Lessons from the Kikkoman Family Rule with Emelie Pepito

A family vision or rule should come from your family's unique gifting, interests, and story. It should be sustainable, simple, and capable of adapting under the challenges and changes that life throws at us. It should also be fun. And while sustainable, it should also be unique, and not so simple that it allows living without direction.  Join Jennifer and Emelie in episode 172 as they talk about family rules, the Kikkoman food empire, and living with vision.  This great conversation is made possible by the Peaceful Press! What to Do When Your Habits and Your Beliefs Don't Match with Justin Whitmel Earley

Welcome to episode 170 of the Restoration Home Podcast! We are delighted to have Justin Whitmel Earley, author of Habits of the Household and his newest book The Body Teaches the Soul.  We live in a time where mental health issues are chronic, stress. is high, and whatever we might believe about the goodness of God, we often live in a highly anxious state with habits that deny any belief in the goodness of God. This conversation with Justin is incredible. He brings scripture backed research to illustrate the importance of breathing, sleep, and why our habits inform our soul. We were created to be still before God, with brains that can create and dream with God, and breath that can reduce stress. So often we live with habits that stress us out and keep us running on empty.  We hope this episode gives you inspiration for resting in Christ, enjoying the discpline of sleep and breathing, and encourages you to take back your mental and emotional life.  Episode sponsored by the Peaceful Press!  In this episode– Sleep as a spiritual discipline  We were created to be able to sit still and know that God is God. When your body is wrecked, your sleep is interrupted by stress, it is God trying to tell you that something is wrong in your life Breathing as a spiritual discipline  What you belive will be defined by the habits that organise your day The Body Teaches the Soul by Justin Whitmel Earley The Common Rule by Justin Whitmel Earley Habits of the Household by Justin Whitmel Earley You can learn more about Jennifer here: Jennifer's Instagram You can learn more about Justin here:  Justin's Website Some Amazon Affiliate Links.

The Life Lessons of Emma M. Lion and Other Books

Books shape the way we view the world, they even change how we narrate the experiences of our life. When we read a book with a happy and courageous heroine, we began to narrate or describe our lives through the lens of being happy and courageous women.  In 2025, we loved the Emma M. Lion books for the gentleness and joy and whimsy they brought into our lives.  We loved Ronald Rolheiser for the lessons on community, and Isola for the lessons in forgiveness and courage.  Now, in 2026 we're excited for a new list of books we're reading through and learning from, and new heroines who can shape our character.  This great conversation is made possible by the Peaceful Press!
