    The Power of Communication

Send us Fan Mail **🎙️ Podcast Show Notes: If you’ve ever had a job go sideways, a customer get frustrated, or a tech shut down… chances are it wasn’t the repair. It was the communication… or lack of! In this week’s episode, we break down one of the biggest hidden profit killers in a collision shop… and honestly, in your personal life too: communication gaps. When you don’t clearly explain what’s happening, people don’t just sit back and wait… they start filling in the blanks. And whether it’s a customer, a technician, or your spouse, those blanks usually turn into worst-case stories. Inside your shop, that shows up as missed handoffs, confusion between departments, and a team that slowly checks out. At home, it can look like tension, misunderstandings, or feeling like you’re not being heard. Same root problem, different setting. On the customer side, silence feels like neglect. If you don’t explain delays or next steps, they assume the worst. The same thing happens in relationships… when communication drops, trust starts to fade, even if nothing is actually wrong. The fix isn’t complicated, but it does take intention. Strong leaders and strong partners use clear, consistent communication across three channels: verbal (what you say), visual (what people see), and nonverbal (how you show up). When you match the message to the person, everything runs smoother… at work and at home. We also introduce a simple framework you can use immediately: LUV… Listen, Understand, Validate. It’s a powerful way to reduce tension, build trust, and keep conversations productive in every part of your life. Powerful Key Takeaways: Communication gaps create problems at work and at home faster than you thinkClear, consistent messaging builds trust with your team, customers, and familyThe LUV method (Listen, Understand, Validate) helps turn tough conversations into better outcomesAt the end of the day, great communication isn’t about being nice. It’s about building trust, reducing stress, and creating better results… in your shop and in your relationships. Why Auto Body Associations Matter

Send us Fan Mail **🎙️ Podcast Show Notes: Independent collision repair shops today are navigating a storm that seems to come from every direction. 🌪 Insurance pressure, tight labor rates, technician shortages, and constantly evolving repair procedures make it feel like you’re fighting every battle alone. Add in ADAS calibrations, EV repair, scanning requirements, and safety standards, and it’s easy to look at membership to an organization like the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers, the Society of Collision Repair Specialists or your local Auto Body association and wonder if it’s just another expense on the books without any real tangible benefit? In this week’s episode of the Mind Wrench Podcast, we break down why local, state, and regional collision repair associations exist in the first place and how they can become one of the most powerful tools an independent shop owner has. These organizations help shops come together to create a stronger collective voice when dealing with lawmakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders. When shops unite through associations, they gain the ability to advocate for fair repair practices, push back on harmful policies, and protect the future of safe and proper repairs. We also dig into the practical benefits. Associations create opportunities for training, shared knowledge, and real-world networking that often turns into mentorship and collaboration. Being part of a professional organization also signals credibility to customers and partners who value ethical repair standards and transparency. From legislative victories in Rhode Island to powerful collaboration at the AASP Illinois Collision Repair Trade Show, this conversation highlights how associations are making real change across the industry. Key Takeaways 🔧 Strength in Numbers – When independent shops stand together through an association, they gain a louder voice with lawmakers, insurers, and regulators. 📚 Access to Education and Insight – Associations provide training, industry updates, and peer learning that help shops stay ahead of rapidly changing repair technology. 🤝 Community Beats Isolation – Networking with other shop owners creates mentorship, shared solutions, and a support system that helps you navigate industry challenges. If you’re an independent shop owner tired of feeling like you’re fighting every battle solo, this episode may change how you think about industry involvement. OEM Repairs with Stem Cells- Part II

Send us Fan Mail **🎙️ Podcast Show Notes: Here’s the straight scoop, just for the shop owners and leaders who built their careers while sacrificing their bodies, and now need repairs…  This week’s episode starts with a simple question that hits hard when your knees, back, or shoulders pay the bills: “Do you want to keep your original parts?” From years on concrete floors, under frame racks and inside the booth… knee pain finally reached the point where a surgeon said replacement was the only option. Instead of signing up for a scalpel, I went looking for another door and found it through stem cell therapy. I walk you through my real-world experiences traveling to a stem cell clinic in Tijuana. One trip brought early relief. The second trip, at a higher dose, came with a brutal post-injection flare that nearly knocked me flat before a surprisingly fast rebound. No hype. No miracles. Just the truth of what regenerative medicine looks like when your body earns your income. We break down what reshaped my thinking after reading Tony Robbins’ book - Life Force, including the difference between autologous and perinatal stem cells, why some treatments are only available outside the U.S., and what questions you must ask clinics about sourcing, sterility, and cell counts. I also explain the protocol I used, including ultrasound-guided injections, PRP, and exosomes, in plain language. Just as important, we talk mindset. When things went sideways, preparation, calm thinking, and problem-solving turned fear into a plan. This episode is for anyone told, “You’re out of options,” but still believes there might be another way forward.  Key Takeaways Stem cells vs surgery is a trade-off, not a miracle. Know the risks, costs, and recovery realities.Ask better questions about sourcing, dosage, and safety before choosing a clinic.Mindset is leverage. Planning and courage can carry you through your toughest days, on the job and in life.If you lead a collision business or work with your hands every day, this episode will challenge how you think about pain, recovery, and longevity in the industry. The Real Reward Of Goal Setting Is Who You Become -w/Jim Rohn

Send us Fan Mail **🎙️ Podcast Show Notes: January gets all the hype for fresh starts, but real change does not care about the calendar.  In this week’s episode, we talk straight to shop owners and leaders on their heels, who are busy putting out fires, chasing KPIs, and trying to keep up with everything from ADAS to EVs. The big idea is simple: the best time to design your future is today, not “someday” and certainly not next New Year’s. We break down goal setting in a way that actually works for real life and real shops. Using lessons from author and speaker Jim Rohn, he explains how goals are not just about hitting numbers. They are about the person who you become while chasing them. Money, equipment, and tools come and go. Skills, habits, and judgment stick with you. If the industry feels heavy right now, this episode brings relief. When you clearly design your future, standards, culture, training, and profit goals, the price to get there feels lighter.  A class here, better routines there, cleaner processes, and steady coaching add up faster than you think!  We also talk about keeping your old goal lists, learning from them, and even celebrating when you check something off. That little moment of ceremony builds momentum. This is a reminder that the goal is not just a better shop, but a better leader running it. Start today, take one small step this week, and let the growth compound. 3 Key Takeaways A goals’ greatest value is what it makes of you to achieve itClarity makes change feel lighter and more manageableStart NOW -small, consistent actions beat waiting for the “perfect time” Guest Info: Jim Rohn Sign up for FREE to my "Quote of the Day" below:  https://tinyurl.com/fv5xr68h Support the show Join our Mind Wrench mailing list!  👉 https://bit.ly/3DGNM9o Need one-on-one Mindset or Personal Development coaching? – drop me a note @ Personal Coaching – Rick Selover 👉 CLICK HERE FOR 50% OFF YOUR FIRST MONTH OF COACHING!  (use PROMO code FREE50 in the message box!)   🔗Affiliate Links 👀 Read or listen to Top non-fiction book on Blinkist 20% off membership & 7-day free trial 🧑‍💼 Need freelance help with your business? Positive Paths to Success in 2026- w/ Dave Luehr

Send us Fan Mail **🎙️ Podcast Show Notes: Does it feel like your shop’s part of a twisted magic trick... now you see it, now you don't? 🧙‍♂️🔮🌟 ❓ Slower pipelines  ❓ Increased volume of total losses ❓ Growing insurance pressures … you’re not alone!  In this week’s episode of The Mind Wrench Podcast, we sit down with industry educator and straight-shooter Dave Luehr from Elite Body Shop Solutions to talk about a better way forward for independent shops heading into 2026. Instead of fighting the chaos, Dave explains how smart shop owners can become "anti-fragile"… meaning the business actually gets stronger when things get bumpy. We break down a real shift happening right now: more customer-pay repairs driven by higher premiums and deductibles. That work is there, but only for shops that have the right systems in place. Dave walks us through practical, no-fluff moves you can put to work fast. Front-end triage to grab photos right away. Client-first solutions to keep customers engaged. Built-in financing options through CCC One with Sunbit or other financial tools like Synchrony, so money doesn’t kill the deal. We also dig into “claim avoidance” partnerships with local insurance agents that send work your way even when no claim is filed. Beyond repairs, we explore smart expansions like glass, ADAS calibration, and in-house car rentals—services that boost margins and improve the customer experience without living on the DRP treadmill. Dave also shares why masterminds, coaching, and a simple daily focus system are helping shop owners grow with less stress and more control. If you want a clear, positive path to success in 2026, this episode lays out the playbook. Your 3 Key Takeaways Volatility isn’t the enemy—shops with the right systems can use it as an advantageCustomer-pay work grows when you remove friction with speed, clarity, and financingFocused leadership, accountability, and simple daily priorities beat chaos every time  Guest Links: email Dave Luehr - david.luehr@elitebodyshopsolutions.com 🔗 Positivity Summit 🔗 Bodyshop Assessment  🔗 Elite Body Shop Solutions Customer Pay Financing Sites: 🔗 Support the show Join our Mind Wrench mailing list! Quit Fix'n To Get Ready-Reboot #190

Send us Fan Mail Podcast Show Notes: Ever feel stuck staring at a decision that should be simple, while the industry keeps flying past you at 80 mph? You’re not lazy. You’re not broken. You’re human. And in this re-shared message, we break down why procrastination sneaks into your shop and your life, and how one clear decision can flip the switch on momentum fast. We dig into how our brains are wired to protect us, not push us forward. That’s great when you’re avoiding danger, but not so great when you’re deciding on ADAS training, EV safety procedures, hiring your next tech, or finally fixing that workflow bottleneck everyone complains about. While you’re thinking it over, the world doesn’t pause. OEMs update procedures. Insurers shift expectations. Your team waits. Pressure builds. I share a personal story about waiting too long on a decision and losing years I can’t get back. The relief didn’t come from the perfect answer. It came from deciding. From there, we walk through a simple framework that works in real shops: decide, observe, adjust, and keep moving. No perfection required. We also connect mindset to real results. Better hiring choices. Cleaner processes. Higher profit. Stronger leadership when things get heavy. Tools matter, but mindset runs the shop. Coaching comes up as a force multiplier, not a magic fix, but a way to shorten the learning curve and stop going it alone. If you’re tired of “fixing to get ready,” this episode is your nudge to move. 3 Key Takeaways Waiting feels safe, but it quietly costs you time, energy, and opportunity.Decisions create clarity. Clarity creates momentum. You don’t need perfect answers, just the courage to choose and adjust.Press play, pick one decision, and move forward today. 7. Anticipation... expecting the best to come!

    JAN 5

Anticipation... expecting the best to come!

Send us Fan Mail Show Notes:  If you’ve been paying attention to collision industry news lately, it can feel like every headline is yelling at you to brace for impact. 😬 ⚠️Insurance pressures ⚠️Technician shortages  ⚠️Consolidation within our Industry  ⚠️Constantly changing OEM requirements  ⚠️Economic uncertainty humming in the background like a bad air hose you can’t quite shut off. After a while, that kind of noise pushes a lot of good shop owners into reaction mode instead of intention mode. In this week’s Mind Wrench Podcast episode, we talk about a word our industry doesn’t use enough: anticipation, and we break down how anticipation applies directly to real industry challenges heading into 2026. 🧠 Not fake positivity. Not ignoring reality. But disciplined, intentional anticipation of good things to come, and preparing for them on purpose. Anticipation is the feeling that changes how you show up. It’s what gets you building systems instead of delaying decisions. It’s what pushes you to invest in people, training, and processes instead of shrinking back and playing defense. Because what you anticipate shapes what you prepare for, and what you prepare for usually shows up. 🔮 Here’s the part that doesn’t make headlines: some collision shops are absolutely thriving right now. Not because they got lucky, but because their leaders chose preparation over panic. They stopped letting headlines set their internal thermostat. We also talk about personal anticipation, because burned-out owners don’t lead well. A clear, energized leader builds a clear, energized shop. Anticipation isn’t entitlement. It’s optimism paired with action. And it just might be the most practical leadership tool you carry into 2026. 🧰  3 Key Takeaways ✅Anticipation beats anxiety because it drives preparation, not paralysis. ✅Strong shops don’t ignore challenges; they prepare for opportunity inside them. ✅Personal anticipation fuels better leadership, decisions, and shop culture.  If the headlines have been running your mindset lately, this episode is your reset. Take 10 minutes today and write your 2026 Anticipation List for your shop, your leadership, and your life. Pick one item and take a small step on it this week. 8. Quiet The Noise, and Reclaim Your Focus! -w/Zig Ziglar

Quiet The Noise, and Reclaim Your Focus! -w/Zig Ziglar

Send us Fan Mail **🎙️ Podcast Show Notes: If you’re a shop owner or leader trying to set real goals for 2026, you’ve probably noticed something. Every time you turn on the news, it feels like the sky is falling… Inflation… Layoffs… Global tensions… Doom & Gloom on repeat. That constant noise can wear you down fast and make big goals feel risky or even pointless. In this week’s episode of the Mind Wrench Podcast, we cut through that fog with some straight-talk wisdom and a powerful audio clip from Zig Ziglar. The big message is simple but freeing: what’s going on between your ears matters more than what’s blasting from the TV or your phone. The media makes money on fear, not hope. That doesn’t mean you ignore reality, but it does mean you stop letting worst-case headlines run your life. One of the first steps is subtraction. Turn down the voices that drain your energy so you can hear your own priorities again. When your mind gets quieter, your goals get clearer. Zig Ziglar reminds us that real security doesn’t come from the economy or a company name on your shirt. It comes from being valuable. Honest people who work hard, keep learning, and show up consistently always have options. Even in rough markets, top performers land on their feet because their skills travel with them. We also dive into the power of self-talk. What you say about yourself shapes how you act. When you claim an identity like “I keep my word” or “I’m disciplined,” your daily choices start lining up with that belief. Small habits, done daily, quietly build big results. 3 Key Takeaways Control your inputs: Less negative noise means more focus on goals that actually matter.Build portable value: Skills, effort, and character protect you better than headlines ever will.Let identity lead action: Say who you are, then back it up with small daily habits.2026 will bring uncertainty, that’s a given. But when you protect your mindset and act with intention, your shop, your leadership, and your future get a lot stronger!
