  6. Daredevil: Born Again Is Delicious w/ Zack Campbell

Daredevil: Born Again Is Delicious w/ Zack Campbell

Delishees, Jon is feasting on food, pop culture, and lifestyle with host of the “Disney Magic Podcast” on the Zack’s Enchanted Escapades Youtube channel, Zack Campbell! You may remember Jon’s recent appearance on Zack’s podcast to discuss the 1989-1999 Disney Renaissance movie era. If you’re watching on video, you’ll notice Zack has a fun shirt on that supports mental health awareness and greatly colored glasses that reminds Jon of “Today” show weatherman Al Roker.  FOOD: Zack loves to cook Mexican food since there isn’t many restaurant options serving that cuisine in the UK. Tacos and burritos are his favorite, which reminds Jon of a specific burrito he always gets at a restaurant right around the corner from his house in Vermont.  Jon and Zack discuss England’s relationship with Indian cuisine, Tapas bars/Spanish cuisine being more common in Zack’s neck of the woods than Mexican, and discovering Mexican food through an American grandparent in Florida. Jon and Zack also share their favorite drinks to have with Mexican food: frozen fruit margaritas, pina colada, and corn beer. Zack discovered corn beer at Disney World of all places! Jon confesses to getting into pina coladas because of the “Escape” song by Rupert Holmes.  Jon asks Zack why English cuisine like fish and chips & sunday roast w/yorkshire pudding gets a bad reputation. It could be the English not utilizing the spices given to them.  Zack notes how health inspection ratings are very important in deciding which English restaurants to go to and how they’re not allowed to use artificial ingredients or cage chickens. Jon compares Haitian and Vermonter cuisine & Zack is in love with Jamaican food, Caribbean food, and American made Mountain Dew. However, it seems like Zack will take the UK’s Fanta over the US because the orange flavor is actually authentic.  POP CULTURE: Speaking of orange soda, Jon and Zack both agree that Nickelodeon’s “Kenan And Kel” was the gateway to them loving that soft drink. They also discuss the English being more familiar with American TV like “Scrubs” & “Parks & Recreation” than Americans are with English TV like “Strictly Come Dancing” & “Emmerdale”. Jon compares the humor of the British & American versions of “The Office” & Zack compares the British and American versions of Gordan Ramsey’s “Kitchen Nightmares”.   Zack is a huge fan of the Disney Plus series “Daredevil: Born Again” and him and Jon compare this current series with the 2003 Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner movie & the 2015-2018 Netflix series.  LIFESTYLE: Zack enjoyed gorgeous weather on Easter weekend in the English seaside town of Cornwall, which reminds Jon of New England summer beach town tourist destinations like Cape Cod and Old Orchard Beach. Jon and Zack find out that Vermont and England are similar with their “four seasons in a day” weather & they share how their pets react to wind, thunderstorms, and fireworks. Finally, in tribute to Zack’s content, they discuss how Walt Disney World has changed over the past two decades and how it compares to Disneyland. ____________________________________________________________ Follow/like/subscribe/share, leave a review on Apple Podcasts & a five star rating on Spotify! Lost Was Delicious w/ Steve McHale

Delishees, Jon is feasting on food, pop culture, and lifestyle with US Marine Corps veteran, meditation & mindset teacher, & host of “The Chaos Alchemist” podcast Steve McHale!  FOOD: Jon & Steve bond over their love of chicken tikka masala and its many varieties. Whether it be spicy, mild, tomato, or mango flavored, it’s all delicious! They also don’t forget a classic Indian dish: butter chicken, basmati rice, garlic naan, and a mango lassi.  Steve paints a great taste picture for Jon of the cucumber, cilantro, carrots, & more involved in a Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich. Speaking of cilantro, Jon & Steve get into how some people find it soapy tasting. Not surprisingly, Jon doesn’t know what aioli is, but he does know that roasted brussel sprouts taste much better than steamed.  POP CULTURE: Steve is rewatching the 2000’s JJ Abrams/ABC television drama “Lost” with his son and discusses iconic storylines like Jack’s father getting Claire Littleton pregnant, the smoke monster, the “others”, the time travel, the kids who became the soul of the island, and the very divisive series finale. Jon & Steve also note how the 2007-2008 Hollywood writers strike might’ve affected the trajectory of the show’s writing.  LIFESTYLE: Steve is thrilled to have found the perfect hire at his pipe fitting job, he explains to Jon why Marines are nicknamed “Jarhead”, “Devil Dog”, “Leather Neck”, and “Crayon Eater”. Steve actually ate five crayons for a fundraiser!  Finally, Steve shares how meditation saved him from being another veteran statistic, how meditation is like looking at a bonfire, how eating a strawberry can count as meditation, and the common issue of giving grace to thoughts when first learning how to meditate.  ____________________________________________________________ Follow/like/subscribe/share, leave a review on Apple Podcasts & a five star rating on Spotify!
