Timesuck with Dan Cummins

Good stuff. Lots of inside jokes so you may want to start in around #100 or so. Been listening for a few years and love the cult humor. Dan is pretty down to earth and funny. I could do without so many Cummins law bits but I get that it is another inside joke.

No matter the topic every episode turns into a soap box for him to harp on politics. You’d think an episode that has nothing to do with it would be safe but unfortunately not.

Wanted to hear the show about Lawrence of Arabia and old boy starts the conservative bashing almost immediately. Done.

Been a listener from the beginning. Dan notes people are saying he is becoming more political but he does not know why/feel like this is. I have noticed more recently he strays from the pattern of topics that established this podcast - true/bizarre crimes. Rather than focusing on true crime stories many of the recent episodes are veering into social issues. I think some (many?) listeners are noticing this and this is where these comments come from. I will say I have listened to all of the episodes regardless, but I must admit several of the more recent episodes I have stopped listening. Not because the topic was not important, but I don’t listen to actors, influencers, singers, or comics for these types of issues. If I want to listen to these types of podcasts, I will seek out a more knowledgeable source. Dan’s positions on these issues become very clear and, unfortunately, given the nature of his comedy, when someone disagrees with his point of view he can be rather harsh and simplistic. This is fine for comedy, but less appropriate for social issues which have more nuance. Even when I agree with his viewpoint, I have trouble listening to his vitriolic anger. Will keep listening, but I am becoming more selective as to which episodes I will listen to. I subscribe for entertainment purposes and many of the recent episodes are not for entertainment.
