Embodying the Goddess: Reclaiming the Body & Dismantling Spiritual Bypassing Ft. Cynthia Abulafia

What happens when spirituality teaches you to transcend your body but doesn't teach you how to return to it? In this episode, Eileen sits down with Cynthia Abulafia, author, educator, yoga therapist, and longtime student of the goddess traditions of Tantra. Cynthia's debut book Embodying the Goddess challenges what she calls the transcendence bias of patriarchal spirituality: the pervasive idea that the body, emotions, and sensory experience are somehow less sacred than stillness, silence, and transcendence. What she offers instead is a path of radical integration. Climbing the ladder both up into transcendence and back down into form. This conversation goes deep, fast. From Kundalini awakening to the bargains we make with our own hearts, from the exploitation hiding inside Neo-Tantra to the surprising power of devotion in a post-religious world, this is one to sit with. In this episode: * The "transcendence bias", why so many spiritual traditions teach us to leave the body rather than inhabit it * What Kundalini awakening actually is, and what a spiritual crisis can teach us * The goddess traditions of Tantra and why most of their sacred texts still aren't translated or publicly available * What the divine feminine is not, and how Cynthia defines it (hint: it's about the capacity to hold opposites) * "Bargaining the heart", the invisible contracts we make without knowing it, and how finishing the sentence "I will be happy when..." is the key * Why 25% of Westerners now identify as spiritual but not religious and what we've thrown out with the bathwater * Curiosity as a spiritual practice, a political act, and a path back into connection * The Celtic thread: how the goddess tradition in Irish mythology shows a radically different relationship between sovereignty and the land "Notice what you notice. Honestly, that's the whole teaching." — Cynthia Abulafia Visit Cynthia's website Connect with Cynthia on Instagram Join me for the next Wheel of the Year Ceremony Subscribe to Eileen on Substack Take the Which Witch Are You Quiz Order Awaken to the Magic Connect with Eileen on Instagram Follow Eileen on Insight Timer Send Eileen an email

Summer Solstice Rituals, Celtic Mythology & the Lost Art of Play

Summer solstice is here, the longest, brightest day of the year. The time known as Midsummer throughout ancient Europe. In this solo episode, Eileen explores the mythology, energetics, and seasonal wisdom of this luminous peak moment on the Wheel of the Year, and weaves in a teaching that's very much alive in the Wise Wild Woman Mentorship right now: the radical, necessary act of play. In this episode: * The Celtic Wheel of the Year and why Summer Solstice is called Midsummer even though we know it as the beginning of summer today * The Oak King and the Holly King and the mythological battle at the heart of the solstices * A brief look at the two primary Celtic deities associated with this turn of the wheel: Áine (Awn-yeh), Irish sun goddess and Fairy Queen of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and Lugh, the Shining One * Why the veil thins at midsummer and what Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream has to do with it * The science of play and what the National Institute for Play's research reveals about why adults need it as much as children do * How we were slowly conditioned to believe play is indulgent, childish, or something to be earned * Why play can feel genuinely unsafe for women whose nervous systems learned that worthiness is tied to productivity and usefulness to others * Small, accessible ways to weave play back into your daily life this season "We put rest off 'until...'. We put play off 'until...:'.  And that 'until' never comes." 🌿 Summer Solstice Ceremony June 19th, 2026 (in-person Calgary + hybrid) 🌿Take the Which Witch Are You Quiz 🌿Order Awaken to the Magic Within 🌿Connect with Eileen on Instagram 🌿Follow Eileen on Insight Timer 🌿Send Eileen an email

Inherited Trauma, Family Constellations & Healing the Wounds You Didn't Create with Dr. Meher Chahal

What if the patterns you've been trying to heal don't actually originate with you? In this episode, Eileen is joined by Dr. Meher Chahal, former psychiatry resident turned ancestral healing practitioner, astrologer, and author of Unlicensed Medicine. Dr. Chahal left Western psychiatry after realizing the system was designed to treat symptoms, not reach their root. What followed was a profound personal and professional journey through family constellations, somatic work, shadow work, and what she calls psychological alchemy. Her story led her to a framework for transforming the heaviest parts of your lineage into your greatest source of power. In this episode: -What family constellations actually are and why they're so difficult to explain until you experience them -The epigenetic science behind inherited trauma (hint: when your grandmother was pregnant with your mother, you were already a cell in your mother's ovaries. Her stress was your stress) -Why you should never gaslight yourself with "but I grew up privileged" and what Pete Walker's work on complex PTSD reveals about premature gratitude -The difference between having awareness of your trauma and having genuine compassion for its effects -Why Dr. Chahal left psychiatry and what a pre-ulcer at residency taught her about living out of alignment -The thin line between "cycle breaker" identity and the humility that ancestral healing actually requires -How the witch wound connects to epigenetic and cultural trauma patterns "Give healing precedence, but also give life precedence. One of the ways to leave the past behind is to give the future a chance." — Dr. Meher Chahal Visit Dr. Chahal's website Connect with Dr. Chahal on Instagram Join Eileen at the next Wheel of the Year Ceremony Take the Which Witch Are You Quiz Order Awaken to the Magic Within Connect with Eileen on Instagram Follow Eileen on Insight Timer Send Eileen an email

Acceptance vs. Resignation: How to Stop Fighting What Is and Find Peace

Have you ever lain awake at 4am, counting down the hours of sleep you're losing and planning for all the worst case scenarios? In this solo episode, Eileen shares the mindset shift that changed everything for her, from fighting her circumstances to finding the gift within what she cannot change. Drawing on a sleepless early morning, the chaos of listing her house for sale, and the wisdom of the turning seasons, Eileen explores one of the most important distinctions she returns to again and again: the difference between acceptance and resignation. Resignation makes us victims of our circumstances. Acceptance makes us orchestrators of them. But how do we actually get there without bypassing what's hard or pretending everything is fine? In this episode: -Why acceptance is not the same as giving up and why that distinction matters deeply -The practice of listening to your body and actually acting on what she's asking for -How aligning with the natural rhythms of the seasons supports surrender and trust -What a 4am wake-up taught Eileen about equanimity, presence, and self-compassion -Why this time of year (Bealtaine through Summer Solstice) tends to disrupt sleep and how to work with it rather than against it "Resignation turns us into victims of our circumstance. Acceptance turns us into orchestrators of our circumstance."
