The “better parent” is the parent who understands and lives the basic fact that children develop best and most emotionally healthy, if they have equal access to BOTH parents and that neither one nor the other parent is more important in a child’s life. Three seasons, over forty episodes and not one word about how to become a better Co-Parent. The host of this podcast seems to regard custody issues as some kind of competition with a prize to win at the end - and my over a decade professional experience as a Psychotherapist and Family Court mediator tells me that he could not be any more wrong about that. I’m happy for his daughter that now, as an adult, she successfully reunited with her mom, but that won’t bring all of the lost years of her childhood back, when she could have gone back and forth between BOTH parents, experience the love and parenting of BOTH parents, have BOTH parents sit in the audience for school events, etc. For anyone currently in the divorce situation: really think about if you want to listen to someone who characterizes the relationship to the second parent of your child as a “war”, or if you not rather envision a better way for you and for your children’s future.
