:

The wisdom years when our disparate life experiences begin to synthesize

Why so many women find their true calling in their 40s and 50s

So relatable and enlightening

I am loving following along each week as Jessica tackles the challenge of finding your purpose/connecting with your authentic self from new and different angles. Whether discussing practical wellness tips like how to eat for better gut health, mindfulness hacks or more exotic meditation practices, Jessica breaks each topic down and makes the conversation engaging and fun. Her candor and relatability actually demystify what could otherwise be an intimating process. So far, I’ve been inspired to try the 5 minute nightly journaling and have also tried a few different kinds of meditation classes. When I came across this podcast, I was already looking to find my next chapter but feeling overwhelmed about taking the first steps. Hearing Jessica share her story and interview others about their paths to living in alignment has been uplifting and the practical insights have helpful.
