  1. Barca, Real and Atleti neck and neck, plus Champions League play-off preview

Barca, Real and Atleti neck and neck, plus Champions League play-off preview

Jimbo’s got Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Julien Laurens and Rory Smith alongside him as the Champions League Knockout Round Play-offs get underway.  We start with a look at some of the big ties across Tuesday and Wednesday including the small matter of Manchester City v Real Madrid - for the fourth season in a row in Europe! Elsewhere, there’s the all-French affair between Brest and PSG, Celtic host Bayern Munich and Feyenoord v Milan just got a bit more interesting following the dismissal of Brian Priske…   Domestically, in Spain the La Liga title race is the gift that keeps on giving with just two points separating Real, Atleti and Barcelona at the top of the table. That’s after Carlo Ancelotti’s side were held in a 1-1 draw by their Madrid rivals, allowing Barca to close the gap with a 4-1 victory over Sevilla.  Over in Italy, it was a big Monday night in Milan as the Champions closed the gap to leaders Napoli to just one point after a 2-1 win over Fiorentina… just four nights after they’d played in Bergamot and la Viola had won 3-0 in a match that was rescheduled after the collapse of midfielder Edoardo Bove back in December. Napoli’s lead at the top stands at one point as they were held by Udinese.  In France, PSG continued their imperious Ligue 1 form with a 4-1 victory over Monaco, which included a first goal for the club for a certain Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Distant chasers Marseille and Nice both registered wins of their own to keep up their Champions League charge in what’s a very competitive chase for a top three spot.  And in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich prepared for their trip to Glasgow with a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen, stretching their lead at the top of the table to eight points. That’s because closest rivals Leverkusen let complacency creep in again as they were held to a goalless draw by Wolfsburg. Meanwhile, Dortmund have gone five home games without a win in the league - their worst run since 2006 - after their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Stuttgart.  Produced by Lucy Oliva.  RUNNING ORDER:  • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Champions League teases (06.15) • PART 3: La Liga review - Title race gets even tighter, plus is Antony actually good in Spain?! (10.35) • PART 4: Serie A review - Miixed fortunes in Inter v Fiorentina double-header as Napoli slip up again (21.20) • PART 5: Ligue 1 review - Kvara bags his first PSG goal as chasing pack bunches up (41.35) • PART 6: Bundesliga review - Bayern extend their lead while Dortmund’s troubles continue (49.25) Learn more about your ad choices. 2. La Liga title race takes another turn as Dembele dazzles again

    FEB 4

La Liga title race takes another turn as Dembele dazzles again

Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle join Jimbo for a deep-dive into all the latest Continental action and transfer news as the window officially *slammed* shut.  Over in Italy, the spoils were shared in the Derby della Madonnina after Stefan De Vrij bagged a 93rd minute equaliser, while league leaders Napoli conceded a last-gasp goal of their own to draw 1-1 in Rome. Plus - it’s farewell, not goodbye to James as he embarks on an important project…  In Ligue 1, Ousmane Dembele just can’t stop scoring! He became the first PSG player ever to score hat-tricks in back-to-back games as they came from behind to beat Brest 5-2. So, what’s suddenly clicked for him in Paris?  There was yet another twist in the title race over in Spain as Real Madrid succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Espanyol despite having 76% possession. Atleti took full advantage to close the gap at the top to just a point after their 2-0 win over Mallorca, while Barcelona also won thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s 30th goal of the season. And in the Bundesliga Harry Kane continues to do Harry Kane things, bagging a brace in his 50th appearance in the league as Bayern survived a late scare to beat Holstein Keil 4-3. They did it without Mathys Tel who’s now on loan with Tottenham - but what kind of player are Spurs getting?  Produced by Lucy Oliva.  RUNNING ORDER:  • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Serie A review - 1-1 draws across the board for the title chasers (05.10) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Ousmane Dembele the hat-trick hero (again!) (18.45) • PART 4: La Liga review - Real beaten to open door for Atleti & Barca (32.30) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Bayern survive late scare as Tel heads to Tottenham (44.05) Learn more about your ad choices. 3. Champions League fates to be sealed as Barca put 7 past Valencia

    JAN 28

Champions League fates to be sealed as Barca put 7 past Valencia

Jimbo’s joined by his continental crew - James Horncastle, Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús and Seb Stafford-Bloor - to look back on the latest week of action from across Europe AND look ahead to the decisive Champions League matchday 8 ties. Nine teams have already been eliminated from the competition with three more to go, but can Manchester City avoid being one of them? Belgian football expert Kristof Terreur joins us to preview their must-win game against Club Brugge. Elsewhere, it’s also finely poised between Stuttgart and PSG who sit 24th and 22nd in the table… Back to domestic matters, and in Serie A Napoli continued their fine form and made it 7 wins on the bounce as they fought back from a goal to win 2-1 over Juventus and end their unbeaten record. Plus, drama at the San Siro as Conceição and Calabria almost came to blows… In La Liga Kylian Mbappé bagged his first hat-trick for Real Madrid as they went four points clear at the top of the table after a 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid. That’s after Atléti were held to a 1-1 draw with Villarreal, while Barcelona put just the seven past Valencia as they got back to winning ways in the league. Over in Germany, Bayern moved six points clear at the top after their 2-1 win at Freiburg, while closest rivals Leverkusen saw a two-goal lead evaporate as they were held by Leipzig. And in Ligue 1, PSG dropped points for the fifth time this season in a 1-1 draw with Reims at the Parc de Princes. But they’ve actually extended their lead at the top to 10 points after Marseille were beaten 2-0 by Nice in the Derby de la Mediterranée. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Champions League preview including Man City v Club Brugge with Kristof Terreur (07.30) • PART 3: Bundesliga review - Bayern go six points clear while Dortmund close in on Kovac (26.45) • PART 4: Serie A review - Napoli’s winning streak continues as Conceição cracks the whip (39.25) • PART 5: Ligue 1 review - PSG drop points but still manage to extend their lead at the top (54.15) • PART 6: La Liga review - Mbappé gets a hat-trick while Barca put 7 past Valencia (61.15) Learn more about your ad choices.
