Transformational Parenting Advice

Janet's advice is respectful and truly loving. Her approach led me to Alfie Kohn and another podcast, Your Parenting Mojo. Between the three, I've adopted a parenting approach that is inspired by RIE and radically different than the models that I've inherited from the culture at large. Radically different in a way that is both challenging but also more philosophically and spiritually resonant with the type of parent/person/family I want to be and create. Thank you!

Useless

I feel like her “advice” to every problem is “accept it” “breathe” “physically stop them” ok that doesn’t help at all. Ok child, I accept you screaming and attacking other kids. Umm how does that help me stop my child from doing something I don’t want them to do?! I’ve been listening for almost a year and none of her advice does anything for my kids.

Helpful advice

Very different approach to what we’re accustomed to. Found the advice helpful but I get annoyed with the laughing. It’s a bit of a condescending tone because it sounds like you’re laughing at how obvious “what’s right.”
