Introducing The Grand Scheme: Snatching Sinatra
Hosted and narrated by John Stamos, The Grand Scheme: Snatching Sinatra is a complicated, nuanced story of one imperfect man trying to redeem himself by pulling off the perfect crime. Did you ever feel like everything’s broken, and it’s your job to fix it? That’s how Barry Keenan was feeling back in 1963. He was broke, unemployed, hooked on booze and pills, and his family was falling apart. Barry needed a miracle. And against all odds, he got one. One day the voice of God came over the radio in Barry’s car and told him there was a simple solution to all his problems: all he had to do was kidnap Frank Sinatra, Jr. For the first time ever, Barry Keenan shares his version of the bizarre story in his own words, from beginning to end. I was recommended to listen to this podcast and it did not disappoint. Love the hosts, the narration of each case makes you think and keeps you listening!
The Problem with Dual Host True Crime
Instead of it being good narration and facts of the story, this, like other dual host true crime I’ve listened to, devolves into too much back and forth speculative banter, and that’s not what I like to hear.
Oddly enough, I was turned onto this podcast after listening to them on an episode of Talk is Jericho, but it seems when they are together alone, they lose track of the actual case story.
This is based on some brief listening so far, and I’ll give it a bit more of a listen to see if this continues to hold true and update my review as necessary.
I have been listening to you both for a while now. I really like how you present each case/story, offering your own opinions openly yet respectfully. I enjoy your friendly banter!
Bravo to you both on your research and hard work.
