What Nobody Tells You About Hiring

Entrepreneurship isn't as glamorous as social media makes it look. In this episode, Shelby gets honest about what it really means to run and grow a business after buying her parents’ company, Connie’s. She talks about managing a team, leading employees older than her, setting clear standards, implementing SOPs, hiring before she felt completely ready, and learning how to create a stronger foundation for growth. More importantly, Shelby talks about the parts of entrepreneurship people don't always share — the stress, difficult decisions, employee challenges, customer expectations, and the responsibility that comes with being the person in charge. Because building a business isn't just about sales and freedom. It's about people, systems, leadership, accountability, and creating a standard your whole team can follow. If you're building a business or thinking about becoming an entrepreneur, tune in for a real and honest conversation about what happens behind the scenes. Listen now and join Shelby for another raw conversation about business, leadership, and entrepreneurship. You Are Gonna Be In The Red

The Shelby Clement Podcast is officially BACK and Shelby is starting this new chapter by getting completely honest about what life has looked like behind the scenes. After taking a break from the podcast, Shelby returns with a very different season of life to talk about: motherhood, running two businesses, buying her family’s 35-year-old business, growing a team, learning the numbers, building systems, and figuring out how to balance all of it without pretending she has everything figured out. Earlier this year, Shelby bought Connie’s Impressions, the business her parents started 35 years ago. What began as an idea to buy the business, grow it, and eventually sell it has quickly become something much more meaningful. In this first episode back, Shelby shares what those first five months have actually been like. When she bought the business, there were five employees. Today, the team has grown to roughly 15–18 people, including part-time employees. Along the way, Shelby and her team have been working on everything from inventory and systems to SOPs, team structure, company culture, and the financial side of running a brick-and-mortar business. She also opens up about something she didn’t fully understand before stepping into the acquisition: just how much there is to learn when you become responsible for an entire business. But this episode isn’t just about business. Shelby also talks about what it feels like to build businesses while raising two young kids and trying to be a present mom and wife. She shares the reality of early mornings, late nights, dropping the kids off, picking them up, working around family life, and dealing with the guilt that can come with feeling like you’re never doing enough in one area because you’re focused on another. And perhaps the biggest shift of all is how Shelby now sees the future of Connie’s. This episode is an honest introduction to the next chapter of the podcast, a place where Shelby will talk about the wins, the failures, the stressful moments, the lessons, the business decisions, motherhood, and the reality of figuring things out as she goes. If you’re building a business, thinking about buying one, growing a team, navigating motherhood and entrepreneurship, or simply trying to figure out your own next chapter, this episode is for you. She pulls back the curtain on what it actually felt like to step into a room filled with high-level entrepreneurs, where growth is expected, decisions are bigger, and the standards are higher than ever. From navigating moments of doubt and imposter syndrome to making bold, uncomfortable decisions in real time, Shelby shares the unfiltered truth of what it takes to evolve as a business owner. This isn’t surface-level advice or recycled tips. It’s raw, honest, and grounded in real experience, the kind that forces you to look at your business differently and question how you’re currently operating. Inside this episode, Shelby unpacks lessons around scaling your business with intention instead of chasing everything, overcoming fear and self-doubt when you’re in unfamiliar rooms, making investments that feel scary but necessary, and building a personal brand that people genuinely trust and connect with. She also highlights the power of being in the right environment, learning from people who have already done what you’re trying to do, and why proximity can accelerate your growth faster than anything else. If you’ve ever found yourself questioning whether you’re ready for the next level, feeling stuck where you are, or wondering what it really takes to grow beyond your current reality this episode will push you to think bigger, act bolder, and start seeing your business through a completely different lens. It's Not Imposter Syndrome, You're Just Uncomfortable

In this honest and high-energy solo episode, Shelby Clement breaks down one of the biggest things holding people back from growing their business and showing up online: imposter syndrome. But not in the way you’ve heard before. This isn’t a conversation about lacking confidence or not being qualified. It’s about something much deeper and much more common. Discomfort. After reviewing and answering real questions from her audience, Shelby noticed a pattern. People are putting out polished, curated content, but avoiding the one thing that actually builds trust and drives conversion: showing up as themselves. They’re hiding behind graphics. They’re avoiding being on camera. They’re overthinking every move. And then wondering why nothing is working. Shelby explains that imposter syndrome isn’t a sign that you’re not good enough. It’s a sign that you’re stepping into something new, something unfamiliar, and something outside of your comfort zone. And instead of pushing through that discomfort, most people retreat. Throughout this episode, Shelby challenges you to rethink how you show up online and in your business. She shares why connection will always outperform perfection, why being relatable is your biggest advantage, and why waiting until you feel “ready” is what’s keeping you stuck. She also opens up about her own experiences navigating business growth, motherhood, and high-pressure seasons where things don’t always go according to plan. It’s a reminder that even at higher levels, the doubt, pressure, and uncertainty don’t disappear, you just learn how to move through them. This episode is for anyone who: Feels stuck in their content or business Struggles with showing up on camera Overthinks and avoids taking action Worries about being judged or “doing it wrong” If you’ve been waiting to feel confident before showing up, this episode will shift your perspective. Because confidence doesn’t come before action. Action builds confidence. No fluff. No sugarcoating. Just real, honest truth that will push you to stop hiding and start showing up. Why You Feel Stuck In Business (And How to Fix it Fast)

In this raw and unfiltered solo episode, Shelby Clement says what most people are already thinking, but don’t have the courage to say out loud. This is not your typical motivational talk filled with surface-level advice or quick bursts of inspiration that fade after a few hours. It’s a real, honest, and deeply reflective conversation, the kind that might feel uncomfortable at times, but in a way that pushes you to grow. Shelby dives into the real reasons your business isn’t growing and why your content isn’t getting the traction you expected. And no it’s not the algorithm, bad luck, or lack of opportunity. It comes down to the things most people avoid taking responsibility for: lack of clarity, lack of strategy, inconsistency, discipline, and avoiding the uncomfortable actions that actually lead to growth. She breaks down the patterns that keep people stuck overthinking every move, waiting for the “perfect” time, constantly starting over, or convincing themselves they need more time when in reality, they need more focus. Through her direct and no-filter approach, she challenges you to look at your habits, your mindset, and your daily actions in a completely different way. Throughout this episode, you will likely feel called out but also understood. Shelby brings a level of honesty that feels like a tough conversation with someone who genuinely wants to see you win.
