Ep 22: Did Gay People REALLY Invent Poetry? (ft. Day Mattar)
This week we explore Hester's crazy theory that the Gays actually invented Poetry! Exploring the queer coded language of poetry and ancient Gay poets of the past.
We are also joined by the incredible Day Mattar, a cheeky queer poet and performer from Liverpool. Day is the co-founder of Queer Bodies poetry collective, and a facilitator of poetry workshops with various art organisations in the UK.
Day’s poems come from the body, they use poetry as a tool to explore links between the psychological and the physical, the somatic and the sensual.
Day's book is available to buy here: https://www.brokensleepbooks.com/product-page/day-mattar-springing-from-the-pews

Love these two
The warm, funny, yet real besties I need talking in my ear. So glad you exist!
Lovely educational chat.
Just a lovely atmosphere. Very chill. The stories are interesting and conversation is engaging! Worth a listen for sure.
Educational + uplifting
This podcast has taught me so many things from LGBTQIA+ history to awesome people I never ever learned about. This podcast has helped me see the LGBTQIA+ community’s humanity (I grew up learning about how the entire community was “bad”) but learning about individuals, their history and hearing individual stories has helped me see the true beauty of this amazing community. I love both the hosts personalities and perspectives. They bring so much light into the world with this podcast. Everyone should listen! ❤️
