Fastest way to the first down marker is straight ahead. Why on earth do we run the most predictable, boring, and too often lateral and delayed handoff run game in America? J Love needs to hit the holes down hill. Even more, the offensive line is struggling and our backside blocking on the delayed zone, counters, etc is god awful. Not to mention everyone in the stadium knows what we are about to run - especially in the wildcat. Pass protection looked better. At times run blocking looked better, but mostly on more quickly developing plays. Maybe it’s just me but I’ve had enough of Brian Kelly-esque and Mike Denbrock flavored offensive schemes. I can’t even start in Chris Ash. He has taken the defense 180 degrees in the wrong direction. It is terrible. It’s who he is as a coordinator. I disagree that it’s too early to fire someone. If you are the “accountability” guy (looking at you head coach) then be accountable. This is what we got after bypassing Mike Mickens? Drop the dead weight (Ash). Elevate Mike Mickens. Go back to a VIPER and design defensive schemes to match how your team is built. But we won’t. And watch. If we don’t we’ll listen 2-3 games this season. Monitor that… Love the show guys. I enjoy listening to this pod for slightly different takes. Some of the other pods at times sound like an echo chamber. Nice work gentlemen.
