    251. When you Don’t “Feel” The Spirit

Send us a text message if you have a question you want answered on the podcast. Have you ever prayed, gone to the temple, or begged Heavenly Father for help and felt absolutely nothing? No peace, no comfort, no emotional reassurance. And then immediately wondered what's wrong with you spiritually? In LDS culture we talk a lot about "feeling the Spirit" and those experiences are real. But many of us have accidentally started believing that emotional feelings are the only evidence the Spirit is present. In this episode, Niki unpacks the many ways the Spirit actually works, especially for women who are emotionally overwhelmed, numb, burned out, or grieving. Send us a text message if you have a question you want answered on the podcast. Some experiences just stick. You can't just decide to be over it. In this episode, Niki sits down with therapist Allie Allen LCMHC to unpack why painful memories get stored wrong, how anxiety makes it nearly impossible to tell the difference between worry and a prompting, and the therapy tool that has people saying, "It doesn't bother me anymore."  _______________________________ Get to know our guest: Allie Allen is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who works with adolescents, adults, and families. Send us a text message if you have a question you want answered on the podcast. You wake up already feeling behind. There are a hundred things in your head, you're trying to be present, you're trying to pray, and your thoughts are still louder than everything else. You're not failing. Your mind is overwhelmed, and when your mind is overwhelmed everything feels harder. There are specific patterns that show up when you get to this place, and once you can see them, you stop fighting yourself all day long. In this episode, Niki walks through the 4 mental health skills that change everything when your mind feels chaotic. The third skill she teaches is the one most LDS women have been quietly battling for years and didn't realize they could interrupt.   _______________________________ Stick around for more Mental Health support & resources:   🎧 The LDS Mental Health Podcast: www.ldsmentalhealthco.com/blog 🎁 Free Resources: www.ldsmentalhealthco.com/free-trainings 🔍 Looking for an LDS Therapist? www.alignedcounselingutah.com 🛒 My Shop: www.ldsmhc.com 📲 Follow on social media for more support and resources: @LDSMentalHealthco  📧 Contact Me: www.ldsmentalhealthco.com/site/contact _______________________________ A quick note: I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but this podcast is my own. 248. Clear the Noise and Feel God Again

Send us a text message if you have a question you want answered on the podcast. You love God. You want to feel Him. But your mind is loud, life feels heavy, and you feel stuck in your own head. If that's you, please hear me. That doesn't mean you're failing spiritually. It doesn't mean God left. It means you're human. This week I'm walking through why the still small voice gets so quiet when your nervous system is overloaded, the four "noise voices" that drown it out. You haven't drifted. You're buried under noise. There's a difference. _______________________________ Join the FREE LIVE CLASS on how to quiet the mental noise and hear God more clearly again. 247. Why You Feel so Torn Inside with JoAnna Bethea ACMHC

Send us a text message if you have a question you want answered on the podcast. As an LDS therapist, one of the most common things I hear from women is, "I feel torn inside."  There' is a part of you that wants to be calm and faithful, and another part that's anxious, or exhausted, or just done. Both can be true on the same day. That's not hypocrisy. That's being human. In this episode, I sit down with JoAnna Bethea, an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor and the very first therapist to join me at Aligned Counseling. JoAnna walks us through Internal Family Systems, the modality she uses with her clients, and shows how it weaves beautifully with the gospel and with the Mind Body Bridging work I already teach.  She shares her own story of a four day anxiety attack the week her youngest son finished his last high school sport, and how that hard season led her into the most freeing work she's ever done. If you've ever felt torn in two, this one is for you. _______________________________ Get to know our guest: JoAnna Bethea is an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Aligned Counseling Utah. She specializes in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and weaves it together with Mind Body Bridging and the gospel of Jesus Christ to help LDS women heal from anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, and the quiet identity loss that often shows up in motherhood and empty nesting. She is also the heart behind a brand new Instagram account, Teaching Them To Fly, for moms walking their kids (and themselves) into the next chapter. If you're in Utah and what JoAnna shared today felt like a light bulb moment for you, she's currently taking new clients at Aligned Counseling Utah. 244. Parenting in a Digital World with the Screen Guys

Send us a text message if you have a question you want answered on the podcast. In this episode, I sit down with Talmage Erickson from Screen Guys to talk about the impact of kids using cell phones and what's actually happening inside their brains when they're on screens… and what we can do about it without going extreme or losing connection. We get honest about the all-or-nothing trap parents fall into, why screens are regulating emotions more than we realize, and how to respond when things get really hard… including discovering pornography use. This isn’t about control. It’s about connection, awareness, and leading your home on purpose. You're not too late! Your kids don’t need perfect rules. They need a regulated parent who knows how to stay close when things get uncomfortable. _______________________________ Get to know our guest Talmage Erickson Website: www.screenguy.com Have Talmage speak to your group: www.speaking.screenguy.com Instagram: @screen_guys _______________________________ Stick around for more Mental Health support & resources:   🎧 The LDS Mental Health Podcast: www.ldsmentalhealthco.com/blog 🎁 Free Resources: www.ldsmentalhealthco.com/free-trainings 🔍 Looking for an LDS Therapist? www.alignedcounselingutah.com 🛒 My Shop: www.ldsmhc.com 📲 Follow on social media for more support and resources: @LDSMentalHealthco  📧 Contact Me: www.ldsmentalhealthco.com/site/contact _______________________________ LDS Mental Health Skills Deck: visit www.LDSMHco.com Get 20% off your Skills deck by entering code PODCAST at checkout.  _______________________________ FREE Meaningful Prayer Mini Course https://www.ldsmentalhealthco.com/meaningful-prayer-registration
