Im writing this after listening to the 4th 2026 Summer League game pod. It’s crazy that it’s taken this long to write a review but also feels very fitting to do it after such a random pod because I truly listen to every episode so it feels a bit poetic.
I've been a Suns fan since the Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, and Amar'e Stoudemire days. Like a lot of fans, I experienced the joy of those playoff runs and the heartbreak of watching those teams come up just short. Eventually life got busy and I drifted away from basketball for a while. When my son was born during the 2024 season, I found my way back to the Suns, and not long after, I stumbled across the Suns JAM Session Podcast.
It immediately felt less like listening to a sports show and more like hanging out with a couple of friends who are just as emotionally invested in this team as I am.
My favorite segment is Subreddit Stakeout, but what really keeps me coming back is John. (I really believe those should get clipped more and used on social media, it’s such a great and unique segment!) His humor is effortlessly witty, and he has this rare ability to be both self-deprecating and incredibly prepared. You can tell he doesn't take himself too seriously, but he absolutely takes the podcast seriously. Every episode is thoughtfully structured, every piece of Suns news gets covered, and the amount of work behind the scenes is obvious.
The custom drops and musical themes deserve their own shout-out. They're such a uniquely creative touch that I regularly catch myself singing them long after the episode ends. That's not something I expected from a basketball podcast. I wish they were all available on Spotify or something to listen to them outside the show.
John's commitment to updating the episode thumbnail for every single game is impressive. Part of me thinks, "Nobody would blame you if you skipped it once in a while." The other part realizes that's exactly why the podcast is so good. It's another example of the care and passion that goes into every episode.
As a new collector, I also appreciate the NBA card collecting tangents. It gives the show personality beyond game recaps and reminds you that you're listening to genuine fans, not people trying to manufacture takes for clicks.
If you're a Suns fan looking for smart analysis, laughs, and a show that genuinely understands what it's like to live and die with this team, this is it. John don't just cover the Suns—they care about the Suns. That passion comes through every episode, and it's what keeps me coming back game after game.
