    It's All In The Messaging

    This week on Get Canceled, Sheryl and her guest hone in on the messaging being directed at kids today.  Whether it's a boy can be a girl or identifying as a furry, it is clear that the priority has become living one's true self despite whatever fallout may occur.  And the latest trend of this mindset is "going no contact", which is being promoted throughout Hollywood and social media.  As a result, people are viewing the world though a self-serving, narcissistic lens and cutting out any and all family members who don't agree.  The reality is, parents are flawed and grandparents are more than those insufferable boomers.  The complexities of human nature should not be dismissed just because it might be triggering.  That's why boundaries exist.  So let's start exercising a little emotional resilience because Carl Winslow had it right, Family Matters.     This week on Get Canceled, Sheryl and her guest discuss the latest trend of "going no contact".  We all know that families are complicated and dysfunction can run rampant; however, severing all contact with family seems more like cutting off one's nose to spite one's face.  While in extreme cases such as abuse, this might be necessary but for the average Zoomer and their lack of emotional resilience, the general frustrations surrounding family interaction are more than they can bear.  Instead of setting boundaries, they are blocking numbers and cutting ties.  But why is this happening?  First, look no further than the deterioration of the nuclear family.  Family is the ultimate ride or die, and having that foundation is critical.  We now live in a culture that dismisses the nuclear family in favor of broken homes and single parents.  And while there is nothing inherently wrong with the latter, it is not ideal nor is it easy.  To take away one's family is to leave them with no support system.  When shit hits the fan, which it inevitably will, they have no one to fall back on.  Second, we have created a generation that is emotionally weak while simultaneously hyperfocusing on mental health.  This has left individuals incapable of tolerating any slight distress, which now includes family.  Starting to see a pattern here?  Sheryl and her guest get into all this and more on todays episode.     It's Complicated

    This week on Get Canceled, Sheryl and her guest, comedian and author, Matt Nagin continue their conversation on the unintended consequences of the #Me Too Movement.  Suddenly, women had the ability to destroy a man's reputation if they chose to do so.  While most women are telling the truth when it comes to sexual assault, it is irresponsible to assume that there aren't a few nefarious players.  #Me Too also led to a lot of confusion as to what sexual assault is.  Making bad choices because you are drunk is not the same as being forced into a sexual situation ... that is called the next morning regret.  And many men got caught in this wake and unfairly labeled as a predator.  Let's not forget the cases where women intentionally lied and faced no accountability for their actions.  Then Sheryl and Matt discuss the effects of todays pornography on young men.  The graphic, violent, and often incestuous nature that we see in porn could not be more daunting.  The fantasy of a pizza delivery guy or plumber coming to fix one's pipes is benign compared to what is being produced today.  It is no secret that adolescents and sometimes kids stumble across this content.  So we must ask, how does this imagery effect a developing mind?  And does this contribute to creating a sexual predator?        Show our guest some love!     Don't Go To That Hotel Room

    This week on Get Canceled, Sheryl welcomes back comedian and author, Matt Nagin, to discuss what the #Me Too movement got wrong.  Now, before everyone gets their panties in a twist, this was an important movement to bring awareness to the sexual harassment that many women have endured.  However, like with all movements, things can easily go off the rails.  #Me Too turned into believe all women.  And while most women are telling the truth, the reality is people lie.  Plus, when it comes to sexual assault or harassment, it is often shades of grey.  The P.     Dangers And Delusions

    I Am Avatar

    This week on Get Canceled, Sheryl and the gang get virtual, doing a deep dive into the world of video games and user-generated content.  It's 2026 and the future is now, which translates into if you think it, you can create it - at least virtually.  For many, the real world is too stressful or simply a bore compared to putting on a VR set and unleashing your true self or inner freak.  Yeah, it gets weird when people hide behind an avatar.  The escapism of gaming and virtual worlds can be so alluring that many struggle to turn it off.  But there is a darker side than just addiction in this way of life.  Sexual perversion, child predators, and a loss of reality lurk in the shadows of these seemingly harmless games.  It's real talk time and Get Canceled, as usual, doesn't hold back.
