Beyond the Birds & Bees: Raising Girls Who Trust Their Bodies

Girls need rites of passage, not just period education. We're talking puberty, periods and how we as mums, teachers, communities and guides can help our girls feel confident, prepared and supported when they have their first menstrual cycle. My guest Kate Andrews is the founder of Wild Creative, offering holistic education and rites of passage programs for young people. With nature as her preferred classroom, Kate runs outdoor programs focused on building children’s social and emotional intelligence, and facilitates rites of passage retreats and camps for pre-teens and teens. Her work has culminated in her beautiful book, Bodywise: A Puberty and Period Guide, a resource created to support girls and families with puberty and period education that goes beyond the purely biological.  In this episode, Kate and I speak about why girls need period and puberty education before their first bleed, not only once visible signs arrive. We talk about how change begins invisibly first, why waiting for children to ask questions is not always enough, and how mothers and caregivers can begin these conversations in small, age-appropriate, imperfect ways. We also explore the power of Bodywise as a companion resource — something girls can dip in and out of, return to over time, and use for reflection as they begin asking, “Who am I becoming?” Together, we explore the value of ritual within rites of passage, and why information alone is not enough. We talk about the concentric circles of support children need: parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, mentors and community, and why young people need trusted adults beyond their immediate family as they grow. We explore: why puberty education needs to be more than “the birds and bees” and how puberty is a transformation of the whole being, not just the body  why girls need early conversations before visible puberty changes arrive and how to start small when your child withdraws. why books and journals can be powerful conversation starters, and how Bodywise supports girls with period education, reflection and self-knowledge why ritual and rites of passage help young people embody change and  why adolescents need mentors, community and a village beyond the family unit how nature teaches children about cycles, flux, discomfort and transformation and what changes when girls know their bodies are sacred, unique and ever-changing how puberty and perimenopause mirror each other as rites of passage This episode is for anyone wanting their own daughter or the children in their care to have an empowered puberty - by being willing to talk where others won't. From People Pleasing to Priestessing: The Gifts Hidden Inside Survival

What if we can become recovered people pleasers and use the very skills we learned to survive to become extraordinary space-holders? Today we're exploring the power of the attunement, empathy and regulation skills so many of us learned as young girls, and how those same skills can become the foundation of transformational leadership when we stop abandoning ourselves inside them. Today on Wild Flow, I'm joined by Leilani Garcia, speaker, retreat facilitator and creator of The Artful Alchemist and The Remembrance Method™ – an integrative approach that weaves together nervous system regulation, subconscious transformation and embodied leadership. Drawing on nearly two decades of creating executive and transformational experiences, Leilani helps individuals and organisations cultivate greater resilience, authenticity and purpose. But before this became her work, Leilani experienced a profound awakening that led her to leave an abusive marriage and discover she had Celiac disease. What followed was a familiar path for many women listening – a season of unraveling, healing, and moving through multiple deaths and rebirths that ultimately brought her back to herself, her love of life, and her priestess path. Together, we explore the hidden gifts inside people pleasing, what happens when your body has spent years in protection mode, and the sacred process of returning to yourself after seasons of rupture, illness, divorce and profound change. We talk about nervous system safety, the sacred pause, and why so many women learn to read a room long before they ever learn to read themselves. This conversation is ultimately about remembrance. About who we become when we stop abandoning ourselves, soften our grip on old identities, and begin leading not from fear or conditioning, but from presence, truth and deep inner safety. I think so many of you are going to recognise yourself in this one.    CONNECT WITH LEILANI Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theartfulalchemist/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/p/The-Artful-Alchemist-Inc-61553997712543/ Website: https://www.theartfulalchemist.com/ If anyone feels called to explore this work more deeply after listening to our conversation, Leilani is offering listeners 20% off any of her Remembrance experiences or the Mount Shasta Healers' Recalibration Retreat using the code WILDFLOW. Ancestral Womb Wisdom, African Water Healing & Natural Contraception

Today’s conversation is about fertility, but not only in the narrow way we often speak about fertility. We’re exploring fertility as body literacy, ancestral wisdom, womb sovereignty, lineage memory and the creative intelligence that lives inside the female body. Chanana McGarry of Womb Literacy brings a powerful lens to this conversation through her work with natural fertility and her African lineage, and I’m especially excited to explore what happens when womb wisdom is remembered not as something new, but as something ancient, sacred and deeply needed in our modern world. My guest Chanana is a certified Fertility Awareness Educator. After two unplanned pregnancies and over a decade of research, she teaches women to prevent pregnancy naturally with 99.6% effective, hormone and guesswork free contraception. As a direct descendant of the Mujaji Rain Queens of Southern Africa, she weaves together science with ancestral feminine wisdom, making her perspective unique in the natural birth control and holistic women’s health space.   We're hitting on: How both Chanana and I were deeply initiated into body sovereignty and womb wisdom by our unplanned pregnancies Ancestral wisdom as remembered - not newly learnt knowledge - and how Chanana's lineage from Southern Africa taught their daughters to read their cervical fluid as a fertile sign. When you don't trust natural fertility, Chanana explains how scientific evidence backs up the effectiveness of the symptom-thermal method for contraception, and how body literacy helps us advocate in medical system not trained in cycle awareness How Chanana teaches her daughter natural fertility to give her informed consent, and how she's taught her son to respect menstruation, and tend to her during her bleed.  This is SUCH a juicy conversation bridging modern science with ancestral wisdom. It's not about telling every woman what birth control choice she should make. It is about asking whether women have ever truly been given the full picture. It is about body literacy, informed consent, ancestral wisdom, reproductive sovereignty, and the right to understand the language of our own fertility.     CONTACT CHANANA Instagram: @wombliteracynow Facebook: facebook.com/wombliteracy Website: www.wombliteracy.com Decolonize Your Birth Control: Read or listen to the essay (no opt in required) at www.wombliteracy.com/decolonize-your-birth-control   Ready to grow roots, revenue and reputation to sustain your own sacred business expansion? Solstice, Cerridwen, Jiu Jitsu & Wanting What You're Not Ready For

Solstice, Cerridwen, Jiu Jitsu and Wanting What You're Not Ready For The Slow, Sacred Work of Becoming We live in a world obsessed with speed. Faster healing, faster success, faster answers and faster transformation. But what if the very thing you're trying to rush through is the season shaping you to hold what comes next? In this Winter Solstice episode, Charlotte weaves together the myth of Cerridwen's cauldron of wisdom, her reflections after leading Solstice Temple, and the unexpected lessons she's learned through three years of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Together they point to one powerful truth: Just because you desire something doesn't mean you've become the woman who can hold it. In this episode, we explore: Why so much of our suffering comes from trying to skip ahead The difference between desire and readiness  3 things we constantly try to rush in life & business Why what you want has eligibility criteria  How comparison is a sign of grief & distrust  Why the woman who can hold your next level is forged in the very seasons you're trying to escape  The medicine of a year and a day, and what it means to trust the slow, sacred work of becoming This episode also includes a guided reflection and journal prompts to help you explore the season you're currently in and what it may be preparing you for. Journal Prompts Where in my life am I confusing desire with readiness? What capacity, identity or devotion is this season asking me to develop? Where am I grieving that I cannot skip ahead? What medicine might this season hold that I cannot yet see? If I trusted that nothing was late, how would I show up differently tomorrow? What would it look like to keep stirring the cauldron in devotion, even without immediate answers? The wisdom isn't waiting on the other side of this season, perhaps the wisdom is this season. A year and a day.A season at a time.A spiral at a time. If this episode resonates, I'd love to hear from you. Share it to your stories, send it to a sister walking through her own threshold of becoming, and tag me @charlotte.pointeaux so I can see what medicine this conversation stirred in you.   Ready to grow roots, revenue and reputation to sustain your own sacred business expansion? How To Grow Your Sacred Business Without Overgiving & Burning Out

So many sacred space-holders, healers, coaches, facilitators and mystics have built businesses where their income is directly tied to their own time, energy and live presence. And while this work is often deeply transformational, eventually many women reach the same threshold: “I can’t keep holding more.” In this episode, I explore the hidden business model pattern affecting so many sacred women — where growth itself begins to feel exhausting because the business depends entirely on the practitioner’s nervous system, capacity and energetic output. I share why so many women unconsciously confuse overgiving with devotion, why live transformational work can become energetically unsustainable over time, and the deeper identity threshold that appears when a practitioner becomes ready to evolve into leadership. I explore the hidden emotional resistance many sacred practitioners feel around creating non-live offers, supportive pathways and scalable structures — especially when they have only ever been taught to trust transformation through direct energetic exchange. This episode is also a reframe around what sustainable sacred business can actually look like. Not less intimacy, depth or integrity - but stronger structures, deeper support, cleaner pathways and businesses that no longer require women to constantly self-extract in order to grow. I also share personal reflections from my own recent business threshold, stories emerging inside my client work, and why I believe sacred space-holders deserve businesses that nourish them as deeply as they nourish others.  If you’ve been feeling the tension between wanting to expand your impact… while knowing your body, nervous system and capacity cannot simply keep holding more live work — this conversation is for you. If this episode resonated, share it with a sister, leave a review, or send me a message to let me know what landed most deeply for you.   Charlotte xxx Ready to grow roots, revenue and reputation to sustain your own sacred business expansion? Golden Shadow Work: Unlocking the Hidden Power You’re Afraid to Embody

What if the thing stopping your expansion is not only fear, trauma, or self-doubt… …but the parts of yourself you secretly know are powerful?  In this deeply layered episode, Charlotte explores the concept of the *golden shadow* — the radiant parts of ourselves we learned were unsafe to embody fully.  Your leadership, your eros, your beauty. Your authority, your creativity. Your sacredness. Your desire to be deeply seen.  This conversation weaves together depth psychology, feminine leadership, shadow work, soul work, embodiment, Temple, and the myth of Inanna to explore why sacred women can become more comfortable identifying with their wounds than with their magnificence. Inside this episode, Charlotte explores:  The difference between the “sinister” shadow and the golden shadow Why healing and expansion require different things from the nervous system How women unconsciously sabotage visibility, leadership and growth The hidden fears beneath being fully seen Why staying small is not always humility The difference between ego work, shadow work and soul work  Why what activates us in others often reveals hidden parts of ourselves The deeper purpose of Temple and transformational sacred space  Why Inanna is ultimately a journey of reclaiming the self beneath conditioning  Charlotte xxx     Ready to grow roots, revenue and reputation to sustain your own sacred business expansion?
