With welfare concerns rightly prevalent, social license proving to have a loud voice and the rising costs of keeping horses and running equestrian businesses forcing many to make tough choices, is the future bleak for the sport we love? We’ll be discussing this subject throughout May with a selection of fantastic guests, starting in today’s pod as we welcome the inimitable Pammy Hutton and Pippa El Derby to talk about the pressures on riding schools. We were tentative about exploring his career, but we are very glad we did; Portuguese bull fighting is not what we thought and we found Rui’s stories fascinating and we learned a lot about this part of Portuguese culture.
