This podcast regularly normalizes the racist tropes and language too often found in Agatha Christie’s work, rather than taking the time to challenge those racist tropes and language. Hosts Adam and Frankie laugh and push under the rug the very things that would make for a thoughtful, nuanced discussion of Christie’s work. The Hosts’ banter often comes off as shallow and pandering to “likes and follows”, rather than to the feelings of those negatively impacted by the racism of Christie’s work that Adam and Frankie often normalize. In their repeated choices to celebrate Christie’s problematic ethos on race as contained in the Poirot novels, Hosts Frankie and Adam instead hope that by gaslighting the audience on the racism we see depicted in the Poirot cannon, the audience will somehow forget that the hosts of this podcast, at least on some level, seem to agree with the racist language and tropes that Christie often used in her work.
