    49. Navigating the Mystery: Mental health, Grief, Sisterhood & my return to Āio with Tarikura Kapea & Robbie Fear

There comes a moment in many of our lives when everything we thought was certain begins to unravel. In this deeply personal episode, I step out from behind the interviewer's seat and into the hot seat myself. Joined by one of my besties, somatic and narrative therapist Robbie Fear, I share the story behind my year-long pause from Āio. We explore the heartbreak of grieving a future that never came to be, navigating the end of a loving relationship, losing friendships, rebuilding community, and what it means to begin again when every foundation beneath you has shifted. I also speak candidly about my journey with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), the impact it had on my mental health, and the practices, support and healing that helped me find my way back to myself. This conversation is an invitation into the messiness of being human. It is about learning to use our voice, asking for what we need, embracing community, and trusting that even in seasons of uncertainty, something beautiful is quietly being rebuilt. In this episode we explore: My year away from Āio and why I stepped back Living with PMDD and its impact on mental health Grieving relationships and imagined futures Conscious uncoupling and healing after heartbreak Friendship, community and the courage to ask for support Boundaries, authenticity and reclaiming your voice Building a purpose-led business with integrity Trusting the mystery and beginning again Content note: This episode includes discussion of suicidal ideation in the context of PMDD. If you're moving through something similar, please listen gently and reach out for support if you need it. Numbers are more than figures on a page — they hold patterns, archetypes, and stories that shape the way we move through life.  Today, we journey with expert numerologist Chaz Reid, founder of Soulprint, into the ancient philosophy of numerology. If you love astrology, human design, or personality work, this conversation will surely tickle your fancy.  With a quest alive in her heart Chaz supports people to align with their purpose and tune into the wisdom of numbers. She shares how numbers can reveal our life path, soul number, and destiny number — offering both personal insight and a lens for understanding the collective field. May these teachings remind you that purpose is not something we chase, but something written in the fabric of who we already are. Write down your full date of birth in numbers (day, month, year). 2. Add each part separately (day, month, year) until each is reduced to a single digit or Master Number (11, 22, 33). 3. Add those three results together and reduce again to a single digit or Master Number. Example: 31 August 1986 • Day: 31 → 3 + 1 = 4 • Month: August = 8 → 8 • Year: 1 + 9 + 8 + 6 = 24 → 2 + 4= 6 • Total: 4 + 8 + 6 = 18 → 1 + 8 = 9 So, Life Path = 9.

    44. Raranga: weaving ancestral thread with Ahi Nyx

In this episode, we are joined by the powerful and poetic Ahi Nyx (Te Atiawa, Ngāti Raukawa, Mōriori), a takatāpui kairaranga (weaver) based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland). Ahi is a living vessel of mātauranga Māori who brings raranga back into our homes, our bodies, our communities — and into the healing of our identity. Raranga, the sacred art of Māori weaving, is more than a craft — it is a portal to remember who we are. Together, we enter Te Whare Pora, the spiritual house of weaving, and explore how raranga reconnects us to ancestral memory, gender fluidity, and the reclamation of our cultural birthrights. Ahi speaks into the complexities of tikanga, when it can be broken and when it must be upheld. We talk about how weaving can be both a personal and collective healing ritual, especially for takatāpui and those carrying intergenerational grief or disconnection from their whakapapa (lingiege). This kōrero unravels what it means to protect our mana, to be a koha not a hōhā, and to stand strong in our truths even in the face of adversity.  Ahi's wānanga are a reclamation. Her presence is a protest. Her weaving is her karakia (prayer). Whether you're Māori or tauiwi (foreigner), takatāpui or tāne (male), wahine (female) or non-binary — this episode will leave you inspired to pick up the threads of your own story, and start weaving them home. What we cover: What is raranga and why it's more than weaving Te Whare Pora and the wairua (spirit) of creation Working with manu (birds) & who can work with their feathers Closed practices, cultural protocols, and breaking tikanga (protocols) Weaving as identity healing for takatāpui and Māori The truth about Māori shoes (yes, we had them!) Gender roles in weaving — and how they're evolving How to protect your energy and sovereignty as a creator Holding sacred space for all identities at marae wānanga (workshops) Standing strong in our truths in the face of adversity The Cacao Ambassador Is offering Āio listeners %15 off your next cacao order Head over to - https://www.thecacaoambassador.com/ Use code: AIO15 SOCIALS: AHI NYX Instagram | @ahi.nyx Website | www.ahiraranga.com ĀIO: A ROAD TO PEACE  Instagram | @aio.thepodcast  Tik Tok | @aio.thepodcast Website | www.aiothepodcast.com  TARIKURA KAPEA Instagram | @tarikura_ RESOURCES: Somatic Dance Training Mentioned in Intro Sarsha Hope www.sarshahope.com/
