    How do you Halloween?

In this episode of the Legacy Dads Podcast, Dave and Dante discuss how Christian fathers can lead their families with biblical conviction rather than fear during Halloween by framing the holiday as an opportunity to teach kids how to think discernment-wise about the world. They break down three common family approaches—abstaining (stepping away from themes of evil without isolating from the community), engaging (participating intentionally to build relationships with neighbors and share God's light), and redeeming (using the night, which coincides with Reformation Day, to teach church history and Christ's ultimate victory over sin and death). Regardless of which approach a family chooses, the hosts emphasize five shared responsibilities for dads: deciding boundaries in unity with their wives, teaching discernment rather than blind rule-following, framing spiritual reality around God's sovereignty instead of fear, directly addressing questions about death with gospel hope, and modeling intentional neighborhood love. Ultimately, they encourage dads to use open family dialogue—asking kids targeted questions about what they see and how to welcome others—to raise children who understand God's Word and can live out their faith with humility in a complex culture.   Join the Conversation: Have a story or a struggle you want to share? Email us at dave@legacydads.org and dante@legacydads.org.
