What You Do Matters | 1 Corinthians 8 | Shaun & Shelly Williamson

You can be right and still be wrong in the way you treat people. We open 1 Corinthians 8 with a topic that sounds outdated “food sacrificed to idols” and find a challenge that hits modern Christian life at full force: what we do with what we know matters. Paul doesn’t start with a rule. He starts with the heart. Knowledge puffs up, love builds up, and when we separate the two, pride quietly takes over. We talk through why this was such a big deal in Corinth, where idol worship shaped everyday meals, marketplaces, and celebrations. Paul affirms a strong, clear truth: there is one God the Father and one Lord Jesus Christ, and idols are nothing. That means some believers truly have freedom of conscience. But Paul adds a weighty warning: if our “right” becomes a stumbling block, we can wound a weaker conscience, damage someone’s faith, and sin against Christ by harming the people he died for. Then we bring it home to the gray areas the Bible doesn’t spell out in detail: alcohol, entertainment choices, parenting decisions, schools, tattoos, holidays, and the arguments that can fracture unity and create what many people now call church hurt. The question shifts from “What am I allowed to do?” to “What honors Christ and helps others follow him?” We end with the example of Jesus, who lays down his rights in love, and we invite you to ask the Holy Spirit how to live that out in your relationships. 2. When Winning The Argument Costs The Mission | 1 Corinthians | Week 8 | Jamey Bridges

When Winning The Argument Costs The Mission | 1 Corinthians | Week 8 | Jamey Bridges

What if the biggest threat to our witness isn’t what the world says about Jesus, but what they watch us do to each other? We start with a simple image: a shirt you’d wear to mow the lawn versus a jersey you’d never treat casually because it represents a name, a team, a homeland. That’s Paul’s point in 1 Corinthians 6. If we carry Christ’s name, then our conflict, our speech, and our choices become a public statement about Him.  We wrestle with why believers were suing each other over “small” disputes, and why Paul calls that a defeat even if you “win.” The deeper issue is identity and mission: we can be right and still lose credibility. From there, we talk about church as family, not a store you review and replace, and we push into the hard, practical work of reconciliation. Sometimes the most Christlike move is laying down pride, stopping the side conversations, and making the call that rebuilds trust.  Then the question sharpens: Jesus as Savior feels comforting, but have we made Him Lord? We explore selective surrender, the tension of grace and truth, and Paul’s countercultural wisdom on freedom, temptation, and sexual integrity. We end with the hope-filled center of the gospel: you are cleansed, you are made new, and the Holy Spirit lives in you, empowering a different way to live. 3. A Legacy That Lasts | 1 Corinthians | Week 7 | Pastor Jamey

    A Legacy That Lasts | 1 Corinthians | Week 7 | Pastor Jamey

Father’s Day can be sentimental, but we wanted to go deeper and speak to what actually shapes a home and a church. We start by honoring dads, grandfathers, stepfathers, foster dads, and mentors, and we name the pressure many men carry: you do not have to be perfect to be present. Your kids may not remember every sermon, but they will remember your prayers, your example, how you treat their mom, and whether your faith holds up when life gets hard. The legacy that lasts is simple and rare: a genuine love for Jesus that your family can follow long after you’re gone.  Then the message turns to 1 Corinthians 5, where Paul confronts a church that is tolerating open, unrepentant sin. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s also practical: sin never stays contained. Like yeast, it spreads through a whole community, confuses immature believers, and weakens the church’s witness. We also tackle a common mistake Christians make today, judging outsiders while excusing what happens inside the church, and we talk about why loving accountability is not the same as self-righteous judgment.  We close with a clear aim: restoration is always the goal. We walk through why confrontation should begin privately, why we grieve before we discipline, and why a church needs both grace and truth to keep its heart and its holiness. If this challenged you, share it with a friend, subscribe for more, and leave a review so more people can find the conversation. Thanks for listening!  Follow us on Facebook or YouTube.
