    Burning Thoughts: Nicole Noren leaves ESPN over their embrace of sports gambling

    Our patrons voted and said they wanted us to talk about Nicole Noren, a veteran sports producer and investigative journalist, leaving ESPN because of the company’s embrace of sports betting. Noren talked to recent BIAD guest, Danny Funt, about her decision to leave ESPN: "It was very troubling for me to see the normalization of betting and ESPN’s complete acceptance of that, and finally, they just decided to go all in. It worried me. I knew what gambling addiction could do to families."     Burning Thoughts: Amina Seck and Abolish ICE

    Our patrons voted and said they wanted to hear us talk about Kentucky State basketballer, Aminata "Amina" Seck, who was recently released from ICE's custody after spending two months imprisoned by them. Seck is a graduate student, from Senegal, and plays center on the team. She was with her team on the way to a game in New York when ICE thugs arrested her. Seck is not the only international collegiate basketball that ICE has picked up. Mississippi Valley State's Qingfang Pang, who is from China, has been in custody since September 29. In this Burning Thoughts, Lindsay and Jessica discuss these cases, why this is all so infuriating, asks where the universities and the NCAA are, and Jessica tells a story of soccer fans in Austin trying to do something about this in their community.
