"And the Runner-Up Is" is the Oscar history podcast that highlights past races at the Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress. Host Kevin Jacobsen and special guests break down why winners won, why losers lost, and which films and contenders were the likely runners-up, falling just short of taking home the gold.
Kevin knows his stuff. Excellent podcast.

There are many Awards podcasts out these days. Some great, some not so great. And the Runner Up is one of the great ones. Kevin is an excellent host. He creates such a warm and welcoming environment for his guests. Kevin’s research and knowledge is so impressive that you would never know he wasn’t around during a big portion of the Oscars. Kevin is so thoughtful and detailed when describing a film or a particular performance. He also is so respectful of his criticism of a particular film or performance. Kevin keeps the show at a high level and never goes for the cheap shot. I always look forward to the next episode.
Good podcast except for the episode with Kenzie and Laura

She says like after every single word. So annoying. Why does Laura LaMagna not know how to pronounce especially? Why does she think it is ekspecially? What is wrong with her.
volume pls

Great pod but why is the volume always so low? Especially for the 2004 best actress episode I can barely hear the guest. And no it’s not my headphones, this pod in particular is always super quiet
Wonderful movie podcast!

I love to listen to Kevin talk movies! His best actress series has introduced me to me many new movies and actresses, especially of the 1930s and 1940s. Love the show!
