We explore the process as a parent when a child is navigating social situations where they want to be accepted for being themselves, but in our current social environment, a difficult situation that is not of their own doing often results in rejection. Sometimes a report of, “it was not terrible,” is the first step while we are helping our children to build their resiliency. Then we lighten things back up again with chat about Halloween and First Aid events.

We acknowledge that resiliency and self-care skills do not erase the facts of ourvery challenging and difficult things are happening in our world right now. And, of course, we still have to deal with the reality of what we are dealing with in our every day. However, by shifting our mindset that these practices aren’t the solution, but they are part of the process to help stabilize ourselves and mitigate the impact of the stressors in our lives, we can re-center on joy, or perhaps even delight, in our every day as well.
