6-14-26 - You Are More Equipped Than You Think

These are the readings for the Third Sunday after Pentecost; Genesis 18:1-15, (21:1-7) and Psalm 116:1-2, 12-19, or Exodus 19:2-8a and Psalm 100, with Romans 5:1-8, and Matthew 9:35-10:8, (9-23).  "What if the key to understanding how God equips us was living inside your gut right now? This week we explore the fascinating world of the gut microbiome — the trillions of microorganisms that provision your body with vitamins, regulate your mood, and train your immune system, often without you even knowing it. Just as Abraham and Sarah, the people of Israel, and the disciples all discovered they were more equipped than they ever imagined, science is revealing that we are provisioned at a microscopic level far beyond what we could have designed ourselves. Join us as we dig into this week's lectionary texts and ask: how are you going to diversify your microbiome — and your faith?"  Let me know what you think of it. Remember to answer this week's question: How are you going to diversify your microbiome? #FaithandSciPod If you're wanting to hear other podcasts on these texts check out:   6-18-23 - Physically and Mentally Able to Do the Call 6-14-20 - Slowing down; the True way of ”Progress”! 6-7-26 - Wired for Trust

These are the readings for the Second Sunday after Pentecost; Genesis 12:1-9 and Psalm 33:1-12, Hosea 5:15-6:6 and Psalm 50:7-15, Romans 4:13-25, and Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26.  What if trust isn't just a spiritual virtue — but something written into your biology? This week we dig into the common thread of faith and trust that runs through Abraham's radical journey, Hosea's call to return, Paul's letter to the Romans, and Jesus's healings in Matthew. We explore the neuroscience of oxytocin — the "moral molecule" — and what it reveals about why vulnerability, empathy, and trust are central to both human flourishing and the life of faith. Your faith has made you well — and science might just help explain why. Let me know what you think of it. Remember to answer this week's question: When was the last time you really let oxytocin take hold? #FaithandSciPod If you're wanting to hear other podcasts on these texts check out:   6-11-23 -The Hard Truth of Faith and Trust I look forward to all of your feedback, Tyler Bublitz Music used in the podcast: March On by Silent Partner Porches and Universes by Puddle of Infinity Social Media: X: @FaithandSciPod Facebook Group: Faith and Science Podcast Group Facebook Company Page: The Faith and Science Podcast LinkedIn: Faith and Science Podcast Email: thefaithandsciencepodcast@gmail.com  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@FaithandSciPod References: The Green Blades Preaching Roundtable (Weekly) or Green Blades Rising Publications (Monthly) reach out to ecofaith@nemnsynod.org and say which you would like to sign up for! - https://nemnsynod.org/ecofaith-network/    https://www.ecofaithnetwork.org/ Beyond the Argument: Where Science and Scripture Meet -  By Esong Ngidie Teddy https://www.ted.com/talks/paul_zak_trust_morality_and_oxytocin https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/fact-or-fiction-oxytocin-is-the-love-hormone/ https://www.generationnext.com.au/2016/04/neuroscience-hard-science-oxytocin/?srsltid=AfmBOorRLjcXZnI2LmoaYPbM5WTV2PTVDzb3DjvpYrlWhhVSaw-k8l-k https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.1189047 https://www.apa.org/monitor/2011/03/oxytocin https://www.nature.com/articles/522410a https://www.ted.com/pages/criticism-updates-paul-zak https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/las-vegas-shooting/las-vegas-police-investigating-shooting-mandalay-bay-n806461

5-31-26 - From One Cell to the Magnificat

These are the readings for the Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth or Holy Trinity Sunday.  The texts for Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth are 1 Samuel 2:1-10, Psalm 113, Romans 12:9-16b, and Luke 1:39-57.  The texts for Holy Trinity Sunday are Genesis 1:1-2:4a, Psalm 8, 2 Corinthians 13:11-13, and Matthew 28:16-20.  This week the podcast asks a question that connects two very different celebrations — Holy Trinity Sunday and the Visitation of Mary: what happens when things come together? Science has discovered that at every level of reality, from atoms bonding into molecules to single cells evolving into complex life, relationships consistently produce something that could never exist in isolation. Explore how that same pattern runs straight through Hannah's song, Mary's Magnificat, Paul's vision of the church, and the very nature of the God who is three persons in one.    Let me know what you think of it. Remember to answer this week's question: Where do you see in your life that you have been built upon? #FaithandSciPod If you're wanting to hear other podcasts on these texts check out:   6-4-23 - The Ecosystem of the Trinity 6-7-20 - Are We Observant of the Holy Spirit? 5-24-26 - When the Spirit Moves

These are the readings for the Day of Pentecost. The readings are Acts 2:1-21 or Numbers 11:24-30, Psalm 104:24-34, 35b, 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13 or Acts 2:1-21, John 20:19-23 or John 7:37-39.  This Pentecost reflection explores how the Holy Spirit moves through the biblical images of wind, fire, and living water to bring change, renewal, and growth. Drawing from Acts 2 and other lectionary texts, the episode connects scripture with scientific concepts to examine how transformation often comes through disruption and transition. Listeners are encouraged to consider how God works through life’s changing seasons and how the Holy Spirit continues to shape and guide believers today. The episode closes with a reflection on where change has been difficult, yet necessary, in our lives.  Let me know what you think of it. Remember to answer this week's question: Where has change been hard but necessary for you? #FaithandSciPod If you're wanting to hear other podcasts on these texts check out:   5-28-23 - Wind of Change 5-31-2020 - The Holy Spirit to Guide Us in Love I look forward to all of your feedback, Tyler Bublitz Music used in the podcast: March On by Silent Partner Porches and Universes by Puddle of Infinity Social Media: X: @FaithandSciPod Facebook Group: Faith and Science Podcast Group Facebook Company Page: The Faith and Science Podcast LinkedIn: Faith and Science Podcast Email: thefaithandsciencepodcast@gmail.com  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@FaithandSciPod References: The Green Blades Preaching Roundtable (Weekly) or Green Blades Rising Publications (Monthly) reach out to ecofaith@nemnsynod.org and say which you would like to sign up for! - https://nemnsynod.org/ecofaith-network/    https://www.ecofaithnetwork.org/ Beyond the Argument: Where Science and Scripture Meet -  By Esong Ngidie Teddy https://www.noaa.gov/jetstream/synoptic/origin-of-wind https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_triangle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBivwxBgdPQ&t=110s

    5-17-26 - The Space Between

These are the readings for the 7th Sunday of Easter or the Ascension of the Lord. The readings for the Ascension are Acts 1:1-11, Psalm 47 or Psalm 93, Ephesians 1:15-23, and Luke 24:44-53.  The readings for the 7th Sunday of Easter are Acts 1:6-14, Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35, 1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11, and John 17:1-11. As the Easter season draws to a close and Pentecost approaches, this episode explores the often-overlooked period between Christ's Ascension and the coming of the Holy Spirit — a time of waiting, uncertainty, and hidden transformation. Drawing on the science of phase transitions, the episode unpacks how elements like water require enormous amounts of energy before any visible change occurs, and how that mirrors the quiet but powerful work happening in our own lives and faith. Just as the disciples gathered in prayer and uncertainty before the explosive growth of the early church, our own seasons of apparent stillness are often where the deepest growth takes root. This week's reflection invites listeners to consider where they are in their own phase transitions — and to trust that the energy being poured in is never wasted. Let me know what you think of it.   Remember to answer this week's question: What have been phases of transition for you where you were pumping in energy and it appeared like nothing was happening, but really a lot was going on? #FaithandSciPod If you're wanting to hear other podcasts on these texts check out:   5-21-23 - Leaping out of what We Know! 5-24-20 - Transformation Happens! 5-10-26 - The Advocate Within

These are the readings for the 6th Sunday of Easter  The readings this Sunday are Acts 17:22-31, Psalm 66:8-20, 1 Peter 3:13-22, and John 14:15-21.  What if the answer to feeling alone and abandoned was literally written into your body? This week we explore how the immune system — with its T-cells coordinating the response and B-cells sacrificing themselves to protect the whole — mirrors the promise Jesus makes in John 14 of an Advocate who will never leave us. Drawing on the 6th Sunday of Easter lectionary texts from Acts, Psalm 66, 1 Peter, and John, we discover that the way our bodies fight for us might be one of the most profound pictures of how God fights for us. You were never designed to face this alone — and the science agrees.  Let me know what you think of it.   Remember to answer this week's question: Where do you see an advocate or helper out in the world?  #FaithandSciPod If you're wanting to hear other podcasts on these texts check out:   5-14-23 - The Advocate Leading the Way! 5-17-20 - The Holy Spirit as a Catalyst I look forward to all of your feedback, Tyler Bublitz Music used in the podcast: March On by Silent Partner Porches and Universes by Puddle of Infinity Social Media: X: @FaithandSciPod Facebook Group: Faith and Science Podcast Group Facebook Company Page: The Faith and Science Podcast LinkedIn: Faith and Science Podcast Email: thefaithandsciencepodcast@gmail.com  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@FaithandSciPod References: The Green Blades Preaching Roundtable (Weekly) or Green Blades Rising Publications (Monthly) reach out to ecofaith@nemnsynod.org and say which you would like to sign up for! - https://nemnsynod.org/ecofaith-network/    https://www.ecofaithnetwork.org/ Beyond the Argument: Where Science and Scripture Meet -  By Esong Ngidie Teddy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germinal_center https://pathologia.ed.ac.uk/topic/somatic-hypermutation-and-affinity-maturation/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4755139/ https://www.nature.com/articles/nature13300 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8045557/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK27142/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK26827/ https://www.akadeum.com/b-cell/activation/ https://www.britannica.com/science/immune-system/Activation-of-T-and-B-lymphocytes https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6963622/ https://www.cell.com/immunity/fulltext/S1074-7613(23)00265-0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvChtwwdIBo

5-3-26 - Far Side of the Moon, Close Side of God

These are the readings for the 5th Sunday of Easter!  The readings this Sunday are Acts 7:55-60, Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16, 1 Peter 2:2-10, and John 14:1-14. What does it look like to live out an emboldened, Easter-transformed faith in the real world — even when the truth is hard to hear? This week we explore the courage it takes to deliver difficult messages, from the stoning of Stephen to the sobering realities of our planet's climate. We also look up — literally — at NASA's Artemis II mission and one astronaut's remarkable decision to speak openly about faith and awe in front of millions of viewers on the far side of the moon. Join us as we wrestle with what it means to draw closer to God, face uncomfortable truths, and let Easter actually change the way we live.  Let me know what you think of it. 4-26-26 - Teaching, Learning, Growing

These are the readings for the 4th Sunday of Easter  The readings this Sunday are Acts 2:42-47, Psalm 23, 1 Peter 2:19-25, and John 10:1-10. This week we explore what migratory birds can teach us about following, learning, and thriving together. From the remarkable story of whooping cranes who must be taught their route by experienced elders, to the early church sharing everything for the common good, Tyler draws a compelling thread through Acts 2, Psalm 23, 1 Peter, and John 10 — showing that abundant life is never a solo journey. Just as migrating birds bring life and nutrients to every ecosystem they pass through, we are called to bring life to the communities we travel with. Tune in and ask yourself: where are you teaching, where are you learning, and where are you growing? Let me know what you think of it. Remember to answer this week's question: Where are you teaching?
