167 - It's Never Too Late to Choose You with Jennie Garth

From teenage 90210 star in a show that defined a generation to a young mom, three divorces, and decades of Hollywood beauty pressure, Jennie Garth has lived a lot of her life in public.  She joins us to talk about her new memoir, I Choose Me: Chasing Joy Finding Purpose & Embracing Reinvention. The title comes from one of Kelly Taylor's most famous lines, and it has become the way Jennie lives. Jennie is honest about her divorces: the grief, the self-doubt, and the slow work of rebuilding that taught her who she is apart from anyone else's approval. She shares the inner work that got her there and letting go of beliefs that kept her small. For Jenn, this conversation was personal. Reading I Choose Me felt like talking with a friend who just gets it. So much of Jennie's story, from life after divorce to the long habit of looking outside herself for validation, mirrored Jenn's own life in ways she didn't expect.  This is a conversation about fame, family, and heartbreak. Most of all, it's about the choice we can each make, at any age, to treat ourselves like we're worthy of our own care. It's never too late to choose you. 166 - Is It Perimenopause or ADHD? with Dr. Jolene Brighten

What if the brain fog, the overwhelm, the forgetfulness and the "why can't I just get it together?" feeling in midlife aren't a personal failing at all? This week, we sit down with Dr. Jolene Brighten, board-certified naturopathic endocrinologist, women's hormone expert, and author of a new book, ADHD and Women. Dr. Brighten explains why so many women live with ADHD for decades, often masked and quietly overwhelmed, until the hormonal shifts of perimenopause and menopause make the symptoms impossible to ignore. Together we explore: Why estrogen and progesterone shifts can make ADHD symptoms feel louder in your 40s and 50s The signs women are most likely to miss, from anxiety and emotional overwhelm to sleep struggles, sensory sensitivity, and "I used to be able to handle this" moments Why ADHD in women has been underdiagnosed for so long, and what the research is finally showing How hormone therapy, movement, sleep, and nutrition can support a neurodivergent brain through every hormonal stage Dr. Brighten's own journey as a neurodivergent woman, and why understanding your brain is an act of self-care, not a label   And this one got personal. Somewhere in the middle of this conversation, Jenn had a realization she didn't see coming: she may have been living with ADHD her whole life. If you've ever wondered whether midlife is just "harder for you," this episode is for you.  ADHD and Women by Dr. Jolene Brighten is out October 6. 165 - A Medical Intuitive Reads Us Live with Julie Ryan

This week, we're stepping a little outside our usual lane, and we're so glad we did. Julie Ryan is a medical intuitive and psychic medium who says she can sense what's happening in the body and connect with those who've passed. We came in curious (and, honestly, a little skeptical), and walked away with a lot to think about. In this conversation, Julie does a live medical intuitive reading on Jenn, tells Lori about the spirit guides she says are walking alongside her, and answers the questions so many of us have wondered about quietly. Why do dogs sometimes stare at "nothing"? What does she believe happens as we die, and what do the dying experience in their final days? And how can understanding that process bring comfort to those of us who love them? Whether you're a believer, a skeptic, or somewhere in the middle, this episode is an invitation to stay open, ask big questions, and maybe feel a little less afraid of the things we rarely talk about. 163 - How Cargo Biking Could Change Your Life with CargoBikeMomma (Maddy Novich)

What does it actually take to raise a family in New York City with zero cars and 100% pedal power? Ever wondered what it's really like to navigate school drop-offs, grocery runs, and daily life in New York City entirely by bike? This week, we're joined by Maddie Novich—better known to her viral community as @cargobikemomma. Maddie shares how swapping four wheels for a cargo bike transformed her family's daily routine, physical health, and connection to the city. We dig into the real environmental and mental health perks of micro-mobility, the stark realities of navigating NYC's bike network, and why safe, protected infrastructure is critical for families on the go. Stick around for the second half, where the conversation takes an unexpected turn: Maddie shares her fascinating background in criminal justice, what stopped her from joining the CIA, and life as a professor—which naturally spirals into an unfiltered chat with Jenn about her obsession with true crime. 162 - Answering 3 Questions Every Midlife Woman is Asking

Your wine. Your Walk. Your Wind down. What's actually happening? You send the questions. We do the digging. In this episode, we're tackling three that land in our inbox on repeat—the ones that make you wonder, is it just me? (Spoiler: it's not.) First up, "Social Life or Sleep" wants to know why a glass or two of wine that used to help her wind down now hands her a 3:00 AM wake-up call and night sweats instead. We get into what's actually shifting with alcohol and hormones in midlife—no lecture, no guilt, just what's going on and what your options are. Then "Wants to be a Walker" asks whether the influencers are right: is walking 10,000 steps really better for weight loss in menopause than running or spinning, or is it just the trend of the week? We separate the science from the noise. And finally, the question so many of us are quietly asking: am I lazy, or am I genuinely exhausted? You want to do the thing, and then you sit down and don't move for hours. We talk about how to actually tell the difference—and why the answer matters more than you'd think. Pull up a chair. Around here, no question is too small, and no one is behind. Take the FREE "Strong for Life" Assessment NOW! 161 - How Journaling Rewires Your Brain with Laura L. Rubin

In this episode we explore the simple yet profound power of pen and paper with Laura L. Rubin, the founder of AllSwell Creative and author of the transformative new book, The Big Unlock. Journaling is often touted as a "must-have" wellness tool, but it can feel intimidating or even performative for many. We sit down with Laura to demystify the practice and prove that it truly is accessible to everyone—regardless of whether you consider yourself a "writer." This conversation brings together two very different perspectives: Jenn: A lifelong journaler who relies on her notebook as a non-negotiable tool for mental hygiene and clarity. Lori: A self-proclaimed "non-journaler" who represents the skeptics and the overwhelmed who don't know where to start. We also unpack: The Science: Why slowing down to the speed of your own handwriting has a measurable cognitive and emotional impact. Converting the Skeptic: The specific data points Laura shares in corporate boardrooms to change minds about the power of journaling. 4x4x4 Method (you'll have to tune in to find out what that means)! Whether you are a seasoned pro or a curious skeptic, this episode offers a roadmap to finding your own "Big Unlock" through the philosophy of journaling.
