Studio Update - new space, new work, new conversations..

Welcome back to The Warrior Artist! After some time away, host Éadaoin Glynn is back with a personal catch-up episode covering everything that's been happening in her practice: a new studio, art education, mentorship, and an upcoming solo exhibition. In this episode: Eadaoin shares why having a clear goal is one of the most important tools in an artist's practice, and walks us through the big moves she's made over the past year: A Purpose-Built StudioAfter a year in her first dedicated studio space (a prefabricated garden room with high walls, overhead windows, and yes, a sink), Éadaoin reflects on how separating her practice from her home life has been a genuine game-changer. The RHA School, DublinEadaoin enrolled in the part-time Painting Resolution programme at the RHA School in Dublin, one day a week. She shares what group crits feel like for the first time (nerve-wracking!), the value of articulating your work out loud, and a standout comparative study exercise, which led to a surprising realisation: her work had drifted from the abstract quality she actually loves. Mentorship with Vanessa JonesThrough the RHA programme, Eadaoin was paired with painting mentor Vanessa Jones, a lecturer at NCAD. Their regular Zoom sessions provided invaluable outside perspective. Solo Exhibition: The Slow Moon ClimbsEadaoin is preparing for a solo show, The Slow Moon Climbs, at the Backwater Artists Group, Cork, opening October 2026, working with Cork-based curator Kim Crowley. The exhibition explores the visibility of women's bodies as they age, including perimenopause, menopause, post-menopause, and ageing more broadly. The work began autobiographically and has since expanded into something more collective, shaped by an anonymous online survey inviting others to share their own experiences. The WorkEadaoin talks through her materials and process: acrylic on raw and primed canvas, the unpredictability of staining and pigment movement, her use of colour as emotional shorthand, and her most recent paintings, beginning with abstract grounds of tide-mark pigment onto which she then positions the body. Contribute to the online SurveyIf you have 10 minutes and would like to share your anonymous experience of perimenopause, menopause, post-menopause, or ageing, whether positive, negative, or uncertain, Éadaoin would love to hear from you. Your words will feed directly into her work. 👉 [Link to survey] You can also find the link on Instagram: @eadaoin_glynn Next episode: Instagram for artists, a saner approach. Don't miss it.
