The Way Home Season 4 Ep 7: Did We Just Figure Everything Out?

We would love to hear from you. Send us your thoughts or suggestions. The Way Home just name-dropped "Some Like It Hot" and Eric is not letting it go. Nick called himself Spats. The character Spats in that film witnessed the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Al Capone is connected. The 1920s timeline suddenly has a lot more layers, and this episode is either brilliant or a little too ambitious. Eric and Andrea break down Season 5 Episode 7 with questions, theories, and at least one genuine concern. What You'll Hear •       Why Eric thinks Sam is the "keeper of the pond" and what that might mean for Del's future with him, including the moment Del says "I love you" while concussed and who she was actually talking to •       The "Some Like It Hot" Easter egg: how Spats, Al Capone, and the St. Valentine's Day Massacre connect directly to Nick's time travel story in the 1920s •       Casey calling Alice selfish and why that mirrors exactly what fans have been saying about Kat for seasons •       Elliot making a deliberate choice not to jump into the pond, and the "Big Fish" arrest photo that raises a huge question about where his arc is going •       Fern and Cliff's steamy 1920s kiss, the key hidden in the piano, and what it all might mean with only three episodes left •       The honest take on the Al Capone/Tessa direction: did The Way Home bite off more than it can chew? Chapters 0:00 - Welcome + Where We Are in Season 5 4:15 - Casey, Sam, and the Keeper of the Pond 8:30 - The "Some Like It Hot" Easter Egg You Missed 13:00 - Tessa Calls Everyone Out (And She's Right) 16:45 - Elliot's Big Fish Twist + The Al Capone Problem 20:30 - The Key in the Piano, 11:11, and Final Theories 23:23 - See You for Haunted Harmony Did you clock the "Some Like It Hot" connection before Eric brought it up, or did that one slip past you? True Justice Eye for an Eye Review

We would love to hear from you. Send us your thoughts or suggestions. True Justice Eye for an Eye has the Justice Warriors back on the case, and Eric is giving it 4 stars. The pacing is sharp, the ensemble cast earns their screen time, and the camera work during the crime scene sequences is genuinely impressive. But when Eric and Andrea get into the actual mystery, they both land in the same place: the whodunit itself might only deserve a 2. WHAT YOU'LL HEAR •       Why True Justice Eye for an Eye works as a movie even when the mystery doesn't fully connect the dots, and how it compares to the first True Justice •       The VR break-in scene that was exciting and also almost certainly a felony, and the question neither host could answer: how did they get out of Kimber's house? •       Katherine McNamara's wig, which Eric calls the second-worst in Hallmark history, and why it was more conspicuous than any disguise should ever be •       The True Justice 3: Lost Love listing that already exists on IMDb, plus Eric's prediction for when it actually airs •       Trivia: Katherine McNamara's role as Mia on the superhero series Arrow, and writer Nikki DeLoach's personal nod to her home state of Georgia hidden in the script •       Hallmark and Chill picks: Murder She Wrote Season 10, Episode 5 for a vintage VR parallel, and Darrow and Darrow starring Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Wendie Malick, and Tom Cavanagh CHAPTERS 0:00 - Intro: Did You Watch True Justice 1 Before This? 3:30 - What Worked: Pacing, Ensemble Cast, and the Crime Scene Camera Work 8:00 - The Wig, the Earpiece, and a Winter Movie Airing in May 13:00 - Mystery Minute: Fun Movie, 2-Star Mystery 17:30 - Romance Roundup: Four Couples, One Joey Porter Name Drop 20:30 - Character Corner: The Courtroom Walk, the Dog in the Van, and the Well 22:30 - Trivia: Katherine McNamara's Arrow Past and True Justice 3 on IMDb 24:15 - Hallmark and Chill: Murder She Wrote and Darrow and Darrow 26:00 - Next Week: Haunted Harmony The actual mystery in True Justice Eye for an Eye: would you give it a 4 like the overall movie, or is Eric right that it's really closer to a 2 on its own? The Way Home Season Four Episode 6 Review

We would love to hear from you. Send us your thoughts or suggestions. The Way Home just handed us our wildest theory of the season, and we are not letting it go. Jacob and Abby might be Casey’s parents, Tessa just revealed she’s running the whole smuggling operation, and Kat has once again made everything measurably worse for everyone around her. In this episode, Andrea and I break down The Way Home Season 3 Episode 6, and the theories we walk away with are bigger than anything we’ve had so far. Here’s what we get into: •       The Jacob-is-Casey’s-dad theory: why the season two clues were staring at us the whole time, and what Casey saying “I don’t know anything about the Goodwins” actually means •       Tessa as the ringleader of the smuggling ring at the Cove, and why Andrea saw it coming while Eric did not •       Kat’s pattern across three seasons of steamrolling into situations and making everything worse, including her dad •       Andrea’s season two rewatch discovery: the psychic who kept calling Del and Colton, and whether there’s a real connection to Tessa •       Del’s horse, Stormy, and why three seasons of screen time has to mean something •       Alice skipping New York, Max’s harsh take on small-town life, and why the show might be setting her up to repeat her mom’s story •       Elliot’s reaction to seeing Tessa on stage, and why it felt off for a guy who’s already met her before •       What we still need answered before this season wraps, and our honest concerns about whether 12 episodes is enough Chapters: 0:00 – Welcome and episode setup 4:30 – The 1920s carnival, Del’s horse, and the Stormy thread 9:00 – The wildest theory yet: is Jacob Casey’s father? 13:00 – Kat makes everything worse (again), and why Fern and Thomas are the only ones who call her on it 18:00 – The Tessa plot twist and Elliot’s reaction problem 22:00 – Alice stays home: the wrong call, or something bigger? 25:30 – What we need from the final episodes, and why Hallmark canceling this show still stings Do you think Jacob is Casey’s dad? Hanaha Swensen Mystery: Best Served Cold Review

We would love to hear from you. Send us your thoughts or suggestions. ThiHannah Swensen's 14th mystery delivers fun characters and some courtroom drama, but Eric and Andrea agree the mystery itself is weaker than fans deserve. The killer is obvious from the moment they appear on screen, there are no real suspects, and Hannah's character feels like she's lost some of that strong, independent edge from earlier movies. What You'll Hear: • Eric gives this one a 2.5 out of 5 — slightly better than the last Hannah movie but still missing what made the early ones work • Why Hannah's personality shift with Vic feels inconsistent compared to her dynamic with Mike in earlier films • The one thing that worked: Chad finally gets some backstory and actual courtroom scenes instead of just busting down doors • Andrea's favorite character was the killer — and why that's actually a problem for the movie • Their Murder She Wrote and True Justice recommendations if you're craving a better mystery • A preview of next week's True Justice: Eye for an Eye review (and why you should rewatch the first one before the new episode drops) Chapters: 0:00 – Cold Open: Chocolate Cheesecake Opinions 1:15 – Overall Ratings: 2.5 Out of 5 3:42 – What Happened to Lake Eden's Small Town Charm? 7:28 – Mystery Minute: No Suspects, No Red Herrings 11:05 – Romance Roundup: Married-for-10-Years Chemistry 14:20 – Character Corner: The Killer Was the Best Part 16:45 – Hallmark Trivia: Top-Rated Hannah Movies 18:30 – Hallmark and Chill Recommendations 21:10 – Next Week: True Justice Eye for an Eye Did you notice Hannah's personality shift with Vic compared to Mike? The Way Home Season 4 Episode 5 Review

We would love to hear from you. Send us your thoughts or suggestions. Eric and Andrea are reviewing The Way Home Season 4 Episode 4, and they are not on the same page. Eric calls this his favorite episode of the season so far, while Andrea is still only halfway into the pond. Nick time travels to the 1920s, someone wants Kat dead, and the tarot cards Tessa steals might actually mean something. What you'll hear: • Why Nick singing with the Augustine brothers at the speakeasy might be the best Nick moment of the entire series • Eric's take on why Kat and Elliott's relationship feels more like siblings or toxic friends than romantic partners • The tarot card breakdown: Knight of Cups and the Empress, and what they could actually mean for Tessa's future • Del's concussion visions of Colton, and whether she and Jacob were both running parallel delusions • Andrea's standout scene: Evelyn showing real compassion when Colton tells her about the miscarriage • The drowning scene cliffhanger: Kat was the target the Augustine brothers were told to "get rid of" — but by who? • Grayson Goodwin: good guy or bad guy? Eric and Andrea don't agree • Why Elliott stealing Kat's keys is giving "like mother, like son" energy Chapters: 0:00 – Intro: Eric's Favorite Episode, Andrea's Dipping Her Toe 2:15 – Nick Time Travels & Golden Retriever Energy 5:30 – Elliott and Kat: Crazed People Belong Together 8:45 – The Tarot Cards Tessa Stole (Knight of Cups & Empress) 11:20 – Standout Scene: Evelyn's Compassion for Del 14:10 – The Drowning: Who Wants Kat Dead in the 1920s? 17:30 – What We're Hoping Happens Next 18:52 – Outro Did you catch that Hallmark actually showed smoking in the speakeasy scene? Robin Bernheim: From Mystery 101 to Brooke Shields' New Acorn Hit

We would love to hear from you. Send us your thoughts or suggestions. Robin Bernheim created Hallmark's biggest mystery franchise — Mystery 101 — and it was only supposed to be a one-off movie. Now she's back with You're Killing Me, a cross-generational cozy mystery starring Brooke Shields and debuting on Acorn TV May 18th. And Brooke herself picked the two-female-lead concept over the traditional cozy mystery formula. What you'll hear in this interview: •       How Robin went from forty years in the business to getting Mystery 101 greenlit at Hallmark — and why it was never supposed to become a franchise •       The three concepts Robin pitched to Brooke Shields, and why Brooke changed her mind and chose the cross-generational female duo over the Moonlighting-style male-female tension •       Why You're Killing Me breaks the cozy mystery rules by pairing two women instead of relying on romantic tension, and how Hacks and Gilmore Girls influenced the show's DNA •       Tom Cavanagh's Detective Jack — the rare cozy mystery cop who's competent, amused, and doesn't dismiss the amateur sleuths •       Kate Drummond (Flower Shop Mysteries) reuniting with Brooke Shields, and whether we'll see more of her friendship storyline in future episodes •       The overarching mystery that runs underneath the six standalone episodes — and why Robin says the last episode is her and Brooke's favorite •       What it's like managing from kindness on set, and the moment the grizzled boom operator told Robin he didn't think he'd like the show — until he couldn't stop laughing during the tree scene Chapters: 0:00 – Who Is Robin Bernheim? 4:12 – From Remington Steele to Mystery 101 9:47 – Pitching Hallmark's Biggest Mystery Franchise 14:23 – You're Killing Me: Why Two Women, Not Romance 19:55 – Brooke Shields Picked the Concept Herself 24:38 – Tom Cavanagh, Kate Drummond & the Founders Cove Cast 30:15 – The Overarching Mystery You Didn't See in Episodes 1 & 2 34:42 – What's Next for Season Two Which cozy mystery formula do you prefer — the traditional male-female romantic tension, or the cross-generational female duo like You're Killing Me? Hope Valley 1874 Episode 8 Review

We would love to hear from you. Send us your thoughts or suggestions. Hope Valley 1874 wraps its first season with Episode 8 — "All That Glitters" — and Eric and Andrea have thoughts. There was a twist nobody saw coming, a boarding house dance that actually delivered, and a season-ending cliffhanger that one of us thinks is completely contrived. Season 2 is confirmed, but did this finale earn it? WHAT YOU'LL HEAR •       The robbery twist: why Tom's former employee being the thief was a genuinely satisfying surprise — and why we were both convinced it was the British guy •       The boarding house dance party: fiddles, prospectors and farmers mixing, and Rebecca showing up in a dress that screamed old money in a small frontier town •       The love triangle reaches a turning point — Alexander tells Olivia to follow her dream; Clayton tells her to stay. Two very different views of what her life could be, and why the show actually played it well •       Rebecca's arrest as the season cliffhanger: why one of us thinks it's silly and forced, and what the writers could've done instead •       Bethany Joy Lenz and Benjamin Ayres in that final scene — why their "talking around it while talking about it" exchange actually worked •       What we're hoping Season 2 brings: the coal mines arriving, Tom and Rebecca's relationship forced into high gear, and a proper Hattie episode with actual stakes •       Oh — and we learned what a petticoat actually is. Neither of us was right. Special Mahjong Chocolate Collection Use Promo Code HMM15 to get 15% off your order.  https://www.bissingers.com/collections/whats-new/products/milk-mahjong-collection-6-pc All’s Fair in Love and Mahjong hit Hallmark with a cultural controversy before a single frame aired — and then Hallmark went completely silent. Eric and Andrea watched the movie, gave it four stars, and have a lot to say about both the film and the network’s baffling decision to go dark when they could have controlled the whole conversation. What You’ll Hear •       Why the cultural appropriation criticism around All’s Fair in Love and Mahjong spread so fast — and how Hallmark’s silence turned a manageable moment into a full PR mess they never recovered from •       The real woman behind the movie: producer Joel’s wife Ronnie, whose life inspired the entire story — and why that context would have squashed most of the controversy on its own •       Did you spot the real Ronnie’s cameo? She’s hiding in the book club scene as the “I want my bird” woman — and Eric has Joel’s number to confirm it •       Fiona Gubelmann’s performance — Eric calls it her best Hallmark movie by a mile, with special attention to her non-verbal acting during the karaoke scene that felt completely unrehearsed •       Melissa Peterman stealing every scene she’s in, and why Eric suspects she was improvising lines that no writer could have scripted that naturally •       What didn’t land: the too-brief secondary romance between the two Chinese characters that felt tokenistic given the runtime, and a small business loan subplot that hit a little close to home Chapters 0:00 – Intro & The Controversy Around All’s Fair in Love and Mahjong 4:00 – Hallmark Went Silent: How They Let the Narrative Win 8:00 – What Worked: Fiona Gubelmann’s Best Hallmark Performance Yet 12:00 – Melissa Peterman, the Friend Group & the Karaoke Scene 16:00 – What Didn’t Work: The Loan, the Tokenism, the House 19:30 – The Real Ronnie: True Story, Real Cameo & Mahjong Trivia 22:00 – Movie Recs: Twelve Games of Christmas, Jumanji & Field Day 23:55 – Up Next: When Calls the Heart Season 1 Finale Did the cultural controversy around All’s Fair in Love and Mahjong reach your corner of the internet — or were you totally in the dark until now?
