From our live class archives. This episode was originally recorded as a live blending session with the Natural Living Club community — so you'll hear questions, recipes made in real time, and a few "watch my screen" moments. We've pulled together everything you need below so you can follow along by ear. 📝 A quick heads-up: this class was recorded live during one of our holiday sales, so you'll hear mentions of limited-time deals — our Memorial Day sale, free gifts with purchase, and weekly giveaways. Those promotions have since ended, but we always have fresh deals waiting for you in our Sale Bin: https://www.aromatics.com/collections/on-sale Ever stood in front of jojoba, rosehip, and sweet almond and wondered which one your blend actually needs? This session walks you through how to choose the carrier that best supports your skin, your climate, and the essential oils you're working with — and we make two carrier-only recipes along the way. What you'll learn: Why carrier oils are far more than "just dilution" — they shape skin feel, absorption, shelf life, aroma, and purposeThe 4 decision points for choosing a carrier: texture, shelf life, purpose, and formula type (oil, water-based, soap, butter, or balm)The golden shelf-life rule: a blend only lasts as long as its shortest-lived ingredient — so a stable base like jojoba can't rescue a blend once the rosehip has turnedWhy delicate, antioxidant-rich oils (rosehip, pomegranate, cranberry) are best bought small and used freshWhy water-based bases (aloe vera gel, hydrosols) change everything about preservationCarrier cheat-sheet from this episode: Jojoba — technically a liquid wax, not an oil; closely resembles skin, absorbs easily, very long shelf life. The everyday anchor that stabilizes more delicate oils. If you keep one carrier on your shelf, make it this.Argan — lightly nutty, golden, absorbs with no residue. (Megan's 10-year facial cleanser: half argan, half aloe vera.)Rosehip seed — light, regenerative, great for facial blends; use at 10% or less.Pomegranate & cranberry seed — highly antioxidant and skin-regenerative; a little goes a long way.Trauma Oil — three herbal-infused carriers in one (Arnica, St. John's Wort, and Calendula infused into olive oil); a shelf staple for sore muscles, pain, and inflammation, even with no essential oils added.Recipes made in this episode: Whipped Shea & Kombo Butter (yields ~9 oz) 4 oz shea butter2 oz cocoa butter2 oz kombo butter1 fl oz jojobaMelt the shea and cocoa butters in a double boiler. Off heat, stir in the kombo butter and jojoba. Chill/freeze until the top firms, then whip until light and fluffy (about 20–30 min total).Mature Skin Glow Facial Oil (10 ml bottle) 7 ml jojoba1.5 ml argan1 ml rosehip seed0.5 ml pomegranate (or cranberry) seedCombine and stir. Soaks in beautifully with no oily residue — lovely as an evening facial oil.Resources mentioned: 📘 Free Carriers Field Guide (16 pages, 6 recipes, shelf-life chart):🌿 Shop carrier oils: https://www.aromatics.com/collections/carrier-oils🏷️ Shop the Sale Bin for current deals: https://www.aromatics.com/collections/on-sale🏡 Join the Natural Living Club: https://www.skool.com/natural-living🎓 Learn aromatherapy with Aromahead Institute: https://www.aromahead.com🎥 Watch the video version of this class on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaqr5ZNNY_Y
