The HBO show lasted a whopping 6 episodes, yet somehow is still fondly remembered to this day by many who saw it. We look at why this little show had a big impact. 30 years ago this week, an indie band with a cult following released their breakout hit song. Unfortunately, it came shortly after their lead singer had lost his life. The band was Sublime, and the singer was Bradley Nowell. On this anniversary, we do a deep dive into the rise, fall, and full-circle rebirth of one of the most popular bands of the mid-1990s. TGIF? Must-See TV? Episode 252 is chock full of GenX nostalgia to try to keep you cool in the July heat. It starts with one of the most historic music events ever. Live Aid was a one-day event featuring many legends of the day. Taking place in 1985 and on two separate continents, it raised money for famine relief while also creating some enduring musical memories. Six decades of snacking. We celebrate Doritos, which burst onto the scene in 1966. From simple toasted corn tortilla chips to more than 100 flavors worldwide, Doritos have been a staple of after school, sporting event gatherings, teenage parties, and more for most of many of our lives. Countless sports franchises have been in the same city for decades. Some have left their original cities but kept their name. For this Top 5, we are looking at teams that not only left their original city but also were rebranded. Growing up in New England, the Hartford Whalers hockey team was front and center on this list. So much so that it can be taken for granted. It had to begin somewhere, and we're going to look back at the origins of CGI, which go back further than you might realize. Hasta la vista, baby! 35 years ago this week one of the greatest sci-fi films, and one of the greatest sequels ever, was released. Terminator 2: Judgment Day broke the mould of what a science-fiction film could do. Great characters, incredible effects, tremendous acting, and more. We will do a deep dive into this iconic 90s film. The Top 5 heads way back to the bygone days of the early 21st century. Happy Fourth of July Weekend!  In addition to cookouts, beach days, fireworks, and family fun, I have a new mixtape to share with you. Mixtape #4 shines a hilarious light on some of the weirdest laws ever on the books in each of the six New England states.  It was illegal to throw pickle juice on a trolley in Rhode Island? It was illegal to walk backward after sunset in Connecticut? It was illegal to whistle underwater in Vermont? Cows had to wear diapers in New Hampshire? You couldn't place advertisements in cemeteries in Maine? You couldn't bring a rooster into a bakery in Massachusetts? These are just a few examples of some of the weirdest and oddly specific laws that were on the books in New England. Whether you're from one of these states or looking and laughing from afar, you all can enjoy some good head shaking at what was considered illegal back in the day. This week, we are looking at a hilariously poorly acted Kmart employee training video from 1992. It beats you over the head with their 'smart sales plan,' but remember it's not an extended warranty. This week's Top 5 features the worst of the worst when it comes to acting. Poor box office performance, terrible critic reviews, loads of Razzie nominations. Some of these are obvious, maybe a few are surprising, but all make the list of worst actors ever.  And of course, there is a new This Week In History and Time Capsule looking back at the delicious invention of the ring donut.
