Why You Feel So Much Shame After Narcissistic Abuse

Why do you feel so much shame after narcissistic abuse? Understanding the roots of self-blame is key to your healing. Escaping a toxic relationship often leaves us with deep, lingering feelings of inadequacy. We analyze our past choices, wondering how we ended up where we did, and often internalize the negativity directed at us. This cycle of self-blame is common, but it is not a reflection of your true worth. In this episode of the FlameWalker podcast, Kaleah unpacks why these painful emotions arise and how they are tied to the complex dynamics of trauma bonds. By identifying these patterns, you can begin the necessary work of emotional recovery, moving away from the weight of the past and toward a clearer sense of self. You Don’t Have a Communication Problem — You’re Being Overwritten

Narcissistic relationships, gaslighting, and emotional manipulation can leave empaths feeling as though they have to explain themselves over and over again just to be understood. But what if the problem isn’t the way you’re communicating? You choose your words carefully. You write the thoughtful email. You try to explain what you meant, what you felt, and what actually happened. And somehow your words come back to you distorted. Instead of responding to what you actually said, the other person responds to their interpretation of what you said—or tells you what you “really” meant. Eventually, you may begin questioning yourself. Was I unclear? Did I say something wrong? Am I being too sensitive? Do I need to explain it differently? In this episode of the FlameWalker Podcast, Kaleah explores why this dynamic may not be a communication problem at all. When someone is filtering everything you say through their own defenses and need to protect their self-image, they may be unable to truly receive your experience. Your reality gets overwritten by a version of you that exists in their mind. Whether this happens consciously or unconsciously, the effect can be deeply destabilizing. You can find yourself working harder and harder to be understood while slowly losing trust in your own voice. There comes a point when healing means recognizing that you cannot explain your way into being heard. You don't need better words. You don't need the perfect email. You don't need one more conversation. Sometimes the most powerful thing an empath can do is stop explaining—and stop offering their reality to someone who continually rewrites it. Your voice belongs with people who are willing to hear you. Why Do You Keep Losing Yourself in Relationships? The Empaths Cross (Carrying the Emotional Burdens of Others)

Awakened empaths and highly sensitive people often discover that spiritual awakening comes with a painful truth: as you become more conscious, your relationships begin to change. Awakening sounds beautiful—and ultimately, it is. But there is a painful side to becoming an awakened empath that we don't talk about nearly enough. In this episode of the Flamewalker Podcast Kaleah talks about what happens when the empath begins putting that weight down.  She explores the difference between the unaware empath, awakening empath, and awakened empath; why empath awakening can be such a lonely process; why relationships often change as we change; and why becoming more conscious doesn't mean becoming less loving. Perhaps one of the deepest lessons of the awakened empath is learning that we can have compassion for another person's pain without carrying it for them. Sensitivity isn't a weakness. But neither is it a requirement to sacrifice yourself. There comes a time when we have to ask: What is truly mine to carry—and what am I finally ready to put down? You're Not Crazy! You are Just an Empath?

You’re Not Crazy, You’re an Empath. If you’ve spent much of your life feeling too sensitive, too emotional, overwhelmed by other people’s energy, or wondering why relationships seem to affect you so deeply, there may be nothing wrong with you at all. You may be an empath, a highly sensitive person (HSP) or energetically sensitive person. In this episode, I speak from the heart about my own journey as an empath and what I’ve learned after 65 years of living with a deeply sensitive and open heart. I believe there are different stages in the empath’s journey—the unaware empath, the awakening empath, and the awakened empath. And somewhere along the way, we have to stop carrying everything and everyone. We have to learn boundaries. We have to learn to sit with our own pain rather than continually absorbing the pain of others. We have to walk through our own dark night of the soul, question what we were taught to believe about ourselves, and begin shedding what was never ours to carry. Being an empath isn’t a weakness. Sensitivity can be an extraordinary gift—but only when we learn how to honor and protect it. We live in a society that often represses emotion, avoids pain, and disconnects from vulnerability. Those of us who feel deeply can end up carrying an enormous emotional weight as a result. But perhaps we weren’t meant to carry that weight forever. Perhaps we were meant to wake up. If you are an empath, highly sensitive person, or someone going through a profound period of emotional or spiritual awakening, I hope this conversation reminds you that you are not alone. You were never the problem. ❤️ Kaleah Download: Why You Keep Losing Yourself in Relationships (and How to Catch It Before It Happens) https://www.the-soul-path.com/flamewalker-ebook ✂️Cut the Cords: 9 Days to Energetic Freedom FREE e-course. Your first step to reclaim your energy, break trauma bonds, and take back your power. https://www.the-soul-path.com/narcissismfree ✨ Work With Me 1:1 Sessions with Kaleah https://www.narcissismfree.com/work-with-kaleah/ 🌿 Start your healing journey at www.NarcissismFree.com 🔥Check Out My Long Form Articles on Substack https://flamewalker.substack.com/ 🌸Books and Audios https://the-healing-sanctuary.com/

Are You Addicted to Figuring Out the Narcissist?

In this episode of The FlameWalker Podcast, Kaleah talks about the difference between learning about narcissism in order to understand and protect yourself—and becoming consumed with trying to understand the inner world of the narcissist. Narcissism also exists on a spectrum. Not every narcissistic person is the same, and sweeping statements about what “the narcissist” always thinks, feels, or does can be misleading. There are different presentations and different degrees of narcissism, from narcissistic traits to much more destructive and malignant patterns. There are things we need to understand about narcissistic abuse. We need to recognize the patterns. We need to understand manipulation, projection, trauma bonds, hoovering, and why returning to a relationship without evidence of sustained change can pull us right back into the cycle. But eventually recovery asks us to stop looking outward and begin asking different questions. Stop Carrying What Isn’t Yours (The Emotional Weight We Carry for Others)

Empaths in relationships with narcissists and other's who are not emotionally available, often carry the emotional weight of others through projection, emotional absorption and self-abandonment—without even realizing they are doing it. Have you ever walked away from a relationship wondering why you feel emotionally devastated while the other person seems to move on completely unscathed? You may have been carrying more than your own emotional weight. As highly sensitive and empathic people, we can become so accustomed to feeling the emotions of others that we don't always recognize when we have taken on something that doesn't belong to us. We analyze their behavior, try to understand their wounds, worry about what they're feeling, attempt to repair the relationship—and somewhere along the way, we leave ourselves. In this episode of The FlameWalker Podcast, I explore the emotional and energetic dance that happens when one person disowns or projects their emotional reality while another person absorbs it and carries it. This dynamic can be especially powerful between narcissistic people and empaths. One person projects and disowns; the other absorbs and implodes. The empath may end up carrying the grief, confusion, rejection, shame, fear and emotional burden for both people. But there comes a time when we have to ask: Is this mine? We can have compassion for someone's wounds without carrying them. We can understand another person without abandoning ourselves. We can love someone and still release them to walk their own path. Sometimes healing means handing back what was never ours to carry—and refusing to pick it up again. Revisiting the FlameWalker Podcast

After taking a six-week break from the FlameWalker Podcast, I felt it was time to ask an important question... Is this the end of the FlameWalker Podcast? In this deeply personal episode, I reflect on the journey that has brought me here—from years of exploring narcissistic abuse, trauma, healing, and personal transformation to recognizing that my own path is evolving. Sometimes we spend years doing the work we were meant to do, only to discover that life is inviting us into something even deeper. In this conversation, I share: Why I stepped away from the podcast for a while. What traveling across the country in my minivan taught me. Why revisiting my life's work changed my perspective. The common thread that has connected everything I've ever taught. Why I'm shifting toward spirituality, mythology, and the deeper journey of awakening. What the future of FlameWalker may look like. If you've ever felt your life changing beneath your feet... if you've sensed you're being called into a new chapter but aren't sure what comes next... this episode is for you. Sometimes endings aren't endings at all. They're invitations to become who we've always been.  Download: Why You Keep Losing Yourself in Relationships (and How to Catch It Before It Happens) https://www.the-soul-path.com/flamewalker-ebook ✂️Cut the Cords: 9 Days to Energetic Freedom FREE e-course.
