    Episode 183 - Haircuts, History & Hearsay

This week, we're talking about everything from the Blue Angels flying over Hannah's workplace to Abraham Lincoln's surprisingly wild past. And somehow, those aren't even the strangest parts of the episode. 😂 We kick things off with a little work update, some incredible aviation sightings, and a VERY important question: How did dogs become dogs, and how much of their personalities comes down to breeding? Because apparently, we have some thoughts. Then we're diving into ancestry discoveries, family history, and Mom's recent trip to Washington State for Uncle Gary's funeral. It's a conversation about family, the people who shape our lives, and the things we hope others remember about us when we're gone. For The Rest of the Story, Hannah introduces us to a six-foot-four frontier wrestler who wasn't afraid to take on the toughest guys in town. And believe it or not, that man would eventually become one of the most recognizable presidents in American history. But Hannah isn't finished with Honest Abe just yet. She's gone down a historical rabbit hole involving theories about Lincoln's ancestry, possible Melungeon connections, and whether there might be more to his family history than we were taught in school. 👀 Plus, Hannah is giving Casey a haircut, we're responding to a listener's comment about weddings, we're making plans for a trip to the zoo, and Mom shares some memorable words from the late Mike Ditka. It's history, family, conspiracy theories, a little controversy, and plenty of the usual rabbit trails. Come laugh with us. We Saved You a Spot. ❤️

Episode 182 - Marriage, Mickey & The Fish Store

This week, we're covering the important things in life: church pews, clogged toilets, Mickey Mouse, Bass Pro Shops, and why you should NEVER show up to Hannah's house early. 😂 Mario and Juli somehow ended up with one of the pews from our old church in their house, which sends us down memory lane before we move on to a much more pressing question: what do married couples do about bathroom situations they simply do not discuss? Because when the toilet is clogged and you can't fix it yourself... eventually, somebody has to confess. 😂 Isla has been sick, but Hannah, Barbi, Casey, and Zane have officially perfected the sick kid setup, complete with measured medicine, documentation, and a system that makes those miserable nights just a little easier. Then it's time for The Rest of the Story, and this week we're going back to a teenage boy who lied about his age, headed overseas, drove ambulances in postwar France, and spent his spare time drawing. And unlike last week... Mom DIDN'T figure this one out until the end. 👏😂 We also have a very important update from HB, who has officially made his podcast debut talking about his favorite place: the fish store. You may know it as Bass Pro Shops. Mom has also decided that instead of buying the grandkids more toys, we're giving them “no no” gifts this year: spray bottles, cardboard boxes, canes, Grandma's glasses, magnifying glasses... basically all the things they're constantly being told they can't play with. Honestly? She may be onto something. Plus, Rocky VI is coming out and we're all excited! On top of that, we're talking about Mom's dream for a truly hometown Jacksonville radio station... Spoiler alert - there's a few and we mention them! And to end the episode, we're settling another etiquette debate: Is it ever okay to show up to someone's party EARLY?! Because Hannah and Barbi have thoughts. 😂 Come hang out with us. We Saved You a Spot. ❤️

Episode 179 - From Pimples to Plane Crashes

This week, Hannah is settling into her new HR role, and let’s just say… work is workin’. 😂 There’s a lot going on, she’s learning a ton, and some days are just a little more stressful than others. Meanwhile, we have some questions about delivery services, accountability, and why getting something delivered when they said it would be delivered apparently feels like asking for a miracle. Then things get medical... sort of. Hannah tells us about a pimple situation that went VERY wrong, Mom shares what happened to Dr. Pimple Popper, and somehow we also end up discussing anesthesiologists, back problems, and Hannah's return to retainers after pretending they didn't exist for entirely too long. But there are sweet moments too. We talk about answered prayers, including Hannah's retainer saga and one of Mom's favorite stories about praying over Grandma's missing keys. HB has also apparently developed a caffeine vocabulary, because he knows exactly what Mom and Grandma mean when they start talking about getting coffee. 😂 Mom gives us an update from Madison, Florida, introduces us to her latest obsession with the woodpeckers at the backyard bird feeder, and we recap our Harry Potter movie night, complete with foods that had names almost as entertaining as the movie. And for Hideous and Horrific History, Hannah brings back The Rest of the Story with the incredible true story of a young serviceman who survived a terrifying plane crash in the Pacific, swam for his life, and eventually found himself in a career where danger, grit, and a certain squint would make him one of the most recognizable men in Hollywood. You'll have to listen to find out who. 👀 It's chaotic, it's funny, there's a surprising amount of pimple talk, and somehow we even learn something. Come sit with us. We Saved You a Spot. ❤️
