    Episode 227: Diabolique (1955)

    Josh and Drusilla discuss the French classic, Diabolique. From wiki: “Les Diaboliques (French: [le djabɔlik], lit. transl. The Diabolical Ones or Diabolical Women, released as Diabolique in the United States and variously translated as The Devils or The Fiends)[3] is a 1955 French noir psychological thriller film co-written and directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot, and starring Simone Signoret, Véra Clouzot, Paul Meurisse, and Charles Vanel. The story blends elements of psychological thriller, crime drama and psychological horror, with the plot focusing on a woman and her husband's mistress who conspire to murder the man. From wiki: “A Cure for Wellness is a 2016 psychological horror film directed by Gore Verbinski and written by Justin Haythe. From wiki: “Interview with the Vampire is a 1994 American horror film directed by Neil Jordan and written by Anne Rice, based on her 1976 novel of the same name, and starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. It focuses on Lestat (Cruise) and Louis (Pitt), beginning with Louis' transformation into a vampire by Lestat in 1791. The film chronicles their time together, and their turning of young Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) into a vampire. The narrative is framed by a modern-day interview, in which Louis tells his story to a San Francisco reporter (Christian Slater). From wiki: “Burnt Offerings (Italian: Ballata macabra, lit. 'Macabre ballad') is a 1976 supernatural horror film co-written and directed by Dan Curtis and starring Karen Black, Oliver Reed, Bette Davis, and Lee H. Montgomery, with Eileen Heckart, Burgess Meredith and Anthony James in supporting roles. It is based on the 1973 novel by Robert Marasco.[7] The plot follows a family which begins to interpersonally dissolve under supernatural forces in a large estate they have rented for the summer.
