#330: Your Workplace Data Protection Rights Just Got New Life. Here's What You Need To Know!

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com Hi there, This week we are looking at the new data protection employment rights that you gained on 19th June 2026. In fact, this right is so new, you are likely to not even know this right exists because there was no build up to it. And, what that right is – is your new employment right to make a data protection complaint directly to your employer or to any organisation that holds your personal data, where you suspect that your personal data has been mishandled.  This new right called ‘The right to make a data protection complaint’ is about your personal information - your health, your finances, your private life, etc. and how much control you have over who gets to see and use that information. This new employment right to complain directly to your employer is therefore, a positive step forward for workers and now that you know this right exists you are in a much stronger position to use it. If this episode helps you understand your data protection rights at work, please share it with someone else who needs to hear it.  And, if you believe your personal data is being mishandled by your employer and they are not taking your data or your concerns seriously, please do not just put up with it. Get proper advice! We have our FREE ‘WRITE IT DOWN’ Bullying Guide and Grievance Complaints Checklist which are available to support you.  Use these guides to help you challenge unfair treatment at work.  We also have our detailed handbook ‘Grievance Procedures: How To Use Grievance Procedures to Make Complaints and Challenge Unfair Treatment At Work’, which is available on Amazon, and will help you with your Grievance in a step by step way.   Check out the rest of our support services below.  Finally… remember to like, review and share the podcast to help us get to 50 reviews.
