    The Mist with Allie Goertz

    Musician, podcaster, and professional Simpsons nerd Allie Goertz stops by the show to dive into Frank Darabont's adaptation of The Mist and talk about how badass her album of Nine Inch Nails covers titled Peeled Back is. Vespe and his guest explore the politics of regular folks stuck in an impossible situation, how they would each react to being in this horrific situation, and have a long debate about whether or not the fanatical villain of the story, Ms. Carmody, is actually right about the origins of the threat that faces them all.

    Suffer the Little Children with Gaspare Randazzo

    Today's guest is the very funny standup comedian Gaspare Randazzo, who you may have seen on Netflix's reality show The Trust. Gaspare is also a teacher and since he wasn't very well-read on Stephen King he was assigned a personal favorite King short story called Suffer the Little Children. Fitting, considering the teacher connection and all that. We talk about growing up with King movies, Gaspare is shocked to learn how many of his favorites were actually based on King stories, what it's like being a teacher these days, and try to figure out if the horror of this story is supernatural or psychological.

    Silver Bullet with Steven C. Miller

    Director Steven C. Miller (Werewolves, Silent Night, Mauraders) joins Vespe to discuss Stephen King's werewolf story Cycle of the Werewolf, with a particular focus on the adaptation Silver Bullet. King penned the screenplay for Silver Bullet and the end result is essentially his second pass at the story where he gets to center the plot on a main character a bit more than his novella, which famously started life as a series of monthly werewolf attacks in a calendar format. We break down why werewolves are such interesting cinematic threats, how the human element of Silver Bullet carries the weight left over by the crappy werewolf design, and give flowers to all the great character actors involved in the movie.

    King and Holidays with Mallory O'Meara and Meredith Borders

    Have you noticed that Stephen King rarely incorporates holidays into his work? Vespe did, so he asked two well-read Kingcast favorites, Mallory O'Meara (GIRLY DRINKS) and Meredith Borders (FANGORIA), to come in and break down the rare instances where King folded in holidays like Christmas and Halloween into his books and short stories. While he tends to avoid centering almost all of his stories around holidays, he does often set them in Winter. We discuss that, the New England of it all, and take some wild stabs at why he keeps returning to the cold in his stories.

    The very funny novelist (Life Wants You Dead), TV writer (Family Guy, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Stephen King fan Evan Waite joins Vespe this week to talk about The Shawshank Redemption, both the novella and the Frank Darabont adaptation. Is this the movie America needs this holiday season? One that is full of hope even in the face of the worst of the worst authoritarian regimes and shows all the worst people getting their comeuppance? It just might be. We talk about that as well as the strength of King's writing, how others just can't compare, and maybe even a dig at Dean Koontz's abysmal hairpiece for good measure.

    Live from KingCon: An Interview with Thomas Jane

    Thomas Jane has starred in multiple Stephen King movies, like The Mist, Dreamcatcher, and 1922. While he may not be a fan of shoes, he is a massive fan of Stephen King's work, so we talk about his love of King's novels as well as the multiple adaptations he's appeared in, all in front of a live audience at the very first KingCon in Las Vegas. You'll hear Jane's Stephen King origin story, as well as some insight into the making of all his King movies. Keep an ear out for his story about the very first cast table read of the script for Dreamcatcher and what he has to say about being considered to play Roland when Frank Darabont was toying with making The Dark Tower.
