The Christian Physician | Healthcare, Faith, Medicine, Leadership, Healing Prayer, Trust God

Inga Hofmann, MD – Physician, Leadership Coach, Life Coach, Discipleship

Do you feel called to medicine, but unclear what God is asking of you in this season? Are you longing for deeper intimacy with Jesus, but struggling to make space for Him in the demands of medicine? Do you crave clear direction from the Holy Spirit, yet feel stuck in overthinking, uncertainty, or spiritual noise? I’m so glad you’re here. This podcast will help you hear God’s voice clearly in your daily life so you can boldly integrate your faith and medicine and step confidently into your God-given purpose in every season. I’m Inga, a Christian physician, mom, wife, and follower of Jesus. For years, I tried to live out my faith authentically while navigating the relentless pressures of academic medicine. But honestly? I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and often unsure whether I was hearing God… or just my own thoughts. I wanted clarity about career decisions, patients, and daily life. I tried to stay consistent with prayer and Scripture, but medicine kept pulling me off track. My quiet time was hit-or-miss. Faith felt compartmentalized. I felt defeated. Then something shifted. I realized I didn’t need more striving — I needed margin. I needed habits rooted in intimacy, not performance. When I committed to daily Scripture and prayer (for real this time), intimacy with God became my foundation. And from that place, I began hearing His voice with clarity — in prayer, in intercession, and even in caring for my patients. That shift led to Spirit-led discernment, bold obedience, and even a miracle with one of my patients that changed me forever. I have never been the same. Now I help Christian physicians: • Hear God’s voice — even on their busiest days • Integrate faith and medicine without apology • Walk confidently as Spirit-led doctors who honor both God and science If you’re ready to stop compartmentalizing your faith and start walking fully in your calling, this podcast is for you. Grab your journal and your sword (yes, your Bible).Let’s become the physicians God created us to be. 63. 3 Lessons from Evangelism You Can Apply to Your Medical Practice

Send us Fan Mail Have you ever felt the Holy Spirit nudging you to pray for someone—but you weren't sure what to do? Wonder what evangelism or healing ministry could actually look like as a physician? Wish you could integrate your faith more naturally into your everyday clinical practice? In this episode, I share stories from a recent ministry outreach and evangelism weekend that I hosted in Madison, Wisconsin with my friend, Dr. Alissa Hinkle. What began as a simple gathering for worship, healing prayer, and equipping quickly turned into a powerful reminder that God loves ordinary acts of obedience. From praying for a homeless man who had just left the hospital to unexpected conversations at the farmers market, I'll share several testimonies along with three practical lessons that every Christian physician can apply—not only in ministry, but also in patient care and everyday life. Whether you've never prayed for a stranger before or you're longing to grow in hearing God's voice and stepping out in faith, I hope these stories encourage you to take your next small step of obedience. In this episode, I discuss:  Why God often works through simple acts of obedience  A powerful testimony of leading a man to Christ after he was discharged from the hospital  Why both giving and receiving prayer require humility  What Jesus teaches us about praying more than once  Why people are desperate to be heard in today's hurried world  How slowing down can transform both ministry and patient care  Practical ways to begin integrating faith into your everyday medical practice Resources Mentioned Heal the Healers Physician & Healthcare Conference October 30–31, 2026 | Boston, MA Healing and Miracles: Bridging Science and Faith Register: https://healthehealersconference.com/boston2026 Join my free Facebook community for Christian physicians.  Looking for a mentor or have questions? 61. Feeling Overwhelmed? How to Prioritize with God as a Busy Physician

Send us Fan Mail You don't need another productivity system. You don't need a longer to-do list. What if the reason you feel overwhelmed isn't because you have too much to do—but because you're carrying things God never asked you to carry? As physicians and healthcare professionals, we juggle clinical responsibilities, leadership, research, family, faith, church, and countless other commitments. It's no wonder so many of us feel stressed, overwhelmed, and unsure where to focus our attention. In this episode, I share a practical and deeply spiritual framework for helping busy physicians prioritize with God, reduce stress, and gain clarity for the season they're in. We explore how daily time with the Lord, journaling, reflection, and listening to the Holy Spirit can help us discern what truly matters—and what may be keeping us from God's best. I also walk through several powerful questions I regularly use when I need clarity and direction. Reflection Questions God, what do You say my priorities need to be right now?Jesus, what do You want me to focus on in this season? What is getting in the way? What do I need to surrender to You?What do I need to let go of?What have You already placed in my hand? What resources do I need to ask You for?Join Me in Boston If this episode resonates with you, I would love to invite you to join me October 30–31, 2026, for the inaugural Heal The Healers Physician & Healthcare Conference in Boston. 58. From Striving to Surrender: Integrating Faith and Medicine Through Prayer

Send us Fan Mail What if the breakthrough you’ve been praying for in medicine isn’t more effort… but surrender? For years, I lived what many Christian physicians quietly experience—faith and medicine running on parallel tracks. I prayed, I showed up, I worked hard… but deep down, I was still striving, still carrying the weight, still treating prayer like a last resort instead of a living relationship. Everything shifted in a moment I’ll never forget—praying for a critically ill pediatric bone marrow transplant patient during COVID. What started as desperation turned into something unexpected: a real-time, Spirit-led conversation with God. Specific prayers. Clear prompting. And then… watching a miracle unfold. In this episode, I share how that moment marked the beginning of moving from striving to surrender and what it actually looks like to integrate faith into your everyday practice of medicine. We talk about:  – Why integration starts with heart posture, not more strategies  – How to stop comparing your spiritual journey  – What it means to hear God’s voice in real time  – And how small steps of obedience can change everything If you’ve ever felt like you’re toggling between faith and medicine… this is your invitation into something deeper. 👉 Join the Heal the Healers Facebook community 👉 Get on the waitlist for the upcoming Boston conference: https://ingahofmann.com/events Are you a Christian physician or healthcare professional longing for a deeper walk with God and a supportive community that truly gets it? 📍 Mark your calendar: October 30–31, Boston, MA The Heal the Healers Physician & Healthcare Conference on Healing & Miracles This is more than a conference—it’s a space to encounter God, be restored, and be equipped to live out your calling in medicine. 57. Christian Physician: Are You Compartmentalizing Faith and Medicine?

Send us Fan Mail You can love God… be fully committed to your patients… and still feel like you’re living two separate lives. One in medicine. One in your faith. For years, that’s exactly how I lived. In this episode, I’m reintroducing myself and sharing my journey—from growing up in Germany to training and practicing as a pediatric hematologist-oncologist—and the subtle way I began to compartmentalize my faith along the way. I was praying. Leading Bible studies. Showing up to church when I could. But underneath it all… I was still operating from control. Medicine trains us to rely on ourselves. To carry the weight. To make the decisions. And without realizing it, that mindset can quietly shape our relationship with God—where prayer becomes reactive, outcome-driven, and God becomes someone we consult… rather than follow. But there’s another way. In this episode, I’ll walk you through:  What it actually looks like to live on “parallel tracks.”  How performance and control show up in our faith  And the invitation to surrender—not just outcomes, but your entire way of practicing medicine This is the beginning of a deeper shift. A move from striving… to partnership with God. If this resonates, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out on your own either. 👉 Join the Heal the Healers Facebook community to continue the conversation 👉 And make sure you’re on the waitlist for the Heal the Healers Boston Conference (Oct 30–31, 2026)—a powerful space for physicians to be restored, equipped, and activated: Go to 👉 https://ingahofmann.com/events You were never meant to carry this alone. 56. Still Leading from Fear as a Christian Physician? Find Peace

Send us Fan Mail You can love God, be an excellent physician… and still feel driven by fear. Fear of missing something. Fear of making the wrong call. Fear of not being enough. I’ve been there too. In this episode, I’m sharing something deeply personal, something I find myself coming back to again and again. Because the real issue isn’t just fear.  It’s the place we’re leading from. So easy for us as physicians to slip into a performance-based identity—where everything depends on us, striving feels normal, and control feels necessary. But that’s not where peace lives. So easy for us as physicians to slip into a performance-based identity where everything depends on us, striving feels normal, and control feels necessary. But what if God calls us to live differently? To live from our identity as sons and daughters rather than pressure and performance to please people or the system? In this episode, I share:  Why fear shows up so often in medicine—even for strong believers  How performance-driven identity keeps us stuck in striving  What it looks like to shift into peace and Spirit-led leadership  A simple first step to release control and hear God more clearly Because the truth is: The opposite of fear isn’t faith—it’s perfect love. And when you begin to live from that place, everything changes. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, pressured, burned out, and stuck in striving, this episode will meet you right where you are. ✨ Next Step: Join the Heal the Healers Facebook Group—a Kingdom community for Christian physicians seeking to hear God’s voice and integrate faith into medicine in a real, practical way.
