Alex and Jake are the only two YouTubers I’ve ever subscribed to, and I did so without knowing they’d have a podcast together, so of course I listen to this. Alex’s videos helped get me through a rough time in college so I like supporting all of his projects.
I remember liking YMS videos back in the day but I have a hard time with him in this podcast. He’s the only host who doesn’t like to self depreciate with jokes, he frequently brings up grievances from outside the show, and he has really hard opinions on things that are hard for me take seriously (it’s fine to not like most of the movies he doesn’t like, but to do that while also holding up the Lion King as some kind of cinematic masterpiece?) His constant snickering while Alex and Jake were describing the things they liked about Avatar was the last straw for me. It comes off as disrespectful and just a bit too much to be able to relax to anymore.
Alex and Jake are pros, I’m sure it doesn’t bother them like it bothers me. And I know Alex and Adam have a long history together so it’s more than what we hear on the show. But at this point all the things I listed are a bit much for me and if I’m going to relax with an escapist podcast this probably isn’t it for now.
