What If September 12 Never Ended

Drop us a note about the podcast. Psalm 31 does not sound like a comfortable bedtime reading when you take it seriously. We start with a raw plea for protection and connect it to a chilling modern story: Amina Hajmal, a Brooklyn woman sent to Pakistan for an arranged marriage, then brought back to the United States with help from US officials, followed by threats and deadly retaliation. That story forces a question many of us would rather avoid: do we actually believe evil is real, and are we prepared to live like it is? From there, we sit with a line that won’t let go: “Every day is September 12, 2001.” We talk about spiritual warfare and the way darkness shows up in everyday life, then we pray directly for strength, repentance, comfort for the brokenhearted, and courage for leaders and families. If you’re looking for a Christian podcast grounded in Scripture and unafraid of cultural conflict, this conversation stays blunt, personal, and practical. We read marriage verses from Proverbs 31 and argue that the text centers on fearing the Lord, honoring family, and building a home with purpose, not chasing a trendy identity. Then we go where many churches refuse to go, straight into 1 Corinthians 5 on sexual immorality, hypocrisy, and why unchecked sin spreads like yeast. We close with Proverbs 21, a short remembrance of 9/11 victims by name, a Medal of Honor story, and Founders-era quotes that raise the stakes on faith, liberty, and duty. Christian Schools Built America And We Forgot

Drop us a note about the podcast. A single Psalm can feel like a mirror when life turns hard, and Psalm 30 doesn’t flinch. I start with the words “Hear me, Lord, and have mercy on me” and follow the turn the text insists on: mourning can become joy, silence can become praise, and gratitude can become a daily discipline. If you’re tired, anxious, or angry at what you see around you, this opening sets a grounded, biblical frame for the rest of what I’m about to say. From there, I react to a recent Washington case involving a teenager and family violence, and I argue that culture and belief systems are not harmless background noise. I also flag the Clancy trial and the jury outcome, urging you to look closely at what a hung jury reveals about judgment, moral clarity, and the stories we tell ourselves about innocence and accountability. Then we get concrete about marriage and holiness. Hebrews 13:4 puts marriage honor and sexual purity in plain language, and I explain why Christians shouldn’t treat intimacy as a side issue. A longer reading from 1 Corinthians 4 presses on pride, leadership, and what faithful stewardship looks like when the world is watching. I also pause to remember 9/11 victims by name, share a Medal of Honor citation, and trace the explicitly Christian roots of American universities, including Berkeley and Northwestern, with references to Genesis 1:3, Philippians 4:8, and John 1:14. America Holds Together Only On Christ As The Foundation

Drop us a note about the podcast. Some episodes ask for your attention. This one asks for your backbone. We start with Psalm 29 and the claim that God still rules over the floodwaters, still reigns as king forever, still gives strength, and still blesses his people with peace. From there, we wrestle with what happens when a culture gets squeamish about naming evil, when we trade truth for comfort, and when we slowly forget the price that was paid by victims and heroes alike.  We pray for listeners, for the brokenhearted, and for leaders in the pulpit and in the state, then we bring the Bible down into everyday choices with Proverbs 21:9 and a blunt warning about constant conflict in the home. Next, 1 Corinthians 3 pulls the camera back: personalities, parties, and famous names are not the foundation. Jesus Christ is. That conviction shapes how we think about national life, personal responsibility, and the temptations to negotiate with what we know is wrong.  We also reflect on September 11 and the danger of historical amnesia, especially when people start questioning basic facts because the truth hasn’t been taught clearly. Then we remember courage through the story of Brigadier General Frederick Walker Castle and close with Woodrow Wilson quotes about national memory, Scripture, and why a nation needs more than slogans to survive.  If this conversation sharpens your thinking or steadies your faith, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find the American Soul Podcast. A Fallen Officer, A Media Filter, And A Call To Faith

Drop us a note about the podcast. A police officer is hunted down and ambushed after a routine arrest, and most of the country never hears his name. We start there with the killing of Sergeant Christopher Fisher in Warm Springs, Georgia, then ask a blunt question: what determines which tragedies become wall-to-wall coverage and which ones disappear. When media narratives, race, and politics shape attention, it becomes harder to see clearly and easier to excuse what we would condemn in any other context.  From that hard opening, we slow down and do what Christians are supposed to do when the world gets loud: pray, read Scripture, and measure our reactions against God’s Word. We walk through Proverbs 5 on marriage, desire, and mutual responsibility, then read 1 Corinthians 2 and 3 on the difference between worldly wisdom and the wisdom of God, the call to spiritual maturity, and what it means to have “the mind of Christ.” We also turn to Psalm 28 and Proverbs 20 with a warning about rash vows and the cost of careless promises.  The back half broadens into national memory and Christian heritage: a solemn reminder of September 11, the names of victims, a Medal of Honor spotlight on Michael Cassidy, and founders’ statements that point straight to salvation through Jesus Christ. If you care about biblical worldview, media bias, law enforcement, Christian marriage, and the spiritual health of America, this conversation ties those threads together without pretending any of it is easy. The Foolish Power Of The Cross

Drop us a note about the podcast. The cross doesn’t audition for modern approval, and that’s exactly why it confronts us. We open with 1 Corinthians 1 and the blunt claim that the message of Christ crucified sounds like foolishness to a world addicted to status, debate, and “smart” takes, yet it is the power of God for those being saved. We talk candidly about the inner battle too, because sometimes your own mind will try to talk you out of simple, stubborn faith. From there, we get intensely practical with Titus 2: what sound teaching looks like in real homes, real marriages, and real church life. We unpack roles, character, and mentorship across generations, and we stress discernment: not every voice that sounds religious is aligned with Scripture. If marriage advice contradicts the Bible, we reject it, and we recommit to daily Bible reading and faithful examples we can actually follow. We also pause to remember sacrifice through the Medal of Honor story of Sergeant First Class Alwyn Cash, whose courage under fire forces a question: who do we choose to honor, and why? That leads into a broader reflection on Christian faith and America, including founders’ words from their wills, and the conviction that the strongest cultural “fix” is still the simplest spiritual one: spread the gospel, serve the vulnerable, pray, and live with integrity. What Still Holds A Nation Together

Drop us a note about the podcast. A nation can watch horror unfold and still forget what happened, who did it, and what held us together afterward. We start with Psalm 27, a blunt reminder that evil is real but fear does not have to rule us, because the Lord is our light and our fortress. Then we slow down and pray for mercy, protection, and peace for families, leaders, and those who are hurting, anxious, abused, or brokenhearted.  From there, we get practical about gratitude and responsibility. Proverbs 31 pushes us to thank God for a faithful spouse and to stop taking good marriages for granted. We also talk about America’s freedoms and liberties and why they require courage to defend. I share my conviction that you can’t untangle America from God and Jesus Christ and still have America, and that spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ is the most important work we can do for our country and for the world.  We revisit September 11 by reading Billy Graham’s 9/11 message from the Washington National Cathedral, reflecting on the mystery of iniquity, the need for each other, and the possibility of hope even in grief. We also confront the spiritual stakes behind tragedy and end with a direct invitation from Romans 10:9 and a closing prayer. The Sacred Kiss List And A Very Serious Rant

Drop us a note about the podcast. A child’s death should never be a talking point, but it also can’t be something we file away as “not my problem.” We start with a Houston murder case and the claim that two suspects were arrested and then released, and we wrestle with what it means when government policy, border enforcement, and public leadership decisions collide with real human suffering. If you’ve ever felt numb reading the headlines, this conversation pushes back hard against that detachment. From there, we slow down and reset with prayer and gratitude, then we turn the spotlight inward. I talk about how easy it is for church people to condemn the sins we’re comfortable judging while ignoring the ones that quietly destroy homes: dysfunctional marriages masked by appearances, kids starved for attention, and careers that get treated like virtue while relationships wither. Along the way, we read Scripture from Romans 16, Psalm 26, and Proverbs 20:19 on divisive voices, integrity, and the danger of gossip and “chatterers,” tying biblical wisdom to everyday choices about who shapes our character. We also touch on American identity through a Medal of Honor story, a Marine Corps argument for high standards and unit cohesion, and founders’ statements of Christian faith from their wills and writings. We close with a stark warning about faith in public life and what happens when a nation forgets the spiritual roots that shaped its values. How Sanctuary City Policies Turn Taxpayers Into Sponsors Of Crime

Drop us a note about the podcast. A single decision by a politician can feel distant, right up until it lands on your street, your budget, or your family. We start with 1 Timothy 5:8 and a blunt challenge: if we don’t provide for our own, what does that say about our faith and our priorities as an American family? From there, we revisit the murder of Lakin Riley and walk through why we believe the chain of illegal immigration enforcement failures and sanctuary city policies matters, including the uncomfortable question of taxpayer funding and who ultimately pays for public choices.  Then we pivot from national consequences to home life, because responsibility starts there. We read Genesis 9 and talk about “be fruitful and multiply,” how abortion and cultural resistance to children reshape the nation, and why Christian families shouldn’t treat God’s blessings as optional. We also tackle a marriage question that sparked pushback online: if many men say they need respect and sex day to day, what do wives need day to day, and why do we mock one set of needs while demanding sympathy for the other? Our aim is fairness, honesty, and a marriage ethic rooted in Scripture, not trends.  We keep the devotional backbone strong with prayer, readings from Romans 15, Psalms 25, and Proverbs 20, plus a quick but important note on Bible translation choices in Romans 16:1 and Phoebe’s role. We close with a civic education update on teaching the atrocities of communism, and reminders of America’s Christian heritage through the faith-filled last words of founders like Robert Treat Paine and Charles Pinckney.  If you got value from this, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find the show.
