Inside Fujikina New York 2026 With Fujifilm's Bryan Minear

Fujikina 2026 is October 16-18 in New York City. In this Bryan Minear interview, we cover the Fujikina event, his favorite Fujifilm lenses, infrared, post-production, and the creative challenges he is honest enough to talk about. Bryan has been an official Fujifilm X-Photographer for years, and in 2024 he joined the Fujifilm US marketing team. That gives him a rare view of the brand from both sides. We talk about what Fujikina actually is (a photography festival, not a trade show), what a first-timer should do with a $10 ticket, and why the International Center of Photography, Magnum Photos, World Press Photo, and FotoFest are all part of it. Then we get into the photography. The X100 that changed his career. Why he sold his 50-140 for the 70-300. His one tip for the GF 500mm f/5.6. Where he draws the line on AI. And the one photograph he wants his kids to have forty years from now. == FUJIKINA INFO == Info and Registration: https://shopusa.fujifilm-x.com/fujikina/ Fujifilm Media Info: https://www.fujifilm.com/us/en/news/fujifilm-celebrates-200-years-of-photography-at-fujikina-new-york-2026 == BRYAN MINEAR INFO == Website: https://bryanminear.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bryanminear Threads: https://www.threads.com/@bryanminear 📔 Table of Contents 0:00 Cold open: the snowbank photo 0:25 Meet Bryan Minear 1:09 From X-Photographer to Fujifilm's marketing team 2:29 What Fujikina actually is 4:39 Galleries and partners at Fujikina New York 6:17 First-timer tips, loaner gear, and the $10 ticket 8:32 Shooting Prague with Jonas Rask 10:36 The stories behind three photos 12:55 Death Valley, family, and the Prague trip 14:13 Infrared and the color green 15:52 Postmodern luminism explained 17:02 The X100 that changed everything 18:47 GF 500mm tip: get low to the ground 20:23 Lenses worth fighting for 23:12 Post-production: RAW, JPEG, and LumaChrome 25:57 Luminosity masking a cloudscape 27:05 Where Bryan draws the line on AI 28:51 Advice for new Fujifilm shooters 30:05 The creative rut and imposter syndrome 30:30 365 projects and The Traveler 32:58 A first-ever portfolio review 33:53 Balancing kids and the perfect shot 35:51 Two pieces of advice from Chris 36:25 The one photo for his kids 40:39 Fujikina dates, tickets, and the subway gallery 42:36 Wrap-up
