Switcheroo: The Mad Scientist and Time Travel Part 1: The Illusion

Switcheroo this week as The Mad Scientist Podcast takes over!

This episode they talk about the philosophy and math behind the concept of time. What IS time? How do we measure it? How did that idea develop? And how will that lay the groundwork for time travel?

CAFEteria 51: World Tour - Canadian Ketchup Chip

Really leaving our comfort zone here…to travel a couple hundred miles north to CANADA! That's right, this week we visit our cousins to the north to experience one of their finer delicacies. An item lauded by many, loathed by some, and polarizing for all. This week we try the KETCHUP POTATO CHIP (you so thought we were going to say poutine didn't you?) What brand has the best? Why are they so expensive on Amazon? What in the world are 'All Dressed' Chips? ALL of that and more this week as we explore the Ketchup Chip on CAFEteria 51.

The Minnesota Iceman: Missing Link or a Charlatan's Sham? | 237

The Minnesota Iceman: Missing Link or a Charlatan's Sham? | 237

What do you do when you find a previously undiscovered hominid frozen in a block of ice? Well, obviously you thaw him out and go eat microwave burritos at 7-11. But, in the off chance Pauley Shore is unavailable for said hijinks - you might just tour around the country charging people to get a look-see. And that's exactly what happened when Frank Hansen got his hands on this particular Neanderthal-sickle. But the story gets weirder. The Smithsonian comes to take a look, it's determined the wannabe Bigfoot was shot in the head, and someone at Disney claims they actually made the thing out of latex and a lack of common sense. We try to melt the mystery of the Minnesota Iceman this week. Plus, we welcome Dan Kozuh back to the show (he's got a new podcast - but ya know, who doesn't), C-Bot isn't exactly firing on all cylinders (is he ever?), and Brent plants a fake voicemail lauding his hosting talents (might be fake, might not but since I write the descriptions- we're going with it). All of that and more on the podcast that’s never thawed a Neanderthal from a gigantic block of ice, but if we did we’re pretty sure he’d look like Brendan Fraser - Hysteria 51.

Flashback Winner Pick: The Kardashev Scale | 236

Flashback Winner Pick: The Kardashev Scale | 236

Alright yuh sacks, Conspiracy Bot here. You voted last week and the winner was crowned. Me. But also John Titor for some reason. And the winner was picked for the prize pack, one loser named Skylar Horton. His crap is in the mail but to make him feel like less of a douche pickle for listening to this dumpster fire of a podcast I reached out and let him pick his favorite episode of all time for this week's final flashback episode. Without further ado, here is Skylar's pick, The Kardashev Scale

How advanced is our civilization? Hot Pockets? Check. Cat memes? Check. Total control of our planet’s resources, weather, and energy? Well…we’ll get back to you. That’s the basic premise of the Kardashev Scale. It’s a simple test to judge a civilization’s technological advancement. The scale ranges from 0 (we’re a 0.7) to a 6 or 7 (think omnipotent beings). This week we explore where we are, where we’re (hopefully) going, and how we can get there. Plus, Conspiracy Bot gives himself an upgrade to SUPER C (he’s been playing too much NES), the neighborhood cats are back in his cross-hairs (he drank a bottle of Malört), and we talk how Pluto has gotten the shaft (#teamPluto). All of that and more on the podcast that didn’t know you in high school, but if we had we would have beat up any other podcasts that made fun of your Magic the Gathering collection – Hysteria 51.

FLASHBACK: The Solway Firth Spaceman | 235

FLASHBACK: The Solway Firth Spaceman | 235

CBot here. It's Flashback week on Hysteria 51.  Monday through Friday this week the meatsacks are releasing one of their favorite past episodes of the show.  On Friday there will be a post where you can vote for your favorite episode of the week.  1 person who voted will be picked at random for a prize pack so make sure to hop on Hysteria Nation if you like crap from dumb podcasts.  I hope you lose!

Nothing worse than a photobomb. There you are minding your own business, taking a picture of your lovely daughter and next thing you know some idiot time traveler / astronaut / inter-dimensional being drops his/her/its mug into your frame. And while we’ve all been through it, there’s a famous version we’re talking about this week - The Solway Firth Spaceman. Where did the other figure come from? Could this be a real, true documentation of a close encounter? How much is free film for a year actually worth? We dive in deep and see what develops. Plus, Conspiracy Bot actually did research this week (albeit unsuccessfully, but...ya know...baby steps). Brent channels his inner British housewife from the 1960s (it wasn’t a huge leap). And John starts talking about time travel again (we wish it existed so we could go back and stop him). All of that and more on the podcast that doesn’t do a ton of photo shoots, but when we do they’re in the UK and they involve a spaceman – Hysteria 51.

Weird things happen in Kentucky…chili buns…distilleries in dry counties…Johnny Depp. But perhaps the strangest was the day it rained meat on a rural farmstead. The event, now known as the Kentucky Meat Shower, is not only 100% real, it’s also yet to be fully explained. What would cause the heavens to open and drop a meaty monsoon on an unsuspecting farmer’s wife? We grab our umbrellas (and grills) and dive in to the Kentucky Meat Shower this week. Plus, Joe Peck returns to the show (it was unexpected), Kyle gets buggy again (less unexpected), and Conspiracy Bot has a new song (we wish we hadn’t expected it). All of that and more on the podcast that’s never been in a shower of meat, but one can dream – Hysteria 51.
