    2 Peter 3:1-13 - What Will Happen on the Day of the Lord?

    Listener Survey: Give your feedback about The Bible Explained   Today in 2 Peter 3:1-13 we face the scoffers who ask "Where is the promise of His coming?" and learn why the Lord's delay is really His patience: Was early church making it up as they went because they didn't have the Bible yet? "The Lord is not slow concerning His promise... but He is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish." The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, so we look at the parable of the ten virgins and what it means to be ready. How Revelation 20 and 21 help us think through the millennium, the final judgment, and the new heavens and new earth.     Job 11 - Things You Should NEVER Say When a Friend Is Hurting

    Listener Survey: Take a quick survey and help shape The Bible Explained   Today we finally hear from Job's third friend, Zophar, in Job 11 and learn what not to do when someone we love is suffering: Zophar can't handle Job's hard questions, so he shuts them down. "Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves." Possibly the cruelest thing you could say to someone who is hurting. "Can you fathom the mystery of God?" Much of what Zophar says about God is true, but he uses God's power as a threat against a broken man instead of as comfort. Does suffering always mean you sinned? We need discernment, but blaming a true victim is not biblical behavior. Zophar promises life "clearer than the noonday" if Job just repents, as if we could buy our way to paradise.     2 Peter 2:17-22 - Only the Son Can Set You Free

    Give Your Feedback: Take a quick survey to help The Bible Explained   Today we wrap up Peter's warning about false teachers in 2 Peter 2 and see why only Jesus can truly set us free: False teachers are "wells without water, clouds driven by a storm." They promise life-giving water, but Jesus alone is the living water (John 4). They promise liberty while they themselves are bondservants of corruption. A slave cannot free other slaves: "If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36). Freedom in Christ is not freedom to sin (1 Corinthians 6:12). Does verse 20 mean we can lose our salvation? Hebrews 6 and 1 John 2:19 point to "toe-dippers" who never let faith in Jesus sink deep. Test every teacher against Scripture like the Bereans did, because there is only one truth.     Job 10 - You Fashioned Me as Clay

    Listener Survey: Take a quick survey and help shape The Bible Explained   Today we continue in Job 10, where Job puts God on trial and forgets how near His love really is: Job refuses to "perk up." He asks why God contends with him, even while knowing God is not unjust. "You have fashioned me as clay." Romans 9 and 2 Timothy 2 remind us the Potter can remake vessels of dishonor into vessels of honor, and that we really don't know the plan of God. Suffering can uncover buried pride, and Job grows presumptuous toward God. Job sees God's presence as a hunting lion, the lie Satan wants us to believe about our Father.     2 Peter 2:12-17 - Don't Trust a Well Without Water

    Today we continue in 2 Peter 2:12-17, where Peter paints a stark picture of false teachers: False teachers are like unreasoning wild animals. In their destroying, they will be destroyed. "Reveling in the daytime" is brazen hedonism. The prosperity gospel sells a pain-free life, but is not the Gospel of Jesus. The best false teachers are often the nicest people. Love-bombing or flattery does not make doctrine true; Scripture is the final test. Eyes full of adultery and hearts trained in greed entice unsettled souls for gain. Balaam was a "legitimate" prophet who still led Israel away from God for pay. Even his donkey saw more clearly than he did. Wells without water and storm-driven clouds promise life but give none.     Job 9 - How Can a Person Be Right with God?

    Today we dive into Job 9, where Job asks how anyone can stand just before God: "How can man be just with God?" Job accepts his friends' premise, then asks whether anyone can truly be righteous before Him. Our good works cannot make us righteous. Only the blood of Jesus cleanses us (1 John 1:7), not a stack of religious checkmarks. Suffering does not necessarily mean God is angry with you. Unseen things can be at work for a larger purpose. Job longs for an umpire between himself and God, a mediator, and this ancient book already points toward Jesus as High Priest. Job was wrong that God mocks the trial of the innocent. God lets Job put Him on trial and answers him. Scripture is unified.     2 Peter 2:9-12 - Should Christians Speak Evil of Demons?

    Today, we continue in 2 Peter 2, where Peter gives several red flags for spotting false teachers: Red flag #1: walking after the flesh for dishonest gain - Freely you received, freely give. Red flag #2: despising authority - Scripture has plural elders, not a single head pastor. Be like the Bereans. Scripture is the final authority, not any teacher (podcasters included). Red flag #3: slandering the "Dignitaries" - who are the dignitaries, and what Jude 8-9 says about them. Doing good things does not make someone's teaching good.     Job 8 - Just Because It's Old Doesn't Mean It's True

    Jenn continues in Job 8, where Job's second friend, Bildad, speaks up with some big untruths about God and Job: "Shall the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?" Bildad calls Job a windbag. Bildad says Job's children had it coming. Does suffering always mean you sinned? "Many are the afflictions of the righteous." God promises deliverance, not a pain-free life. Just because something is old doesn't mean it's true. Be like the Bereans and judge all things, new and old, according to Scripture.
