If I say that I’ve listened to each episode of Ripstop on the Record once through, it would be a lie. I listen ALL the time. Seriously. All. The. Time. On. Repeat. They’re always on when I’m sewing. So I’ve been through each episode multiple times - one right after another. It doesn’t matter that I’ve heard them all before. I’m going to just keep on listening.
Here are just a few of the reasons I continue to listen to ROTR on repeat:
1. I have learned more than I ever thought I would or could about technical fabrics and how to work with them. Denier, tear strength, tensile strength, hydrostatic head, warp and weft are terms I’d never heard before. I’m not an expert by any stretch. For sure. But I do feel just a little more informed and competent because of the team at RBTR.
2. They have taught me so much about making as a process. Jameson, Carter, and the rest of the RBTR team as well as “guests of the pod” have shared so many invaluable lessons about making. They’re always sharing tips about how to best use and what to look for in machines, notions, construction techniques, and so much more.
3. They’ve helped me to believe in myself as a maker and, without even knowing, inspired me to get the gears in motion for creating my own cottage company.
4. They’ve brought such humanity and humor to the entire MYOG space as undeniable exemplars for what the larger community should be like.
So thanks to everyone, past and present at RBTR as well as guests of the pod for keeping those wheels turning: Jameson, Carter, Kyle, Jason, Avery, Isaac, and by extension: Matt, Francesca, Dan, and Ryan.
You’re all the best!
