    260. About the Mission Bubble

Episode 260: The Mission Bubble explores something I see all the time with missionaries, returned missionaries, and missionary moms: the tendency to get so immersed in the mission experience that we lose perspective. In this episode, I talk about the "mission bubble," the unique environment that helps us focus, grow spiritually, develop confidence, learn discipline, and deepen our relationship with God. But sometimes that same mission bubble can magnify challenges, distort our perspective, and cause us to be much harder on ourselves than we would be outside of the mission. I share the story of a missionary who felt guilty for taking a day off while she was sick and use that experience to explore perfectionism, overgiving, self worth, comparison, burnout, obedience, mission culture, emotional wellbeing, and learning to trust your own revelation. We talk about why everything can feel so urgent, permanent, and high stakes on the mission, how mission pressure can amplify anxiety and self criticism, and why it's important to occasionally step outside the bubble and see things through a more compassionate and realistic lens. Throughout this episode, I offer practical "mission bubble reality check" questions to help missionaries create perspective, develop self compassion, strengthen emotional resilience, trust God, and navigate the mission experience with more wisdom and grace. If you've ever found yourself questioning your worth, overanalyzing your performance, struggling with perfectionism, or feeling like you're never doing enough, Episode 260: The Mission Bubble will help you step outside the bubble and see yourself more clearly. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help LDS missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. 259. Before You "Wait For Each Other"

Episode 259: Before You "Wait For Each Other" is a conversation I've been wanting to have for a long time. Whether you're preparing to serve a mission, currently serving, a returned missionary, a missionary parent, or navigating a boyfriend or girlfriend relationship before a mission, this episode is for you. I dive into common questions about dating, waiting for each other, mission relationships, emotional independence, homesickness, self confidence, and how to approach these relationships in a healthy and supportive way. In this episode, I share some of the biggest challenges I see missionaries face when they are emotionally attached to someone back home. We talk about emotional dependence, confidence that comes from another person, surrendering to the process, trusting God's timing, relationship anxiety, emotional regulation, jealousy, uncertainty, and learning how to create your own emotional stability. I also share practical questions you can ask yourself to determine whether a relationship is supporting your mission experience or making it harder than it needs to be. If you've ever wondered whether you should wait for someone, how to handle a relationship during a mission, or how to stay emotionally grounded when someone you care about is far away, Episode 259: Before You "Wait For Each Other" will give you practical tools, mindset shifts, and a healthier perspective on relationships, faith, confidence, and trusting the process. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help LDS missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. 258. When You Feel Walked On

Episode 258: When You Feel Walked On is for missionaries, returned missionaries, missionary moms, and anyone who has ever felt exhausted, resentful, or quietly taken advantage of from always being the one who says yes. In this episode, I share a conversation I had with a missionary who asked me a powerful question: "What do you do when you feel like people are walking on you?" We talk about overgiving, people pleasing, resentment, emotional boundaries, Christlike service, and how to know when it might be time to stop giving from depletion and start giving from fullness. I share practical mindset tools to help you rethink overgiving, including how to tell when resentment is quietly building, why we often tie our worth to helping others, and the two questions that can completely change the way you make decisions: Do I actually want to do this? and Do I have the capacity to do this? We also talk about emotional energy, setting healthy boundaries on the mission and after the mission, vulnerability, people pleasing, discernment, and why not everyone gets full access to your "Peter Parker" side. If you have ever struggled with saying no, felt emotionally drained from always showing up, or wondered how to balance Christlike love with healthy boundaries, Episode 258: When You Feel Walked On will give you practical tools, perspective shifts, and permission to start giving from overflow instead of depletion. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help LDS missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. 257. A Simple Script for Missionary Moms

Episode 257: A Simple Script for Missionary Moms is for every missionary mom, dad, mission leader, or loved one who has ever wondered, "What do I say when my missionary is struggling?" In this episode, I share one simple but powerful script that can completely change the way you support missionaries, returned missionaries, and young adults through hard days, discouragement, anxiety, homesickness, self doubt, or even thoughts of coming home from the mission. We talk about why our brains naturally want to fix problems, why missionaries often think there is something wrong with them for struggling, and how your response can either add pressure or create safety and connection. I walk through the simple practice of normalize, validate, repeat and explain how learning to "hold space" instead of trying to fix things can strengthen trust, confidence, emotional resilience, and relationships with your missionary or returned missionary. Whether your missionary is struggling with mission anxiety, discouragement, confidence, self worth, social anxiety after the mission, or simply feeling overwhelmed, this episode will give you practical tools and a simple script to help you respond in a way that feels calm, loving, and supportive. You do not have to fix your missionary, solve every problem, or say the perfect thing. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply remind them that it makes sense, it is okay, and you are there to help them move through it. Episode 257: A Simple Script for Missionary Moms will show you exactly how. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help LDS missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. 256. Rethinking Mission Stress

Episode 256: Rethinking Mission Stress is all about understanding why stress shows up on the mission and how to work with it instead of feeling overwhelmed by it. In this episode, I share a real situation from a missionary mom and walk through what is actually happening in your brain when stress hits. We talk about how your brain is wired to see things as high stakes, even when they are not, and how that can create pressure, anxiety, and emotional overload for missionaries, returned missionaries, and missionary moms. I break down the most common ways we accidentally make things feel heavier than they need to be, like trying to fix what is not ours to fix, comparing ourselves to others, or tying our worth to our performance. Then I give you simple mindset and emotional tools to help you rethink stress, create healthier boundaries, and stay grounded in your mission experience. This is especially helpful if you are dealing with mission anxiety, companion stress, pressure to perform, or feeling responsible for things outside your control. You do not need to eliminate stress to have a meaningful and successful mission. You just need to understand it and learn how to use it in a way that supports you. Episode 256: Rethinking Mission Stress will help you shift from overwhelming pressure to a more useful and empowering way of moving forward. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. 255. How One Insight Can Change Everything

Episode 255: How One Insight Can Change Everything is all about how a single shift in perspective can completely transform your confidence, your direction, and the way you see yourself as a missionary, returned missionary, or missionary mom. In this episode, I share a personal story about an identity shift I experienced and how something I once saw as a weakness became one of my greatest strengths. We dive into how the meaning we assign to our experiences shapes our emotions, our actions, and ultimately our mission experience and post mission life. If you've ever felt like you need to prove yourself, questioned your qualifications, or believed that certain traits are holding you back on your mission, this episode will help you see things differently. I walk you through simple mindset tools to question your default thoughts, flip your perspective, and open yourself up to new insights. This is powerful work for missionaries struggling with confidence, comparison, anxiety, or feeling like they're not enough, and it applies just as much to life after the mission. You don't need more experience, more credentials, or more proof that you're capable. You may just need a clearer way of seeing yourself. When you shift the meaning you've been giving your experiences, everything can change. Episode 255: How One Insight Can Change Everything will show you how to start creating that shift on purpose. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. 254. Fortify the Ship

In Episode 254: Fortify the Ship, I share a powerful perspective shift for missionaries, returned missionaries, and missionary moms who feel worried about how hard a mission—or life—can be. Instead of trying to calm every storm, fix every companion, or control every circumstance, I teach why the real work is learning how to strengthen yourself from the inside out. Missions are meant to be 50/50—filled with both incredible moments and difficult emotions—and that's not a problem to solve, it's part of the process. In this episode, I break down three essential tools to help you "fortify your ship": separating your worth from your experience, learning how to process emotion instead of avoiding it, and building deep self-trust. These internal skills are what allow you to move through discouragement, homesickness, anxiety, and unmet expectations without sinking. When you stop needing your mission—or your life—to feel a certain way, you create the ability to navigate anything that comes your way with confidence and resilience. Most importantly, in Episode 254: Fortify the Ship, I want you to understand that the storm is not the problem—it's the training ground. You are strong enough to feel your emotions, manage your mind, and come out stronger on the other side. Whether you're preparing, currently serving, or supporting a missionary, this episode will help you stop trying to fix the outside and start strengthening what matters most—your mindset, your emotional resilience, and your relationship with yourself. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. 253. Every Day is a Good Day

In Episode 253: Every Day Is a Good Day, I share a message that came from a recent sacrament meeting talk and how it applies directly to missionaries, returned missionaries, and anyone navigating waiting periods, hard seasons, or emotional challenges. Whether you're in mission prep, waiting on a visa, struggling to find your place, or just feeling like life isn't going the way you expected, this episode is a reminder that both the best days and the worst days are part of God's plan for growth. I talk about the reality that life often feels like "the wind did never cease to blow," but that those winds are always moving us toward something greater. We dive into what it really means to "let God prevail," and how that doesn't mean everything works out the way we think it should—it means trusting that God's plan works even in disappointment, uncertainty, and discomfort. I share personal experiences, gospel insights, and powerful reminders that joy is not the absence of hard days, but the presence of Jesus Christ in all of them. This episode will help you reframe your challenges, understand the purpose behind both best days and worst days, and strengthen your trust in Heavenly Parents and the Savior. Most importantly, in Episode 253: Every Day Is a Good Day, I want you to walk away knowing that you are a child of God on your best days and your worst days—and that every day can be a good day because of Jesus Christ. Even when things don't feel good, His Atonement sanctifies every experience for your growth, your healing, and your good. This episode is a powerful reminder to trust the process, lean not on your own understanding, and remember that the real miracle is that we get to partner with Him in this journey. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review.
