In 1973, David Kushner's 11-year-old older brother Jon biked through a suburban Florida forest to buy candy for his little brother, and never returned. Decades later, now an accomplished journalist and author, Kushner investigates his brother’s case and the profound impact it had on his family and community. Piecing together police reports, interviews, and the memories of loved ones––David tells the story of what happened to his family and his town, after his brother disappeared.

Inspiring
I am a true crime addict but the twist of hope and love in this beautifully told memoir brought tears to this non-crier’s eyes. It’s a must listen!
This is a beautifully written “true crime” story
This isn’t a typical true crime story. It’s almost literary and has the same vibe as a segment from This American Life, which, to me, is the gold-star icon that all podcasts should aspire to be. :) It’s a tragic story obviously, but I appreciated the telling by the victim’s brother. Don’t miss.
True crime but also autobiographical
Heartbreaking story, beautifully told. I love true crime serialized podcasts. This is that, but it’s told by brother of the victim. It’s about the crime and the impact of the family. Think “Salt of the Earth” by Jack Olson. If you don’t know what I’m talking about - you MUST check it out. It’s the best audiobook/ fiction true crime I’ve ever come across.
