The End of Mother, Baby & Us

After months of conversations, livestreams, podcast episodes and a lot of reflection behind the scenes… we’ve made a big decision. In this episode, we’re talking about why Mother, Baby & Us is coming to an end. This wasn’t an easy decision. Mother, Baby & Us has been such a huge part of our journey, but over time we realised the podcast had grown into something much bigger than maternity and newborn photography. The conversations we’re having now are about photography business, creativity, mindset, marketing, burnout, pricing, growth and building a sustainable career as a photographer. We realised the content had evolved, but the name hadn’t. In this episode, we’re sharing:- Why we decided to rebrand- The conversations that sparked the change- What “The Photography Clinic” means to us- What’s staying the same (and what’s changing)- Where we want to take the podcast next This isn’t goodbye, it’s the start of a brand new chapter, and we’re so excited to bring you along with us. The Real Reason Some Photographers Charge More

In our last episode, we talked about why pricing feels so hard for photographers. But what if the problem isn’t just confidence, what if it’s positioning? In this episode of Mother, Baby & Us, we’re unpacking why some photographers are able to charge more and still attract the right clients, while others feel stuck competing on price. We dive into how positioning shapes the way your work is perceived, from your messaging and branding to the experience you offer and the clients you attract. Because often, it’s not about raising your prices, it’s about changing how your business is seen. If you’ve ever wondered why two photographers can offer similar work at completely different price points, this episode will help you understand what’s really going on behind the scenes. Sometimes the difference isn’t the price, it’s the positioning. Why Pricing Feels So Hard for Photographers

Pricing is one of the biggest struggles photographers talk about but what if the problem isn’t actually the numbers? In this episode of Mother, Baby & Us, we’re unpacking why pricing can feel so uncomfortable for photographers and why spreadsheets and pricing calculators rarely solve the real issue. We talk about the fears and mindset blocks that sit behind pricing decisions, from worrying about losing bookings to comparing yourself with other photographers and waiting until you feel “good enough” to charge more. If you’ve ever hesitated to say your prices out loud, apologised for your pricing or constantly changed your packages without feeling any more confident, this conversation is for you. This episode isn’t about formulas or complicated pricing strategies, it’s about understanding the emotional side of pricing and learning to trust your value as a photographer. When Your Photography Business Evolves But Your Habits Don’t

Your photography business has grown but have your habits kept up? In this episode, we’re talking about what happens when your business evolves but you’re still operating with the mindset, systems and patterns from an earlier stage. Many photographers hit a plateau not because they aren’t talented, but because they’re still: – making decisions from scarcity – overworking out of habit – avoiding delegation – operating reactively instead of strategically Growth requires different behaviour. What got you here won’t necessarily take you further. If your photography business feels stuck, overwhelming or harder than it should be, this conversation is for you. We’ll explore how to recognise outdated habits, shift into a new level of leadership and build a business that matches the stage you’re actually in. The Small Decisions That Changed Our Photography Careers

In photography, it’s rarely the big, dramatic decisions that shape your career. It’s the small ones, the quiet choices you make without realising their impact at the time. In this episode of Mother, Baby & Us, we’re reflecting on the decisions we didn’t fully understand until we looked back. The boundaries we set (or didn’t), the opportunities we said yes to, the systems we delayed, and the moments that quietly changed the direction of our businesses. We talk about why hindsight brings clarity, how reflection can be a powerful tool for growth, and how photographers at any stage can start making more intentional decisions, without pressure or panic. This episode is for photographers who feel like they’re “somewhere in the middle”, who know they’ve grown, but want to move forward with more confidence and clarity. Sometimes progress isn’t about doing more. It’s about noticing what’s already shaping you. Why Photography Shows Still Matter

Photography shows and conventions can be game changing but only if you know how to use them well. In this on the road episode of Mother, Baby & Us, we’re recording live from SWPP and joined by three voices from across the photography industry: Ian from Light Blue Software Fabrizia Costa — photographer, author and speaker Llŷr from the Wales & West Photography Show  Together, we talk about why photography shows still play such an important role in the industry, especially in a world that’s increasingly online. We discuss the real value of attending shows, from education and inspiration to community and connection, and what photographers can do to get more out of attending than just collecting flyers and freebies. If you’ve ever wondered whether photography shows are still worth your time, how to approach them without feeling overwhelmed, or how to turn a few days at a convention into long term growth for your business, this episode is for you. The Awkward Middle of Photography

Most photography advice is aimed at beginners or those who’ve already “made it”, but what about everyone in between? In this episode, we’re talking about the awkward middle of a photography business, the stage where you’re no longer new, you’ve made real progress, but you’re not yet where you want to be. Motivation starts to dip, responsibility increases, and it can feel like you’re working harder without the clarity or confidence you expected to have by now. We unpack why this phase feels so uncomfortable, how comparison and pressure creep in and why feeling stuck is often a sign of growth rather than failure. If you’ve lost some of the beginner excitement, feel caught between levels or are quietly questioning your next move, this episode is for you. This conversation is about perspective and understanding that the middle isn’t a problem to fix, it’s a phase to move through. The Emotional Weight of Being a Once in a Lifetime Photographer

Being a photographer isn’t just about taking beautiful images. For many of us, especially those working in maternity, newborn and family photography, it means holding space for people during some of the most emotional moments of their lives. In this episode, we talk about the emotional weight of being someone’s once in a lifetime photographer, the pressure to get it right, the responsibility that comes with documenting fleeting moments and the invisible labour that often goes unseen. We explore why burnout in photography isn’t always about workload, how emotional responsibility can quietly build over time and why so many photographers feel exhausted even when they “love their job”. This is an honest, grounded conversation about the side of photography that’s rarely talked about but felt by so many. If you’ve ever carried the emotional load of your clients home with you, questioned why the work feels heavier some seasons than others, or wondered if it’s okay to acknowledge this part of the job, this episode is for you.
