Dr. Sherika Newman Talks Heal Thyself, Turning Trauma Into Triumph & Finding Wholeness!

Dr. Sherika Newman has spent her career helping others heal. Now, she is sharing the story of how she learned to heal herself. The board-certified physician, national leader in hospice and palliative care, and founder of Doctor in the Family joins The Roundtable with Robert Bannon to talk about her debut memoir, Heal Thyself: From Childhood Trauma to Triumph. In the deeply personal book, Dr. Newman opens up about a journey that began with a childhood marked by poverty and abuse and continued through teenage motherhood, medical school, multiple marriages, motherhood, and the demands of building a successful career in medicine. But Heal Thyself isn't simply about what she survived — it's about what it took to move forward, confront the past, and find wholeness. Across ten chapters, Dr. Newman connects stories from her medical practice with her own experiences, exploring faith, resilience, identity, family, community, and the people who helped carry her through the seasons when giving up felt easier than continuing. On The Roundtable, Dr. Newman gets candid about why she decided it was finally time to tell her story, how her experiences shaped the physician she became, and why healing can require the same compassion we so freely offer to others. We also talk about the community that stood beside her, the importance of therapy and chosen family, and the message she hopes readers take from Heal Thyself: trauma may be part of your story, but it doesn't have to determine how that story ends. Dr. Newman brings the same warmth and honesty to this conversation that have made her the doctor friends, families, and patients turn to for compassionate, patient-centered care. Heal Thyself: From Childhood Trauma to Triumph is available on Amazon. Lauren “LOLO” Pritchard & Stephen Michael Spencer Talk Music City on The Roundtable!

Welcome to Music City! Lauren “LOLO” Pritchard and Stephen Michael Spencer join Robert Bannon on The Roundtable to talk about the gritty, heartfelt new musical bringing the sound—and struggle—of Nashville to the New York stage. Now playing Off-Broadway at St. Luke’s Theatre, Music City features music and lyrics by Billboard chart-topping songwriter JT Harding, a book by Peter Zinn, and direction by Eric Tucker. Set around the Wicked Tickle, an East Nashville dive bar filled with singers, songwriters, cheap beer, big dreams, and complicated lives, the show explores what happens when ambition, love, addiction, poverty, and the pursuit of a break all collide. LOLO, known to Broadway audiences as original cast member Ilse in Spring Awakening and for her recording career, stars as 23, while Stephen Michael Spencer—whose Broadway credits include Clyde’s—plays T.J. Together, they help bring Harding’s contemporary country catalogue to life with songs including “Smile,” “Sangria,” and “Somewhere In My Car.” We talk about the music, the characters, the immersive world of the show, and why Music City is about much more than country music. It’s a story about artists chasing something bigger while navigating all the messy, beautiful, and sometimes heartbreaking parts of life along the way. Music City began its current Off-Broadway run June 15 and officially opened June 24, 2026. Watch / listen on BroadwayWorld, Broadway Podcast Network, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeart, YouTube & more. Mira Housey Brings Her Rising Pop Sound to The Roundtable with Robert Bannon!

Mira Housey is here — and this Detroit talent is having quite a moment! The singer, songwriter, producer and classically trained pianist joins Robert Bannon on The Roundtable to talk about her new music and the journey from growing up in Michigan to becoming one of pop music’s exciting emerging voices. Housey recently released her six-song EP Mirror, featuring tracks including “Layup,” “prettyboy,” “BUTTERF-LIES,” “Sleeping In My Makeup,” “Yours,” and “When I’m in the 70s.” Even more impressive? Housey writes, records and produces her own music, bringing together her classical piano background with a fresh, cinematic pop sound. The momentum continues to build. Housey has landed back-to-back Spotify New Music Friday placements, appeared on the covers of Fresh Finds and Fresh Finds Pop, and was celebrated with a Spotify-sponsored billboard in New York City. Mark Ballas Is Back on Broadway — and Bringing the Razzle Dazzle!

From the ballroom to Broadway, Mark Ballas has done a little bit of everything — and now he’s back on The Roundtable! The three-time Dancing with the Stars Mirrorball champion is currently back on Broadway starring as the slick, smooth-talking Billy Flynn in CHICAGO. After a celebrated run earlier this year, Mark returned to the Ambassador Theatre for another limited engagement, playing Billy through August 16. And Broadway is hardly new territory for him — Mark previously starred as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys and Charlie Price in Kinky Boots. Of course, we had to talk DANCING WITH THE STARS. Mark has become one of the franchise’s most recognizable and beloved pros, and now he’s helping find its next generation of talent. He serves as a judge alongside his mother, ballroom legend Shirley Ballas, on ABC’s new series Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro. Hosted by Robert Irwin, the competition follows 12 dancers fighting for the chance to become a pro on Season 35 of DWTS. We talk Broadway, Billy Flynn, the ballroom, judging the next generation of dancers, his career — and somehow we even get to WEED WHACKERS! Yes. Weed whackers. Mark’s grandfather, George Ballas, invented the Weed Eater in 1971 after inspiration struck while watching the spinning brushes at a car wash. He went home, experimented with fishing line attached to a rotating device, and helped create the string trimmer that would eventually become a lawn-care staple. So apparently talent runs in the Ballas family — dancing, performing, judging... and keeping the lawn looking fabulous. We had an absolute blast catching up with Mark Ballas about CHICAGO, Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro, his incredible career, and one of the most unexpected family stories we’ve ever heard on The Roundtable!
