Christian Outdoors Podcast is owned and operated by Christian Outdoor Adventures, Inc. a 501c3 non-profit operating in Taylors, SC. In 2019, after a lot of prayer and research, founder and host, Pete Rogers launched Christian Outdoors Podcast with one drive and mission. "To talk about all things outdoors and how to enjoy God every day." Through his 25 years as an outdoor writer, author, and speaker. Pete learned that any of the folks in the outdoor arena were Christians without a platform to express their faith. Cable television shied away from overt or subtle mentions of Christianity. Publications were clear, that no mention of God, much less Jesus was not allowed. This left a void for many who live for Christ but who also need to make a living with their product(s). On October 1, 2019, the first episode was released with the commitment to release one episode a week for one full year and then re-evaluate. After that first year, the momentum was slow, but Pete felt that he needed to keep going. The model is simple; Pete interviews stakeholders in the outdoor community and they discuss their passion for the outdoors, and we follow that with a discussion about their individual faith journey. On a regular basis, Pete will bring in two pastors who share his passion, tackle tough theological issues, and share their insight into what the Bible says about that particular subject. Pete has a deep passion for the outdoors, spending more than 200 days a year in the outdoors, hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing wherever he can. But his passion for sharing the good news of Jesus is what drives him to continue to grow the podcast and reach as many people as he can through this medium. We are just getting started, and with God's blessing, and the support of key partners, this ministry will continue to grow and reach folks with the good news of Jesus.

    483 Joey Theil

    Welcome to Christian Outdoors Podcast, I am your host, Pete Rogers. In the early spring of 1971, at just 8 years old Joey Theil and his brothers went to live with his grandparents in rural Georgia. While exploring one of his grandfather’s barns he discovered two things that would change the course of his life. A stash of Fur-Fish-Game magazines hidden away from his grandmother and two wooden box traps his grandfather called “rabbit boxes.”    The magazines opened doors to places and adventures he had never imagined. The traps ignited a fire inside of him that has burned for more than fifty years.  That boy grew up to become a lifelong hunter, trapper, outdoor writer, hunting guide and has done some outdoor television appearances along the way. Although he never set out to become a firefighter or medic, Joey spent his professional career in public safety, retiring in 2024 as a highly decorated Captain with the city of Thomaston, Georgia.  While public safety was his profession, the outdoors was his passion.  As an award-winning outdoor writer, Joey has been involved in outdoor television, including fishing with the troops at Guantanamo Bay Cuba. Durning the time he appeared on the Real Life Outdoors Television Show, he completed two NWTF Grand Slams, the Gooseview Grand slam of Geese, and pursued everything from antelope to gators and countless other critters across North America. Today, he continues as a hunting guide at Gray Ghost Plantation in Mauk Georgia.    Joey is in his third four-year term as an officer in the Georgia Outdoor Writers Association. In the Georgia Trappers Association, over the years he has served as a Regional Director and is currently in his third term as Correspondence Secretary and second term as the GTA’s Legislative/Congressional Director. But beneath the titles, awards, hunts, and trapping accomplishments is a much deeper story.  Joey grew up in a small country church served by a circuit preacher out of Atlanta. Church was part of his childhood, but as he grew older, his relationship became something different. For many years, he described himself as a “Christian on condition” turning to Jesus when he wanted or needed something.  He had experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit but lacked the spiritual maturity to fully understand what God was doing in his life. Today, Joey is the first to say that his walk with Christ is still a work in progress.  Today, Joey’s love for the outdoors is a driving force in his life.     476 - Devotions - We All Need Help Sometimes!

    In this episode of Devotions with Christian Outdoors, Jon reflects on the book of Philippians, specifically the circumstances of its writing. Paul, the Apostle, is under house arrest in Rome, yet he finds a way to minister to others and use his situation for the glory of God. The book of Philippians is one of the prison epistles, written by Paul while he's in custody. Despite the challenges he faces, Paul's effectiveness as a leader requires him to speak to other believers and ask for help. He learns to pivot his circumstances and use them as an opportunity for training and teaching. The speaker highlights the importance of recognizing when we need help, just like Paul did, and being willing to ask for it. The episode also touches on the theme of community and interdependence in the church. Jon shares a personal story about learning to accept help from others during a difficult time in his life. He emphasizes that even the most gifted and called leaders need to recognize their limitations and rely on others. This is seen in the lives of Paul and his companions, Timothy and Epaphroditus, who provide support and help during his time of need.
