  1. Are You Looking for What's Wrong? Breaking Free from the Habit of Discontent

Are You Looking for What's Wrong? Breaking Free from the Habit of Discontent

Have you ever noticed that even when things are going well, there can still be a part of you looking for what's missing, what's not working, or what needs to change before you can finally feel at peace? In this episode of Recover Your Soul, I share a teaching from Pema Chödrön's book How We Live Is How We Die that has stayed with me for weeks: the propensity for discontent. The phrase struck me because I could see how often many of us move through life carrying an unconscious habit of looking for what's wrong. We think that if we could just fix the relationship, heal the wound, change the circumstance, or get to the next goal, then we would finally be okay. But what if peace isn't waiting on the other side of everything changing? What if the invitation is to become aware of the lens through which we're already seeing our lives? In this conversation, I explore the Buddhist teaching of the kleshas: attachment, resistance, and delusion. These are the habitual ways we become disconnected from our peace and our true nature. As I share in the Recover Your Soul process, these patterns often show up as our unconscious beliefs, stories, fears, judgments, and attempts to control life around us. Together we'll look at how attachment keeps us grasping for things to be different, how resistance keeps us fighting reality, and how delusion can keep us trapped in old stories and misunderstandings that prevent us from seeing ourselves and our lives clearly. This isn't about pretending everything is fine or pushing away difficult feelings. It's about learning to be present with what is, while bringing more awareness, compassion, and curiosity to the patterns that create suffering. The beautiful gift of this work is that the very places where we get stuck can become doorways to wisdom, healing, and awakening. In This Episode: What Pema Chödrön means by "the propensity for discontent"How the habit of looking for what's wrong affects our happinessUnderstanding the three kleshas: attachment, resistance, and delusionThe connection between Buddhist wisdom and the Recover Your Soul processHow our patterns, beliefs, and stories shape our experience of lifeLearning to witness difficult emotions without judging ourselvesWhy awareness is the first step toward healing and transformationHow to find greater peace in the present moment, even when life isn't perfectMy hope is that this episode helps you become a little more aware of the ways you may be searching for what's missing and instead begin noticing what is already here. We are all learning together how to release old patterns, soften our judgments, and reconnect with the wholeness that has always existed within us. Letting Go of the Roles We Play and Stepping into Authenticity: Lucille Ball and Van Gogh Channeled by Christy Levy with Gary Temple Bodley

Get the Free Recover Your Soul Mini Workbook: www.recoveryoursoul.net/whatisrecoveryoursoul What if the exhaustion you have been carrying is not from your circumstances, but from the performance? This is one of the most unique episodes I have ever brought to this community. I am joined by Christy Levy and Gary Temple Bodley — co-hosts of the An Unimaginable Life Podcast — who work with mediumship and channeling to bring through wisdom from the other side. And what came through was a powerful and fascinating conversation that aligned so deeply with the Recover Your Soul Process. Two famous dead people, Lucille Ball and Vincent Van Gogh — showed up to speak directly to the work we are doing together in our community. And what they shared about the roles we play, the masks we wear, and the exhaustion of performing our way through life to be loved and accepted is so deeply aligned with the healing journey of codependency, people pleasing, and stepping into our authentic self that I think you are going to feel it land in a completely new way. Lucille Ball talks about what it cost her to keep performing — professionally, emotionally, socially — and how she confused other people needing her with being loved. Van Gogh speaks about what it felt like to experience the world with no skin, deeply sensitive, misunderstood, and believing his sensitivity was a failure rather than a gift. And through it all the message is the same one we come back to again and again in the Recover Your Soul process. Your emotions are not to be dismissed. They are your orientation to awakening. The beliefs that are limiting you are not true. And the life you are longing for is not found by becoming someone new — it is found by noticing who you became in order to be accepted. And gently, step by step, letting that go. From Lucille Ball: "Most people think that acting is pretending to be somebody else. But the real performance usually starts long before anyone ever gets on stage." "If you are busy enough sometimes you can outrun your own vulnerability for quite a while." "What remains after you are gone is vibrational and it is simpler. It is how other people feel when they are around you and whether they felt safe, seen, more authentic in your presence. That is what really matters." "Life was just always asking me to be more real. Not more polished." From Van Gogh: "Just imagine standing outside in a storm with no skin. That is how emotional life felt for me." "My sadness meant that something had gone wrong inside me. Because I experienced the world with a great deal of intensity in every way. Beauty affected me profoundly. Rejection did as well. And loneliness. Everything I experienced I just felt so deeply." "No. It contains information. Feel it and follow it. Let it take you to the life you truly want — to the shift of seeing clearly the beauty and the neutrality of the reality that we are in." Depression and the Recover Your Soul Process: Finding Hope, Healing, and Self-Compassion

Depression can feel incredibly isolating, heavy, and difficult to explain—especially when you’re trying so hard just to keep moving through life. In this episode, Rev Rachel shares her personal experience with depression, anxiety, addiction, emotional overwhelm, and the spiritual journey that slowly helped her begin reconnecting with herself, her soul, and a deeper sense of hope. This conversation is not about bypassing mental health or pretending there is a quick fix. It’s about compassion. It’s about understanding that being human is complex, and that our emotional pain, patterns, beliefs, stories, nervous systems, and spiritual journeys are all deeply connected and there is light on the other side. Through the lens of the Recover Your Soul process, this episode explores how depression can sometimes become a protective response to overwhelming emotions, fear, stress, trauma, and self-rejection. Rev Rachel shares how learning to accept herself, release control, process old pain, and reconnect with her Higher Power became part of her healing journey alongside therapy, medication, and spiritual practice. In this episode, we explore:  Depression from a spiritual and emotional healing perspective The connection between addiction, anxiety, and depression Why feelings are important information The role of medication and self-compassion in healing Patterns, beliefs, and stories that contribute to emotional suffering Letting go of self-rejection and learning to love yourself Finding hope and beginning your healing journey one step at a time If you are walking through a dark season right now, this episode is a reminder that you are not broken, you are not alone, and healing is possible in many different forms. “All Is Well” for Anxiety, Fear, and Letting Go of Control

Recover Your Soul Practices Grounded spiritual tools and practices for everyday life I’m really excited to begin a new series on the Bonus Podcast called Recover Your Soul Practices. These shorter episodes are designed to give you grounded spiritual tools and practices that you can return to again and again in everyday life, especially in those moments when you feel triggered, overwhelmed, fearful, or disconnected from yourself. We’ve been exploring the deeper spiritual principles of the Recover Your Soul process together for years now—looking at patterns, beliefs, stories, control, people pleasing, boundaries, and healing. And what I realized is that sometimes we also need practical ways to bring ourselves back into the present moment when life feels sticky, complicated, or activating. These episodes are meant to become part of your emotional and spiritual toolbox. Simple practices to help you reconnect with yourself, your breath, your heart space, and your spiritual grounding. In this first Recover Your Soul Practice, we explore the powerful phrase: "All Is Well" Not as spiritual bypassing or pretending everything is perfect, but as a grounding practice that helps calm the nervous system, release resistance, and reconnect you to a deeper knowing within yourself. This is a practice I still use regularly in my own life, especially when fear, uncertainty, or the desire to control starts taking over. Together, we explore: Using “All Is Well” as a grounding tool Bringing awareness back into the body and heart space Letting go of resistance to what is Trusting the larger unfolding of life Calming the nervous system during difficult moments Connecting with your spiritual self instead of fearful thinking I hope these shorter practice episodes become something you can come back to whenever you need support, grounding, or a reminder that you are not alone on this journey. 5. Choosing Yourself Isn’t Selfish: Boundaries, Saying No, and Taking Your Power Back

Choosing Yourself Isn’t Selfish: Boundaries, Saying No, and Taking Your Power Back

For so many of us, saying no can feel almost unbearable. We want everyone to be okay, and somewhere along the way we learned that keeping the peace often meant abandoning ourselves. But there comes a moment on this journey where something inside says… this doesn’t feel right anymore. In this episode, we continue the conversation around helping versus enabling and move into the sacred work of boundaries. Not boundaries as punishment or control, but boundaries as clarity, self-respect, and learning how to come home to yourself. Through the Recover Your Soul process, we begin to recognize the patterns and beliefs that taught us we were responsible for everyone else’s feelings. We start learning how to trust our own inner knowing, stop overexplaining ourselves, and make choices that align with who we are becoming. Choosing yourself is not selfish. It’s sacred, and so is setting healthy boundaries. This work can feel uncomfortable, especially when old relationships and patterns push back. But there is also freedom and peace that comes when you stop abandoning yourself in order to keep everyone else comfortable. You are allowed to have needs. You are allowed to say no. You are allowed to choose yourself with love. Together, we can do the work that will Recover Your Soul. 6. Healing Mother Wounds: Forgiving Your Mother and Yourself

Healing Mother Wounds: Forgiving Your Mother and Yourself

Mother’s Day can bring up so many emotions. For some, it’s a beautiful day filled with love and connection. And for many others, it can be layered with grief, disappointment, longing, resentment, confusion, or the ache of not having received what was needed. In this episode, we explore the healing of mother wounds through the lens of the Recover Your Soul process. Not to stay stuck in blame or victimhood, but to create space to honestly acknowledge what was felt, what was missing, and how those early experiences shaped the patterns, beliefs, and stories we still carry today. So often we dismiss our own feelings by saying, “They did the best they could.” And while that may be true, healing also asks us to allow ourselves to recognize the impact those experiences had on us emotionally, spiritually, and even within our nervous systems. This conversation is also about forgiving ourselves. As mothers, so many of us carry guilt, shame, regret, and the fear that we somehow got it wrong. We wanted to do better. We wanted to love well. And yet we are human beings carrying our own wounds, patterns, and limitations while trying to raise children in a complicated world. Healing begins when we allow ourselves to stop carrying the blame. This is an invitation to witness yourself with compassion, to honor the truth of your experience, and to begin releasing the weight you were never meant to carry forever. Your healing matters. Your forgiveness matters. And the love you learn to offer yourself has the power to change everything. Together, we can do the work that will Recover Your Soul. Trusting the Process: Letting Go of Control and Stepping Into Your Spiritual Journey

This episode is a little different… and I am a bit nervous about that. I was asked to go a little more into the “woo,” and I could feel both the excitement and the resistance. Because even though spirituality is at the heart of the Recover Your Soul process, it still takes courage to fully trust and step into that space. So today, I did something I’ve never done before. I closed my eyes and allowed a message from my guides to come through. This isn’t about having the answers for you. It’s about trusting that connection within yourself and your own inner guidance, your own relationship with a Higher Power of your understanding. So often we say we want peace and a new way of being… but we’re still trying to control everything around us. This episode is an invitation to begin letting go of that control and trusting your path, even if you don’t fully understand it yet. Take what resonates and leave the rest. That’s always the heart of this work. I’m so grateful you’re here with me as we continue to grow, stretch, and step more fully into our spiritual journey together.
